Even on a gloomy and a little rainy morning like the one we visited on, this park is vibrant and fun. There are lots of grassy areas to run and play, artistic benches and fountains, the bathrooms are nice and clean, the parks workers blow out all the leaves and take good care of the grounds and did I mention the multiple really cool playground areas and toys? Plus they have Mama Rosa which is the cherry on top! This park made me wish I was a kid again, or that I had young kids again so I could come here and play. The conditions created by this event were completely out of character for our neighborhood and inappropriate for a small city park. The large crowds, excessive noise, and overall level of disruption had a significant impact on nearby residents and families. Of particular concern was the volume of traffic moving through our neighborhood. Numerous vehicles were speeding on residential streets, creating dangerous conditions for children, pedestrians, and families. The situation raised serious safety concerns for those who live in the area. I was also unable to bring my children to the park because of the environment that had developed there. The park was crowded with adults engaging in behavior that made it unsuitable for children, including loud music, profanity, smoking, and what appeared to be public intoxication. Public parks should remain safe and welcoming spaces for families, yet the atmosphere associated with this event prevented many residents from using the park as intended. In addition, I was surprised to learn that admission to the park required a $50 entrance fee, along with an additional $10 parking fee. As a Glendale resident, I have always understood Richard E. Maslowski Park to be a public park available for residents to enjoy. Being denied entry because I was unwilling or unable to pay these fees was frustrating and left me questioning how a public park could become inaccessible to the very residents whose tax dollars help support it. The person in charge, Terrell, was extremely rude and dismissive throughout our interaction. When I attempted to explain my concerns, he was unwilling to listen and did not give me an opportunity to be heard. His attitude made the experience more frustrating and left me feeling that my concerns were not take seriously. He is definitely not someone I would expect the city to have representing it. His behavior was unprofessional and did not reflect the level of courtesy and respect that Glendale residents should receive I urge the City to review the planning, permitting, security, traffic management, and enforcement measures associated with this event. Future events should be managed in a way that protects public safety, minimizes disruption to surrounding neighborhoods, and preserves reasonable access to public parks for Glendale residents.

This is an excellent park to take all ages of children. Close to the Oak Leaf Trail, this space…read moreoffers swings, slides, bridges, climbing bars, interactive panels, and many more creative options for kids to play, learn, and burn off some energy! There is plenty of open space between the play areas for kids to run around, and the benches and picnic tables offer a chance to sit and share a snack or lunch. If you visit the park during the day, don't forget your sunscreen as there are no trees to provide shade. This is a great addition to the Glendale community, and as a resident, I'm looking forward to going more often to enjoy music, the beer garden, and, of course, more time with family.

It connects to the Beerline Trail. This trail is absolutely gorgeous. It runs along the Milwaukee River, so there is a lot of photo ops. Oh! It's really lovely. It's only 3 point something miles, but it connects to the Oak Leaf Trail, a much longer trail. Overall, 5 stars. The Beerline Trail is awesome!

Gordon Park isn't all that big, but I am delighted it has been preserved. There are interesting…read morestone foundations and walls on the east end of the park that just beg for an explanation, including one circle that begs for rituals. When I visit with my nephews and niece, we imagine Druids feeling at home. Of course, in pleasant weather we have actually seen folks LARPing in medieval gear as if to prove us right. The splash pad is silent in fall and winter, but the playground remains active on sunny days. Off street parking is ample and soccer games are fun to watch, even if you don't have skin in the game for either side. Maybe Gordon Park isn't a big one or a famous one in the County's excellent park system, but it is so accessible -- you can just tumble out into Riverwest and Harambee neighborhoods from there.

There is frequently a food truck or two parked on the perimeter. I've visited a couple times and there are a lot of people during nice weather. There is definite need for available restrooms - there are a couple bathrooms, they were just locked (even though the signs said they were open). Luckily, we found 1 port-a-potty at the far edge of a baseball diamond. The pond also needs some love - there is quite a bit of smelly algae, and I imagine the dissolved oxygen levels are low due to high water temperatures, especially during the summer. Not sure how well the fish are doing, and it is HEAVILY fished. However, it was nice to see so many families enjoying the pond and I love seeing parents teach their kids how to fish. As an ecologist, it is sad to see Honey Creek is still confined to the concrete channel that runs through the park. But the ducks and geese seem pretty happy. A solid 3.5ish stars, will be back next time I'm in the area.

Nixon Park is what small-town living is all about. A handicapped-accessible pathway invites everyone in. We watched some young boys fishing and they caught 23" northern pikes- repeatedly! There is lots of room for kids to run and play, traffic is far away, and there are wonderful events regularly scheduled throughout the seasons. We just visited the Healing Wall, and have also enjoyed several stage programs. All free! Whether you have young children or are empty nesters, this park is peaceful and fun for all ages. Dogs are welcome also. After having fun at the park grab dinner down the street; there are many restaurants to choose from. Hartland is a small town that offers lots for everyone to enjoy!

This is a nice little unique park that Hartland has at the heart of its downtown center, and every…read moreresident can find something to do here that will allow them to have both relaxing summer evenings or chilly but fun winter nights. The layout is simple--there's a stage and pavilion for bands, movie nights, performances, etc., a baseball diamond, some large open fields/areas, a space for a beer garden during the warmer months, and a playground and picnic pavilion. An ice rink is also installed during the winter months, so if you have your own ice skates or want to pay a few bucks to rent a pair, head down here for some fun night-skating under the bright lights. I've personally spent time at the beer garden in the summer, which is run by Pat Endter, the owner of nearby Endter's Sports Grill, and it's a great little treat to have for the area--the staff is always super nice, the beer is always ice cold, and the selection is great throughout the different months it's open. There are more than enough umbrella-covered picnic tables to accommodate a large crowd, and the fact that we can bring our dog with us to have a beer outside is awesome. The pavilion/stage is also a unique draw for the park--I've seen movies, comedy shows, and bands perform on the stage there, and the events are always free for the public. There have also been instances of major sports games shown on the inflatable projector screen the Village of Hartland owns and uses at the park, and this allows for a cool sort of community camaraderie when the weather is warm enough to allow for such activities, especially with the food and beer from the beer garden. Probably the coolest part of the park though is the mere fact that it's on the Ice Age Trail, one of Wisconsin's big claims-to-fame. For those who don't know, the Ice Age Trail is one of eleven National Scenic Trails, and it runs solely through the state of Wisconsin, meaning it's locally maintained and managed for the most part. There are only a few municipalities throughout the state of Wisconsin who can say that the Ice Age Trail runs through the heart of their communities, and the fact that this park features a segment of the IAT itself is pretty cool and a fact to brag about to neighboring communities.

Hales Corners Park is a very nice, large park with plenty of amenities for families and…read moreneighborhood fun. On the north end of the park, there's a large play structure with swings, another swingset with a sand play area, a children's splash pad water feature and restrooms. The restrooms, in particular, are very helpful for families with younger kids, or visitors who are picnicking. The south end of the park includes a parking lot, the Hales Corners swimming pool, a rock climbing structure, and a baseball diamond. The south end also features tennis courts, a veteran's memorial and the park is adjacent to the Hales Corners Public library and the Ben Hunt cabin. The park stretches out over a large field space extending to the west, and crosses a small stream to another parking area and a large open hill often used for sledding. In the winter, the Park is home to the Allison Dudek ice skating rink. This summer the Hales Corners Park was host to the Sprecher beer garden, and the park is also home to Hales Corners' 4th of July festivities and fireworks, and Hales Corners National Night Out. Overall, it's a great park!
