Hot shots!!!
Amy N.

Clean and friendly meat store you say? And they have some stable grocery items?? AND they have coolers of options if beverages?? So what I am telling you is in a pinch, they can be a one stop shop of deliciousness! If you haven't stopped into Franks Meat Market, I must admit, you're missing out. Prices are fair. They are locally owned. And, they have hot shots. In my opinion, the best meat sticks to be created on this Earth! Hot shots range in flavors, three are actually pictured in my post but I had them mix two. I ordered Honey BBQ, their traditional Hot Shot - more like a mild spicy - and then the cheddar hot shots (close second fav to the Honey BBQ)! They offer jalapeño and jalapeño cheddar if you want a spicier kick! Even though the hype is real on those, let's not forget the other meats. Beef, chicken, pork...sausages, kielbasa, bratwursts...you name it, they probably have it!

Frank's Market!! ⁣ ⁣ Happy Weekend GR!⁣ ⁣ Franks Market is a family owned and run meat market since 1933 that is truly a West Side tradition. ⁣ ⁣ My family has been going to Frank's since I was a kid. I'm a 4th generation customer you guys! Our fam has been buying keilbasa from Frank's since they opened! (Polish Heritage) ⁣ ⁣ We love their fresh sirloin burgers, keilbasa, mock chicken, specialty stuffed brats and hot shots. And their service is hard to beat! ⁣ ⁣ (Pro tip: They're kindaaaaa famous for their hot shots - so stop in to try them & prove them right! ) ⁣ ⁣ If you've ever been, I think you'll agree that this is one of those "if you know, you know" places. ⁣

The address is wrong in Yelp. Frank's Market is now at 1017 just up the street about a 1/4 mile on the other side.

The address is 1021 on the other side of the street about 1/4 mile. Wonderful new location and friendly services. Looking forward to our Spoon Roast!

The Hot Shots, Bacon, & Fresh Kielbasa are my favorites and have enough drawing power to bring me into Grand Rapids from Standale and after that, I buy whatever tickles my fancy.

This place has such a good selection of meat. The Polish sausage is the best in town, hands down. It is homemade and out of this world. Last year during the local Polish festival I saw several trucks pull up from the Polish Halls that sold food. What were they buying? Franks Polish sausage, not grandmas, not some Eckridge sausage crap, FRANKS! One of the best birthday presents I ever got was a 2lb package of Franks Polish sausage. I had never had it before and was in love from the first bite. On top of that the jerky, meat, chicken....oh and the cold cuts. Everything I tried is great. And the service.....second to none. You walk in, there are always a couple guys behind the counter to help. You are doing your tastebuds a disservice if you are buying your meat at Meijer, or some other mega-mart. O

Frozen chicken thighs.

There is a lot of foot-traffic in the market, but ordering has never been difficult and the service is typically decent. Over the years, I've been back to Carver's multiple times and they have upped their game since my first visit. The burgers have been great and the fries are particularly good. Their menu changes with their inventory, but there are always burgers and good sandwiches. The French Dip, Pulled Pork and Reubens have been standouts. This is now my go-to for lunch when the family stops at the Downtown Market.

Carvers has an actual kids menu. I don't think any other food stall in the market has a kids menu, so that's a bonus. The kids' menu includes the standard kid fare: chicken tenders, grilled cheese, a hot dog, a cheeseburger. That was enough variety for my children, who picked a grilled cheese and cheeseburger. All of the kids' meals are served with fries. We also got steak fries, which I was told were "very good." OK! The steak fries were what you'd imagine them to be: fries topped with chopped pieces of steak, topped with white cheese sauce. I was impressed by Carvers ready-to-eat offerings in their refrigerated case. They had stuffed baked potatoes, ready-to-grill asparagus, cole slaw, egg rolls, and even elote salad (which is labeled as street corn salad). Lots of delicious-looking foods ready to take with you.

This comes with 4 meats, 4 sides, and 4 pieces of Cornbread. I got Pulled Pork, Brisket, Smoked Wings, and Ribs ($8 upcharge) for my meats. For the sides I got Mac N Cheese, Bbq Pit Beans, Mashed Potatoes, and Spicy Creamed Corn. Overall everything was good and well cooked. From best to least it was Ribs, Brisket, Smoked Wings, and then the Pulled Pork. I would get the ribs and brisket again, but probably pass on the wings and pulled pork. The Bbq beans were only okay, oddly enough as cold leftovers they were much better. The Mac N Cheese was okay, but I wouldn't get it again. The Mashed Potatoes were very good. The spicy Cream Corn was excellent, they weren't lying it has a spicy kick! Funny enough the best thing was the Cornbread. It was fantastic, some of the best I've had. The worst thing? The sauces. They all were not good at all. The most tolerable one is their regular sauce, still a c minus. The service was good, but I was asked how I was doing about a hundred times. Still everyone was friendly. Overall a 4 star review. Would I return? If I was in Lansing then Yes. It is quality bbq cooked by someone with skill. I just might bring my own bbq sauce.

It's was the end of the day but Kramer didn't mind. He welcomed us all with a big smile and how can I help attitude. After visiting I learned Grand Butchers is a full service shop offering all natural beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and veal. Affordable organic, grass-fed, and pastured products with an emphasis on made-in-Michigan. Besides custom cuts and a full display cases they have a fully stocked deli and offer many grocery items. It was about $20 per pound, which is certainly better than any restaurant pricing so I was happy. I don't buy a ton of meat so I'm not sure if that pricing is in line with other stores, but I wanted to support this local shop right in my own neighborhood. They had a large selection of other cuts of meat, chicken, and packaged items like crackers, sauces, dips, gifts, and more. I'm definitely coming back to Grand Butchers the next time I need a more special cut of meat. Love the large parking lot and I was in and out in no time.
