I had a wonderful experience shopping here for the first time,…read moreFirst of all, there is a tremendous amount of plants, i was in particular looking for roses, and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable. I felt the prices we're very , very good. There is a lot of variety. Best of all was how helpful they were to me an elderly person. I will certainly be returning to here!

Next to these was a sign, "Crown Princess Marguerite" but, again, no Marguerite just more 'Molineaux.' Did not realize until we got home that I had fallen for the old trick. It's too far to return them w/o expense/inconvenience - the price of gas artificially inflated by Trudeau's genocidal junk tax as it is. Being Austin's, maybe they'll be ok. They look healthy, at least. But I resent being DUPED. Moral: Double-check Hunter's labels. Things are not as they seem. From now on, I order only online. See https://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/products/molineux Molineaux, a paler, much smaller rose than the famous double-cuppers of Graham Thomas and Crown Princess Marguerite. Hint: Mountain Edge Nursery in Salmo, BC is a superior garden centre with excellent selection and competitive prices (no David Austin Roses, alas, yet) AND FREE delivery when one orders a certain minimum. The lilac shrubs they delivered 2 wks ago are now thriving.

I have been a fan of KJM for awhile and was super excited to see that they were opening up a…read morelocation in the River Market by my house. My husband probably isn't as excited as it means more plants for our balcony when the construction is complete. This past weekend we were taking our Saturday walk about and decided to check it out. It was all I imagined and more. After last year problem with our live Christmas tree I was reluctant to seek out one again this year. My goal is to have a tree on our balcony that we can bring in for a week over the holiday's and then put back out for the rest of the year. The one we were sold from a competitor was a complete bust. So when we saw the cute little dwarfs (trees) I had to go and ask a barrage of questions. Ariella, the manager, was fantastic! She was able to answer all my questions and convince me that we could have a tree year round on the balcony and bring it in, for a very brief time, but still it could be done. I will be back on Friday to pick up our little dwarf and love it for a VERY long time.

As I've mentioned before, I'm a plant killer. So either KJM breeds some extraordinary specimens or…read moremy neighbour has some special magic, because she cannot stop talking about the amaryllis flower that I gave her from this shop. I bought it as a hostess gift for a Christmas party, just to get something different from the usual poinsettias (of which KJM Urban also had a great selection). She tells me that the colour is the most beautiful she's seen on an amaryllis flower, and not only that, it just kept on blooming for months on end. (I once bought myself the same type of flower from another shop. It bloomed maybe twice, then pretty much keeled over.) For such a small shop, they have a lot of variety, from houseplants and floral arrangements to cacti and terrariums, as well as supplies and my favourite type of garden accessory, garden gnomes. As far as I know, they bring a lot of the plants in from their KJM Country Gardens location in South Vancouver, so it's great local products you're getting here. The staff shuttle back and forth as well, so they're very knowledgeable about the plants, where they come from, and how to care for them -- and they can probably bring in things for you if they don't have them right here. I love browsing here when I'm shopping at the market. It's a great place to buy a living gift, or to find something to brighten up your balcony garden. Is it spring yet?
