We turned into Cuesta at the most northern entrance and drove along the newly paved street back all the way back to the Achievement House where the nursery in the thrift store are located. It was a beautiful day and there was lots of free parking. We used to donate a lot here, but be sure to check the regulations for what you can donate. There were a lot of books and household goods being donated while we were there and it's easy to drive up and get them out of your car onto the little table there. We walked through the big greenhouse that is the retail nursery and found a few succulents that we didn't have yet. Because I started my succulent garden here. I do have most of these succulents available in my backyard, but there's always something new in different to try. We were warmly welcomed by the two workers doing their watering, moving plants and one man assembling succulents in baskets with different colored stones and gravel. This would make great gifts! I took a short tour through the thrift store after we were done purchasing our plants. There were many items that would be ideal for college students setting up housekeeping!

This was our first time visiting, and there was so much to see. They have so many plants outside for sale. They were beautiful. They also have a separate building with furniture for sale. When you go inside the other building, it's HomeGoods and clothes. They have a beautiful courtyard, and we were able to sit with our dog in the shade. I was able to find a couple things. This is one of the greatest organizations in any town! They have won awards and deserve every one…read moreof them. They have been held up as an example for other towns to emmulate! Norma Moye is the Director of this organization & runs it like a fine oiled machine. She has always reminded me of how Judy Garland might be today.... very talented, very dramatic and has found her contentment in her own backyard and wants everyone who lives here to feel the same way. Every business that joins her organization will be touched in a positive way. The more you are involved the closer you get to work with this wonderful lady! She will take you under her wing and take good care of you! Our successful little store was just steps away from her (Main Street's office) front door and until the earthquake wiped it away, we were part of the wonderful Main Street family. Then after the earthquake, it was our connections with the people we met through Main Street that helped us get jobs after losing everything. Their generosity and support has helped us build ourselves back up. We may no longer have a store but we will always be part of the Main Street family!

It is a brightly-lit, high ceiling building that has a collection of artwork (for sale!) from multiple local talents of various mediums. I went in to look, but walked out with 2 multi-media oil painting-newspaper pieces from an artist named Holly whom I even got to meet! It was incredible to get to chat with her about what inspired her to create this kind of work. Then at checkout, my eyeballs deceived me by wandering to some cool glass-blown plant stick decorations that were made from the last Disney glass blower. So, I, of course, *had* to buy a couple of those delightful beauties! Everyone I met there was friendly and welcoming; there is much to look at and much to do there; it is also a place that has many giftable items if you have a birthday or holiday coming up or need some walls to fill. If I had more time, I would have stayed and participated in the self-paced $10 watercolor painting project that was setup in the middle of the hall. Heck, I could be here all day!

These lovely senior volunteers are extremely friendly and respectful. They treat you like individuals and can tell they care a great deal. They also connect people with other low income services like The Salvation Army or Social Services. I use this place when I am in need and it has definitely helped me be able to get access to healthy foods when I can't afford it.

Dr. Daniel Bronstein, BEACON Clinic of Chiropractic, provides free Chiropractic services. There are nurses/doctors that provide mental health services as well. During freezing conditions the center is open 24/7 for those in need to have warm shelter from the elements and food service. You can donate canned foods, cooked foods, clothing, shoes, toiletries. You can donate personal time to volunteer in cleaning or garden work. Prado Day Center is an excellent spot for those in need. It's a safe haven. Let's be a hero for someone. They had lots of good food and it was easy to serve and there's plenty of parking and it worked out fine. If you need a fancy fancy new everything new place, this maybe not fancy enough for you. But for us it filled the bill with plenty of space easy to use kitchen area and a lot of happy people. The prices were reasonable for rental and what can I say I'd use it again if I was throwing a big party. Give it a run by and review the place and see what you think.
