I do wish their other screen was up and running as the only one on I had to keep looking over to look at. Their Fourth of July fireworks show on the 3rd was epic! I would like to say though to bring earplugs, the acoustics made them so LOUD.

I'd seen the visiting team -- the Saint Paul Saints -- but it was back in their Northern League Days when Mike Veeck owned the team. Either way, this was outstanding baseball in a wonderful environment. As I've mentioned in other ballpark reviews, I'm a former broadcaster who has seen hundreds of baseball games at all levels across the country. Though I've been to plenty of MLB games (dating back to the days of Arlington Stadium, Veterans Stadium, Shea Stadium and the former Yankees Stadium), I'm still partial to minor league baseball. Sure, I enjoyed seeing the likes of Juan Gonzalez smashing balls into the parking lot and Curt Schilling striking out 16 Yankees (that was in 1997, and I loved it with all my heart), but seeing players who are trying to make it to the show -- or trying to make it back, such as so many players on the Mud Hens -- brings me greater joy. Seeing a game in Toledo was a bucket list thing for me, if only because of Jamie Farr's character on MASH. With such a nice little stadium and wonderful baseball to boot, I wish I'd come sooner. A couple of caveats though. First, I've paid less for parking at a Coldplay concert. Further, at least those lots took cards. (These guys only take cash, but I'm sure the parking lot owners report their earnings to the IRS -- NOT!) Secondly, the hot dogs at this park are saltier than the Black Sea. Thank God I took a double dose of Amlodipine! But seriously, I'd come back here in a second.

There are plenty of spots to park but if you want to get prime parking definitely get to your event early! We came for Pizza Palooza where I was working a booth. The line was out the door a long ways, I'd say for as many events as there are here I would expect a safer method of getting people in the door as there were cars trying to get in a out. Which with kids and people walking it just seems like this could be improved as it was very congested by the gates. The venue itself is wide open and plenty of stuff to do for kids and parents. It was very nicely set up with good bands playing all night. One more thing I would improve is the bathrooms, they were decent but I feel like as much money as they get the bathrooms would be cleaner. Everything was well stocked though.

Now, it might just be a function of the shows and events that are held here (pizzapalooza, the 80s party, the 70s party, the 90s party, all the tribute bands and the other live music), but anytime I've ever been here, it's been a blast! If you're drinking, they have plenty of options. If you're not, they have fewer, but still plenty of, options. The food? Well, outside of special events (like pizzapalooza, or food trucks with the craft beer fest), the food is what you'd get at a neighborhood swimming pool. Never great, but never horrible. PRO TIP: if you're attending an event here, and you're able to bring a crew, make sure that you rent a table. It's worth the dough. As is the glass museum across the street, this museum is free to visit. The exhibits here are world class and include a massive array of art over a 4,000+ year time frame. We also enjoyed the sculpture works outside the museum. I mean, who the hell doesn't want to get on a huge tire swing, play musical instruments or lay on a hammock made of glass?! Now if u want free parking you may have to walk a bit. Parking will run you $10 during special events, $5 during regular days. The stadium is a nice size with plenty seating. I saw lots of concession stands that seem to have domestic beer and simple drinks. Hotdogs etc that you would expect for baseball. We had paid for VIP access and there are several VIP areas upstairs with plenty of seating. We came for beer festival n felt it was a great venue.

I didn't know too much about the Great Lakes so I thought I would visit this museum. The museum…read moreconsists of two parts: an indoor museum that is semi-interactive. There is a series of non-stop videos on the Great Lakes, maps, history, gift shop, etc. Everything is labeled and explained. The second part is the ship - Colonel James M. Schoonmaker. Both are self-guided tours. The indoor museum will take you about an hour if you read everything and see some of the videos. The ship, however, will take you at least an hour plus depending on how depth you want to know about the ship. The ship has two levels; bottom level is where the engines and storage are located. The top level is the deck that leads you to their living quarters. The living quarters is two stories with no elevators. The bottom level is accessible only by a steep, narrow iron ladder.

Right from the first meeting with Becky, we knew this was the right fit for the wedding reception. Our goal was to have all events for the weekend in Downtown Toledo and The Summit Event Center was perfect! The Hotel was a block away and all other events were close by within walking distance which made it easier for the guests. Becky is so informative and professional, always returning calls or emails within a day. Becky and her staff took so much stress out of the wedding reception planning. The free monthly tasting were so helpful. This gave us a chance to bring various people to the tastings to help choose the right food and see the venue. It also gave us an opportunity to get to know the staff. They exceeded our expectations! We wanted to customize our food and make it a fall theme. Chef Keith was so helpful and willing to figure out the right combinations of foods. The late night snack of chicken chunks and mac and cheese was a huge hit! Hannah, the Bar Manager, made a fall specialty drink with warm apple cider that was also a favorite with the guests. All of the waitstaff were attentive and polite making sure everything was as we had requested. The house DJ was an awesome choice! Having the use of the inventory of event decorations was a big money saver. We loved going thru the items to get ideas. The package pricing made it so much easier to plan the budget for the reception. Becky was so helpful in making changes to the package that fit our needs. Our families and friends had an excellent time from the delicious food and drinks to the fun dance music to the wonderful decorations, we highly recommend having an event at The Summit Event Center! About 45 minutes later we were finally called up to the buffet just to find out that pretty much all the food was gone anyway. And the food that was left was cold and not at all flavorful. Huh??? There was a metal box in a breezeway that said donations. Ok so I placed books underneath so someone with some ambition could sort in the morning. Nope, guy comes out and says I am littering. Took books to Goodwill. Don't know what was up with this apparently lazy man. Won't donate again despite being a generous patron over the years.
