Nothing says home like a good ol Mud Hens Baseball game! Great little field and venue with plenty of food options and viewing opportunities. The area around the field has really grown so much it's gorgeous! There is so much to offer before and after the games too. We got great seats next to the dug out which was prime viewing for all the action. Although we didn't get any baseballs :(. I do wish their other screen was up and running as the only one on I had to keep looking over to look at. Their Fourth of July fireworks show on the 3rd was epic! What a nice little stadium in a charming town! With wonderful baseball to boot! The Toledo Mud Hens, at the time of my visit here, were the AAA affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. I'd seen the visiting team -- the Saint Paul Saints -- but it was back in their Northern League Days when Mike Veeck owned the team. Either way, this was outstanding baseball in a wonderful environment. As I've mentioned in other ballpark reviews, I'm a former broadcaster who has seen hundreds of baseball games at all levels across the country. Though I've been to plenty of MLB games (dating back to the days of Arlington Stadium, Veterans Stadium, Shea Stadium and the former Yankees Stadium), I'm still partial to minor league baseball. Sure, I enjoyed seeing the likes of Juan Gonzalez smashing balls into the parking lot and Curt Schilling striking out 16 Yankees (that was in 1997, and I loved it with all my heart), but seeing players who are trying to make it to the show -- or trying to make it back, such as so many players on the Mud Hens -- brings me greater joy. Seeing a game in Toledo was a bucket list thing for me, if only because of Jamie Farr's character on MASH. With such a nice little stadium and wonderful baseball to boot, I wish I'd come sooner. A couple of caveats though. First, I've paid less for parking at a Coldplay concert. Further, at least those lots took cards. (These guys only take cash, but I'm sure the parking lot owners report their earnings to the IRS -- NOT!) Secondly, the hot dogs at this park are saltier than the Black Sea. Thank God I took a double dose of Amlodipine! But seriously, I'd come back here in a second. read more

On a whim, we decided to go to a Mud Hens game on Saturday night of Memorial Day Weekend. It just so happened, the Toledo Walleyes hockey team was also playing in the playoffs (they were ahead in the best of 7 series 3 -1). Needless to say, parking downtown is challenging enough, let alone having the Mud Hens an the Walleyes game simultaneously, made it nearly impossible to find parking! Bought a couple tickets on 1st base side in row T of lower level for $10 each. Cha-ching! Sadly, the Mud Hens aren't having a stellar season by any stretch of the imagination at just below 50% win rate. Fifth Third Field is a decent venue to take in a Minor League Baseball game. Not really a bad seat in the house. Stadium is very well kept and efficiently run. Many food choices. Typical stadium pricing for food. Swamp shop has a decent selection of Toledo Mud Hens merchandise. Typical stadium pricing. I have had the opportunity to attend a couple game of another MILB team last year in Sugarland TX. I wish the Fifth Third Field had a similar buffet dinner and game combo. read more

We had a blast at the Mudhens games on the Fourth of July. The fireworks show is amazing! We like to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn and walk over to the game. The concessions are extremely expensive and the food is less than quality. The last time we went we waited probably 20 mins to get ice cream and by the time they handed it to me, the order was wrong, it was melting and overflowing out of the cup onto my clothes, there were various other colors/flavors of ice cream on mine like they didn't clean the scoop, and it was not sanitary (not clean, lots of people touching, no gloves that I saw). I was thankful that they allowed my water bottle due to medical exemption. Sometimes they let the kids run the bases after the game. The game itself was fun. The security guy kept staring down our row weirdly and it made me uncomfortable, but I guess safety seems good? A person got hit by a foul ball (must not have been paying attention) and there was pretty prompt medical attention. The scoreboard looked nice and the crew did a nice job keeping the crowds attention with the wave and dance activities for the kids while we waited for firework set up. Overall, it was a great game, just eat before you get there! read more

Attended a catered event at fifth third field during a MudHens game. The catered food was crap. They served macaroni and cheese, some kind of bratwurst, and chicken breast. The food was worse than school cafeteria food! The bratwurst was like a mushball rolled to resemble a hotdog. Couldn't believe how much my company paid for that crap food. We really enjoy this stadium but we picked the wrong section. Avoid section 118. There seems to be a ritual that everyone must stand up whenever the opportunity presents itself. This obstructs the view of home plate. Common courtesy in most parks we've visited is to not stand or go get food until the mid or end of the inning. That didn't trickle down to section 118. The other 2 times I've been there this didn't happen. read more

Great family ballpark. Everything is cheap and the atmosphere is great. Plus, the stadium is top notch. You can also park right across the street in a gated lot for $7. I especially like that the beers and food is a fraction of the price when compared to the big league team north of here. It makes a ballgame affordable for a Family. I recently sat in seats that were about 25% of the cost for the same seats at Comerica. Make sure to check out the team store in right field. Best of the Tiger ballparks including Comerica except for Joker Marchant down in Lakeland. Food is good and prices are fair. A bunch of great places to eat around the ballpark- before or after the game. Ticket prices have jumped since the missing COVID year- but that seems to be across the board, a fact that doesn't help bring fans back to the ballpark. Especially since I can watch all the Hens games plus every other minor league team for $40/yr. But back to the ballpark- seats are great and focused on home plate, second deck has a fantastic view of the park and the "Roost" has a unique view of the ballpark from the right field foul pole- 40 feet above the field. The merchandise shop aka the swamp shop is big and well stocked. Prices are normal for mlb/milb merch but they do have clearance gear that is very nice for discounts. All in all it is a great place to watch a game and fun when you get a good crowd. Parking is close and very reasonable. Enjoy the future major leaguers in a great venue for a fraction of the price! read more

I didn't actually see a game here. I attended an opening reception for a conference I was attending at the nearby Park Inn. The venue also hosts and caters events. The room we were in was fantastic, had a loft feel to it. We were well cared for by the staff and bartenders. A rep from the Mudhens provided an interesting and entertaining presentation about the team and the organization. (The group was marketers so we saw that side of the org.) However, the food was not so great. The appetizers were average and the dinner we had was below average. The chicken particularly was overcooked and tough. If they can fix the food this would be a great place for an event. read more

Fifth Third Field was part of my first baseball vacation trip that started in Cleveland and ended here in Toledo. Despite the fact that we were sitting near a group of children on a hot July day, I still enjoyed the park. Though my enjoyment began after I got up from my seat and walked around. There's not much of a view beyond the park but at Fifth Third Field it isn't necessary. The concessions offer lots of great options (I'm a sucker for a helmet sundae or a souvenir soda). The Swamp Shop sells a wide array of team products (I was happy to find an old school T hat like the one worn by Klinger on M*A*S*H). There are great views of the game from the outfield patio/terrace areas (which is where we ended up for most of the game) and lots of fun throughout the game for the whole family (loved the race between Kitty Holmes, James Flealand and Jamie Farrmadillo). Mud Hens fans take their team seriously and I totally respect that. My only regret is not getting a photo with Muddy before I left. read more

This is for the restaurant Bird Cage, and the whole stadium. For starters, the restaurant was a decent find. I had the summer salad and it was very good!!! I had no complaints! My husband had the philly flat bread, and that was less than mediocre. Not much flavor at all. But the restaurant looks out over the field and has good views of the downtown buildings. As far as the stadiums is concerned, it's a great minor league stadium. I was very impressed!! Lots of Concession stands and a good variety of food. We had our rehearsal dinner at Fifth Third Field and was just overall impressed with everyone that made our wedding weekend amazing. We went to Toledo specifically for the Mudhens. I didn't think it was going to be busy, I was wrong. The place was virtually sold out. We ended up with good seats, but if I went again, knowing how crazy busy it was, I would have ordered tickets ahead. The seats were $15/piece, which is more than we usually pay at Comerica, but again I think it was more because we signed up late. My kids loved meeting Muddy. It was nice to visit a nearby Tiger team which you could walk around without feeling winded. read more

Beautiful, clean stadium. This was my first visit. We had great seats. Fun event for the whole family. Very kid friendly. Take a stroll around the whole park to see all the views. My only complaint was the price on the pretzel braid and cheese. Waaay overpriced and not very good. Skip it. An single scoop of ice cream which is pretty big is only $3.50 which wasn't bad. This is a great place to watch a ball game. The mascots are always friendly and fun. I would love to see more food and beer choices but they do have a good but limited selection now. The low cost for the ticket along with the atmosphere makes it well worth the trip from Columbus. They have fireworks after the game on the weekends so that makes a nice added bonus. read more

I've been to several games at this field and have had a nice time each night. It's clean (for a public place) and there are often vendors with activities to do for the kids. There's even a little play area for the smaller ones! And picnic tables too. We were able to park for free not too far away. I love that they have themed nights. And the fireworks show is really impressive! I highly recommend staying for them. read more

Came here to watch the Mud Hens win which of course they did! Lots of fun here and it 's great to come here with a group of friends. Parking wasn't too bad, we were able to find a lot for $5. We weren't able to get any seats so it was standing room ($9) only unfortunately. We were still able to get a great view of the field right in left field. They also had a unique funnel cake shop called Farr Out Funnel where there are abut 6 different funnel cakes to choose from that range from $4-$6. We tried out the Farr Out Sundae funnel cake which came with ice cream, hot fudge, sprinkles, nuts, and of course whipped cream. This is a great place to bring the family here or a group of friends. They are always having fun events and promotions! We walked away with a bag of hickory smoked sausages last Friday night :D Pros: - Great baseball - Funnel cakes - Fun family atmosphere Cons: - we tried to walk around the back area of the outfield and we were told by this guy that we would have to go around the other direction because there was a private party going on. I'm ok with that but I wish there had been a sign to warn me about it so I wouldn't have to walk around the whole ball field Why I gave it a 4..... Little wonder this place is constantly rated as one of the best in the U.S. Crazy easy $5 parking. Restaurants in and out of the park. All seats up close and personal. The architecture is also fantastic. Also note this is the feeder team for the Tigers. This means some of the major league stats are rehabbing here. read more

My fiancee and I were able to bring our puppy to a ticketed event called Hens and Hounds, where dogs were allowed into the park during a game. While inside, we found the event staff to be very helpful, the food very tasty (we ate the Pot Roast Poutine, a bacon mac burger and a bacon mac hot dog), and the venue fairly clean and well-kept. Sight lines from right center field all the way around the concourse were excellent. We very much enjoyed our trip to see our future Detroit Tigers play, and our dog enjoyed the chance to socialize. read more

I recently held my husbands 30th birthday party at the ball park. We rented out the Roost which is out in right field and provides a spectacular view of the entire ball park from inside the enclosed banquet area or also from the seats that are directly outside. We had 50 people and the service was amazing, the food was delicious and the bar tender, Jackie, was great! I would definitely recommend this for an outing of any size.
