This park was pretty cool! I went for a nice stroll, trying to get back in shape. There was plenty to get into at this park or just a nice trail to walk through. They had tennis courts and basketball courts. So much to do! People were out and about being active, walking dogs. I followed the under the bridge and that was pretty cool, there's a little stream and nice scenery. It was really peaceful on a semi-chilli day. I'll definitely be back to walk around and see the sights! read more

Nice park along Irwin creek I walked while staying nearby for business. It's a mix of serenity and development running alongside a busy freeway. You'll find a large dog park here, some basketball courts, tennis courts and soccer fields. I walked about 3 miles, taking one branch that led to the Bank of America stadium and the Carolina Panthers training facility. There's a good deal of shade along the trails thanks to the trees. I saw a lot of Robins in and along the park trail. Frazier Park is a nice place to enjoy a walk while in the urban area of Charlotte. I enjoyed my walk there. I'll be back if I'm in the area again. read more

This park is a hidden gem right in Uptown Charlotte. We love to bring our takeout from City Kitch here to eat since it's only about 5 minutes away. The park itself is really cute. There's a little garden with lots of benches. There a couple of picnic tables scattered throughout the park. It's not a huge park, but it also connects to the Irwin Creek Greenway which is really awesome. We walked a bit of the greenway but didn't go far since I hurt my foot. I definitely want to go back to walk the whole greenway. Parking is easy. We parked on the street for free, but then found a parking lot with plenty of spots too. Big park not far from Uptown Charlotte with lots going on. While I was here today, there were a few players on the tennis courts and the dog park was pretty packed. Two full-court baseketball courts and two tennis courts as well as a large playground. Lots of walking trails, bike paths and open space. The park is very well shaded and that was very nice on this hot day. There are some street parking spaces on Fourth Street. I had a nice walk in the park this afternoon and will be back. Review JUST on the dog park- Cute little dog park hidden away in Uptown. I brought my dog here while on vacation; it was not too busy on a Friday morning. A few people there- both dogs and people were nice- and large enough space for all of our dogs to run and play. The park itself has a LOT of dirt, we went straight home for a doggy bath (can't imagine the amount of mud if it rains). Water bowls (and a hose) available, as well as doggy bags (outside the fence though). Few benches available throughout the dog park, plenty of room to sit, and a few shade trees. This review is strictly based on the dog park. I have visited this location on several occasions & my doggies love it. The dog park is split off into a large dog section & a small dog section. The large dog section is massive! I couldn't believe how far it stretched during my first visit. I am from Virginia & we do not have dog parks this size! Each section of the dog park has a water spout, plenty of picnic tables for the humans, pools for the pups, & various toys. The large dog section of the park is a mix of grass, gravel, & dirt. I have a love/hate relationship with this because my dogs are easily cooled off by the dirt on those hot summer days, but usually end up leaving with loads of dust. My biggest complaint is the fact that there are numerous mud puddles throughout the park. There is no true drain system around the water spout, which causes a ton of nasty standing water. My advice, bring a towel every time! Other than that, there are always friendly dogs & the park is kept up for the most part. I will continue to take my pups here. They leave happy & if they are happy, I am happy! read more

Parking has gotten even more difficult but I always manage to find the last spot. I've also noticed more and more people not picking up after their dog. I wish they had done bags placed throughout the park and another trashcan at the other end of the park. I know its peoples responsibility and it sucks they dont do it but maybe if it was easier they would. Other than those things it's a decent park. Good size. My dog loves it. Dog Park Review: There are very few dog parks in Charlotte and Frazier is the only one in uptown. The parking that I have found each time is off of the 4th street extension right outside the park entrance. There are maybe 10 spots on each side of the road that you can park in for a few hours. Once you get into the park, it takes a few minutes to walk to the dog park area. It is clearly gated and signed for the entrance and exits. There is a small dog side on the left and a large dog side to the right. I have always taken my goldendoodle to the big dog side out of my sheer "rule follower" ways. There is 1 trash can at the entrance and a poop bag despenser for your use. The water hose and bucket with water in it is questionable at times, and you are better off bringing your own water and bowl. The large dog side is very large and there is plenty of space, even with a lot of dogs! The main area is mostly dirt, with the far side by the water hose having a slope that always seens to have runoff water and mud. The far end of the park opens up to a square area that has some grass, but mostly a large mud pit from the runoff rain that never dried up. The vibe here is mostly to let your dog run around, get dirty, and if they happen to get into a tiff with another dog, the other owner maaay step in to help. Overall, we have not had any major problems, but I have been preventative and will have my dog play away from the entrance and troublemakers. Overall, I would recommend coming here, just be prepared for mud and dirty water. There are tennis courts and a basketball court that are always busy when we are there. In addition, there are walking and biking trails/paths, but be warned that when it rains, part of the path floods under an overpass, which makes it difficult to go on a longer walk. Pro Tip: bring your own water, bowl, and a large towel for cleaning up mud or for your dog to use on the ride home. read more

This review is for the dog park section of Frazier specifically... We came here on a Saturday morning with our 9lb Italian Greyhound and noticed that the dog park is sectioned off into two areas: "Large Dogs" and "Small Dogs." That's great, but the parks/rec department needs to put more signage clarifying what "small" vs. "large" means; don't leave it up to the general public to decide because 50% of this earth's population lack common sense. We took our dog into the "small dog" section because he is 9lbs and a small breed. Someone followed us in there with their pit bull/mastiff mix - it looked like it could've been a puppy or maybe just a low-rider, either way it was short-ish, stalky, and looked to have weight 30-40+ pounds. That dog clobbered mine and completely traumatized him. The rest of our time at the park my dog was whimpering and was too scared to even play with the small chihuahuas who came by a while later. There NEEDS to be a sign on the small dog gate clarifying that it is for small-breed dogs that are under 20lbs. Just because a dog is a puppy or short in stature doesn't mean it's "small." Also, it would be great if parks and rec could put some effort into growing and maintaining some actual grass in the dog park instead of just leaving it to be a dirt patch with a few weeds. read more

It is close to the house but will add that parkimg can be a challenge but you can usually find street parking. Currently contruction in the area so would note that when visiting. You can usually find a wayvout :) They have both a small and large dog fenced in area. As you would expect the area for the larger dogs us spacious and goes straight back. Glad upon my recent visit that I noticed some upgrades. Mainly new fences and pleased they are fencing off the muddy areas. Still can be muddy of course in places after a rain but helps. Large dog area is much larger than most dog parks I've been to. Whenever I go, there's a lot of very well-behaved and playful dogs there ready to play with my pup. I give only 3 stars because there's a big muddy ditch that's always full of disgusting muddy water runoff from the spigot. My dog ALWAYS runs through it and rolls in it to stay cool, resulting in a dog that needs a bath before being allowed anywhere. Knowing this ditch is there makes me not bring my dog as often because sometimes I don't have time to bathe him after. Suggest covering up that ditch or attaching a hose to the spigot for easy rinsing. read more

So! let me tell you quickly about my adventure here with Arlo to their dog park. Arlo (my dog): enjoyed the spot, lots of area around the space to sniff. Found a nice bench that he could cool off under. Other dogs around were friendly, not too pushy. He seemed to enjoy himself. Me: thought it was hard to find, googled on where to park. Still had no clue how to get there. *it's by the basket ball courts*. Don't worrk I'll post a tip too. *IT'S BY THE BASKETBALL COURTS* Everyone we met was friendly and their dogs were too. We had a couple incidences at another dog park with unneutered males causing some trouble, but that was not the case here. So please don't ruin our fun, all dogs should be neutered before going to the park, make sure you get that taken care of!! But all in all it's a nice clean park. I'm sorry to say it, but just pass on this location. There is little to no grass, muddy, and it's full of aggressive dogs and incompetent owners. On multiple occasions we have left after less than 5 minutes due to other dogs growling with lips curled, snapping, and lunging. When confronting owners, they say it's "just play" while the rest of the dog owners slowly file out of the park to get away. So many people are unaware of aggressive dog behaviors. We visited this dog park in November 2015. Love the fact that you can separate the big dogs from little dogs. I'm always scared that one would jump on my dog but my dog is a medium-size dog but I would be scared if she were smaller. I live in SC and we don't even have one dog park. And sometimes dogs just need to run. Wish we had one here. Both areas are fenced. I like this dog park. Recently a new dog park opened in Landrum SC. We have to check it out. There are two sections to the dog park. The large section is huuge. Literally so big you can get lost. Plenty of picnic table. Water source at both sections. Good sturdy double gates. The park itself could be cleaner, but i guess better than no park. Some toys left here probably by owners. Basketball court right next to the dog park. Frazier Park is in a lot of ways a hidden gem. It's very much on the outskirts of the city, so if you don't live in the Gateway area, you're probably not spending a lot of time here. But you should. After some much-needed cleaning-up and development, Frazier Park is a great place to head now. Great place to jog or throw a frisbee with friends, and there's a decent outdoor basketball court there, too. The games haven't been that great yet, but it's becoming more and more popular, so that should change sometime soon. Again, though, the real coup de resistance of Frazier Park is the new dog run that opened there recently, which has been an unmitigated success so far. This place is awesome and is a huge hit for all dog lovers in the city. The dog run is huge--there's lots of room to let your dog run free and play with the 50 or so other dogs that might be there, too. There's even a smaller pen where puppies and tiny dogs can frolic without getting trampled by larger pets. Again, great place to take your dog, especially on the weekend. Great place to meet fellow pet-lovers, too. read more

Frazier Park is a delightful, no frills park. The creek, green grass, and gorgeous big trees can make for a beautiful day. I often take my dogs to the dog park which is separated - one side for the big pups and one side for the little guys. On busy days, the one picnic table provided in each section can become pretty packed. There is a water spicket on each side which is great for keeping the babies hydrated. However, the spicket is surrounded by dirt which makes for a very muddy situation. Most owners here are responsible. However, I have seen some questionable behaviors over on the "big side." Some of those guys aren't always friendly with each other and owners can be too engaged in cell phone conversations or other activities to keep a watchful eye. Just be aware of your surroundings! There are basketball courts and tennis courts available. They are used very frequently in the summer but can really use a little TLC. Street parking is available for free along Sycamore Street. However, don't park in the wrong direction. I've seen tickets written for that before my eyes! While I live across the street from this park, I'm only comfortable going during daylight hours. After sunset, I'm not confident in recommending a stroll. read more

I feel obliged to say something nice about this park since that dude tried to kidnap a kid here last weekend. My most powerful impression of this park is the enormous trees. Really big, old trees overhanging a little creek and I-77. Very picturesque. If you close your eyes, the cars sound like a river. And if you face away from it, you can even see a rivier! There are tennis courts, but they are breaking up and, I'm sure, unplayable. There is a bike path, but it passes through dark urine-scented tunnels. Although when creek floods it flows through the tunnels and washes the urine away! A fine layer of river silt makes riding treacherous, but you can't have it all. There is a jogging path too, but it is a short loop and does not safely connect to nearby paths. By which I mean you have to cross the freeway. Or, like, an on-ramp or something. I remember the fear, not the details. I'm not making a strong case here. The park is quite nice and kidnappings are a rarity. Like, hardly ever. It was just that one time, and things worked out in the end. read more

Nice little retreat from urban space... in the middle of it all! Basketball courts, tennis courts, dog park, short walking paths, volleyball court, fields, and a playground can all be found here. I've only really used the tennis courts here, but it seems there is something for everyone. Despite the trees, there is a lot of 77 traffic noise that comes though so if you do play tennis and are distracted by noise, I wouldn't recommend these courts (no lights either). Your vocal chords do get a workout keeping the score or having a conversation with your opponent. :) read more

There is a water area, picnic tables and so much space for them to run. The greenway at this park is also really nice, going through Wesley heights residential areas and running parallel to an abandon railroad track. Lots of trees and a beautiful view of the city! Frazier Park is a hidden gem in Charlotte. It's right up in Uptown, but when you're there, if it wasn't for the dull roar of the highway, you would think you were out in the country somewhere. There's a little bit for everyone there. There's a running trail that goes a little less than 2 miles from end to end, so you can get a good little jog in if that's your thing. There are two basketball courts that aren't too busy most of the time, and they just resurfaced them , so they're better than they were. There are also two tennis courts too. There is a dog park with small and large dog areas, with water available and benches to hang out at while the dogs fight it out...Under the bridge from dog park is where the huge playing field is. It's a full size football field basically with a 1/4 mile track around the outside. And there is a kids playground too, so something for everyone and parking off of 1st avenue if you drive there. read more

This a a fun dog park! I usually go about once a week to help my dog get some excessive and make some friends. My dog is a mini Australian Shepard so he's a little smaller than a medium dog and every time we go there is no small dogs in the small dog area which is sad but he is ok in the large dog area! There is a small and large dog area which is great but it's not so good when there are no dogs there! The large dog area is HUGE.... They have so much room to run which is great! The only negative I have is that the area outside of the dog park is not the greates , apparently on the weekend there is a community service program ( like people that got in trouble and have to do it) which is kind of sketchy esp for a woman to be walking there by herself it makes you feel a little uncomfortable. read more

When I moved to Charlotte with my French Bulldog in late 2005, I was more than a little shocked that Charlotte didn't have an off-leash dog park within seven miles of Uptown. When Frazier Park opened last year to much fanfare, I was elated that my pooch and I would finally have a place stretch our legs and run around like crazy dogs. Although I haven't been disappointed with Frazier Park itself, I am underwhelmed at the City's efforts to provide for its canine citizens. By the way, if you need proof that Charlotteans are dog-crazed, visit Freedom Park any warm spring weekend and you'll see a stream of dogs and people that will make your head spin. Cue up the music for "Easter Parade" and you get the picture: dogs and people of every imaginable size, breed, shape, and color. Frazier Park has separate areas for both large and small dogs, and it is well-provisioned with water and poopy-bags. My only nitpick is that the groundskeepers need to monitor the dog areas for low spots and fill them in with topsoil or sand as needed. Once a muddle puddle turns into a mud-wallow, things can get out of hand quickly. read more

This dog park was just okay. Limited parking and I Had to walk through a muddy tunnel to get there (totally fell). Trash bags are located outside the park, There are trash cans within. There are two separate parks that you can ASSUME are meant to be split between small and large dogs, but it's not labeled. In the "small" dog park people were bringing HUGE puppies, which is unfair and scarey. There was a few bowls for water and a fountain, one picnic bench, and a few scattered toys. The first door in had a broken latch, so def be careful with runners. Overall, this park fits the bill. read more

Now that my pup is up to date on spay and shots she was ready for her first dog park experience. I was pleasantly surprised with Frazier Park. I appreciate that there are two separate areas, one for big dogs and one for small. Considering this was our first experience, and Bindi is a whopping 9 lbs soak and wet, we decided to stick to the small area (which had 3 or 4 doggies hanging out with their owners). She had an absolute ball running around and meeting new friends. I started with the leash but eventually felt comfortable enough to let her loose (which I watched-closely). All of the owners I met that day were responsible and courteous. Everyone picked up their doggies messes which the bottom of my shoes appreciated. They have a picnic table to sit down too. While they provide a drinking station for the little dogs - the freshness of the water was a bit suspect - and truthfully it should have been a tad bit bigger. My other gripe was that while they have two kiddie pools for the dogs, both were dragged into the large dog area leaving our little pups without any water to play in... Overall the grounds are large and well kept, parking was not a hassle, and if you are careful about who your dogs interact with (observing which dogs may be more aggressive- and which area is size-appropriate), it is a good place to let them have a little bit of fun sans leash. read more

I visit here frequently and love the dog park. It's big enough to give the dogs plenty of room to play but small enough to get people socializing. Additionally, the dogs here seem much more well behaved than at Reedy Creek Park. My only 2 complaints are that the park is so close to 77 that there's a lot of road noise and that last time I went I laid a basketball by the door of the dog park and someone stole it. I was dumb to leave it there but it also shows you the quality of some of the people that hang around the adjacent basketball courts. read more

Have you ever felt the desire to find a quiet field with abundant shade, rest beneath a generous tree and read or merely rest, lulled by the sounds of birds, insects and the wind? Well, you don't quite get that here. The park itself is peaceful enough with its walking paths, abundant greenery and a little rippling creek. But the peace is spoiled by the rush of traffic on the surrounding highways. A constant roar in the distance. Still, as long as you aren't looking for contemplative silence, there's plenty with which you can stay busy. They have courts for tennis and basketball, and picnic tables to fill up after a rousing game. There's apparently a playground somewhere for the kids (I didn't see it myself). And of course the place is extremely dog friendly with designated dog play areas, for small and large breeds, as well as complementary biodegradable doggy doodoo pickup mitts. It's got plenty of space for basketball and other sports, in addition to greenway trails, but the newest amenity that everyone is talking about is the dog park. It's the first off-leash dog park in uptown, giving urban dog-owners a nearby place to play with their pooches. To be honest, I'm not really a dog person, but I've accompanied friends to the dog park. They seem to love it. Not a terrible park, especially if you are trying to compare it to Freedom but it's great if you live nearby and especially great if you have a dog. My apartment building backs up to a gravel path that opens up to the soccer field. There is a paved path that loops around the field, perfect for walking or jogging. There are tall trees and brook that runs along the side of the field and if it wasn't for the highway not too far away you would forget that your a mile from city center. Across the street there are a few tennis courts in decent condition and a no-leash dog park. The dog park is by-far the most bustling part of the park and seems to be well maintained. Because it is technically on the "out skirts" of the city I would be mindful of your surroundings, which is really common sense for anywhere. Love having this place so close to my home! read more

Great dog park like how the big dogs and the small ones are separated. As with any park keep an eye on your dog and be weary that dogs can be aggressive and possibly not be on the best behavior. Witnessed a incident this weekend that could of been prevented since the owner of that dog even knew their dog didn't behave appropriately for the dog park. Always worries me when you don't have to show proof for vaccines for the dogs to protect them and others! Words of Advice: watch your dog and enter at your own risk read more
