What I love about this type of dance studio is that it is a place for freedom of expression and confidence building. Even though it may be out of many peoples, comfort, zones, Pole dance classes have the power to empower. The studio is small with one studio/pole dance room so only one class goes on at a time. Just passed the studio, there is an area with cubbies to store your belongings, a small bathroom, and a small lounge area with seating. The studio was incredibly clean And the studio floors were immaculate. In addition to the regular scheduled classes, the studio also offers occasional workshops. They have an upcoming striptease/lap dance workshop.

Keri, our instructor, was able to tailor the lesson to his pace, and build his confidence up- we we both had a lot of fun and felt great about the outcome of the lesson. Keri even offered to professionally mix 2 versions of the song we chose (at my dad's request) for a small extra fee. It was wonderful we could get that taken care of at State of the Arts- one less thing to worry about! My husband and I moved to Denver a year and a half ago from DC, where we were very active in the…read moreswing dance community. We tried a few lesson programs here (we're not great and definitely need instruction!) and ultimately, we really struggled to find a great environment to learn to dance in Denver. But just recently, we found Swingin' Denver! We dropped in for an advanced Lindy Hop lesson last night and loooved it! The instructors are really good dancers and the lessons are challenging - which is much needed for us since we've had a year and a half break from any instruction/social dances/practice whatsoever. The instructors are friendly and dedicated to creating a friendly, inclusive, active swing dance community in the Denver area. They appear to plan several social dances (some with DJs but some with live bands - which are the best kind of social dances). At the conclusion of each class, the instructors videotape the moves and post them on Youtube, which is great since my husband and I love to practice. I'm really excited to attend future classes - maybe I'll even check out a Balboa class. If you're looking for Lindy Hop instructors, I highly recommend Swingin' Denver!

The atmosphere is very cliquey and not empowering to the young men & women who are there simply because they love to dance. Especially for teenage girls, this studio is toxic. The catty and exclusive behavior of the dancers in company is not discouraged. The instructor, by the name of Julia, is demeaning to the dancers who are not in company and provides them with very few opportunities to expand their dance skills. One student left two weeks before the recital because of the way this instructor treated her. There are so many wonderful dance instructors. Why settle for one that has the ability to influence the minds and bodies of the students in a negative way? After several years at the studio, our child could no longer take the emotional toll the studio's atmosphere was having on them. Look elsewhere. There are other choices when it comes to finding a dance studio where your child can flourish and be happy doing what they love.

Long overdue, because I just got Yelp! But I've been to B-Boy Factory multiple times in the past…read moredecade, whenever I visit Denver, CO, and it is a very dope spot! Open Sessions / Top Rock Class / Foundation Class / B-Girl Class (AsiaOne, Bgirl Pioneer even teaches here!) Most people don't know where to take breaking (breakdance) because most private dance studios focus on other dance styles (Hip-Hop Choreography/Ballet/Jazz/Tap/Contemporary), but luckily this studio's primary focusing is breaking! The owner Ian Flaws is very committed to the art form and even went to Korea and other places in the world to bring back knowledge to teach to his students! One of the head instructors Kid Cruz was a Red Bull BC One Regional Champion back in 2012 and gave me awesome tips for headpins that no one else could've taught me back home. They also raised/trained Bboy Run who is now part of the world famous Renegade Rockers. Speaks a lot about the instructors at the studio! Parking is very accessible! I can't stand dance studios where parking is impossible! so that helps tremendously. Class prices are also very affordable! They also have cool merchandise on their website!
