With another recital weekend behind us, it is evident that Ms. Debbie goes above and beyond what is expected in order to make this show a success. Despite having to run around and delegate a thousand responsibilities, resolve issues, and make sure every child remains safe, she somehow stills finds time to help with the little things like moving a prop off stage or helping someone do their hair before performing. I can't imagine many owners doing the same if "all they care about is taking your money." One thing that continues to inspire me about Ms. Debbie is her strength. She is not one to easily pass off responsibilities because she wants to ensure that every aspect of recital weekend (and throughout the year) runs smoothly and as fair as possible. Taking on the challenge of this chaotic weekend and the months of preparation leading up to it is no easy task!! Lastly, Ms. Debbie is so well-loved; she graciously passes on her passion for dance to every student she encounters. I am always in awe by how many students come up to her on a daily basis saying that they miss her and love her. Some of these students she has never even had before! That is the loving energy that Ms. Debbie gives off; I don't know about you, but that is something that is not so easy to come across today. We started in the beginners class knowing little to nothing and have already progressed to the more advanced level in that time. Sasha is an incredible instructor; clear, patient, and highly skilled at breaking down steps into manageable pieces. She layers skills thoughtfully, building confidence while continually adding complexity. One of the things we appreciate most is how quickly she can gauge what each dancer needs. Even in a group setting, she's excellent at pausing the class to correct and clarify, making sure everyone truly understands before moving on. She also complements her classes with social dances, which give students a chance to practice in a relaxed setting, and she has built a community that is not only supportive but genuinely warm and welcoming. We look forward to our weekly escape from work, and we're always surprised by how much we continue to learn in such a short period of time. Try a class or two; you'll be hooked.

We started coming here when they opened in 2017 mostly because my wife wanted to. But it is impossible not to be won over by the place. The franchise owners Thomas and Fransiska, are champion dancers themselves and as mesmerizing to watch as anyone on DWtS. They are incredibly warm and welcoming and are constantly creating parties, showcases, and events to make it fun. We take most of our lessons with Klaudia who is amazingly energetic, knowledgeable, fun, and a perfect teacher who always knows just what to say to help us get better. She is a pure delight. Arthur Murray has a well-established structured curriculum with about a dozen levels (the highest being practically like a professional dancer) which requires specific steps and techniques to be mastered before graduating to the next level. It amazes me, but they can actually teach people to dance--not just the steps, but all the moves. We actually look like dancers now. The arrangement is more like belonging to a club. You pay for weekly individual lessons but are free to attend group lessons, which are offered 6 times a week. In addition, they host twice-weekly evening "practice parties" where they dim the lights and play 2-minute clips of all the different dances for everyone to dance their steps and just have fun. My wife can't get enough; she is at the studio 6 times a week. If you have any inclination to learn to dance, there will never be a better opportunity to do it than Arthur Murray Tenafly.

Call in if you're looking to attend class soon, but stick to email if your inquiry isn't urgent. It does take some time for them to get back to you because they have so many people to get back to. I reached out via email because I wanted to take a hip hop class for fun but lack dance experience. The best thing about a private session is that tutors cater their lessons to suit your level and pace. After further consultation about the type of dance style and music I was interested in, they helped me book an appointment. I also wanted to note that I was being rather difficult due to a change in my schedule and went back and forth about attending the class. I initially asked for a refund but ultimately decided to attend and the staff were really understanding about it. A class costs about $100 not including other add-ons (music video editing and filming). If you decide to schedule a private session you should have the following information prepared -location you want the session at (you're responsible for renting the studio space if you choose Manhattan) -dates and time preferences for the session (classes are based on instructor availability which typically means most weekends during the afternoon or evening) -style of dance and music suggestions (instructor ultimately decides on the routine and song but you can tell them what you're looking for) Once you're booked you'll get a confirmation email and payment instructions. Payments must be made at least 2 days in advance before your class. GETTING THERE: You can take the F to Parsons and hop on the Q65 bus if you don't want to take the LIRR. I believe the F, 7, N, and Q can also take you there but expect to do a couple of transfers if you don't live in the area. I'm hours away from the flushing location but I made the trip based on reviews. I'm not confident enough to perform in groups and decided a private session would be a good way to start. I heard how welcoming and friendly the instructors and students are at this place so decided to give it a shot. THE LESSON: I just finished my private lesson with Christina and I feel empowered. We danced to Ariana Grandes God is a Woman which was originally prepared for one of their intermediate classes. Her choreography really had me feelin myself. I have two left feet and at times got really nervous trying to be technically accurate but Christina was so patient with me and gave excellent tips on how to loosen up and enjoy dance. She broke down all the steps clearly, slowly and then we practiced on an off with music. I definitely want to continue practicing and come back for lessons again. Also, as a heads up be sure to ask if you can record the session because they typically only record when you're done with the entire choreography. For those of you who are beginners as well, live close to Manhattan, and want to try group classes she recommends Ness and Fernando (my spelling might be inaccurate) if you're looking to learn upbeat hip hop style dance. They teach on Wednesday and Friday. Overall, this class really helped boost my confidence and it was worth the cost and trip.

Mariann's School has many opportunities for growth at any dance level. The staff sets high expectations for their students with focus on respect to each other as well as the art of dance. Whether you're looking to do something new or lose weight, they offer a variety of classes from Candlelit Aerial Yoga to Aerial Dance Fitness! They even offer family yoga! Came here for the funnest salsa class of all time: Benito Bowl pregame!…read more We were so excited to come here for SuperBowl Sunday and do the BaiLe InOLviDaBLe salsa on 2 all levels choreography workshop set. We spent 1.5 hours warming up, getting used to the flow, learning beginner level salsa, even Suzy Q salsa step. I've danced salsa for so many years but never actually took an adult dance class just for fun. It was the perfect date with my favorite +1 and such a fun way to do something different and learn something new with zero pressure. Kathryn was amazing and she made it so easy to learn. We had a full house and everyone was so fun to dance with no matter the skill set or experience, everyone was welcome. Absolutely love the revamped studio and how big and full of light the room is. There are so many classes on their schedule and so many fun things to try for adults only. Great space where no one takes themselves too seriously and you can come learn and have fun. Can't wait to do another fun class here again!
