The small room that we gathered in was very nicely decorated, and the seats were comfortable. We bought our own flowers to the funeral home to save the family money at the suggestion of the director. We started to plan his services with their team knowing. Sadly, it was a terrible, incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience from the very beginning. We learned quickly that Gallagher Funeral home had sold to a larger corporation and despite having a 'case manager' we were often speaking to different people who were not in communication with one another. No one ever met us face to face and their lack of clear communication internally and lack of care for my family only made a difficult time harder. There is so much to handle when planning a funeral and we had hoped for guidance and inspiration when picking out the details, and none were provided. When we asked for help with the programs for the church service they emailed me to say 'I needed to do them myself, as they had messed them up in the past.' The day before my father's service our main point of contact 'Hanah' told us she would be out and a colleague would meet us at the church and handle helping block off parking, organize the procession, not to mention delivering my father's ashes, their role is to generally direct the funeral. This new person showed up 15 min before the service started, we had over 40 people already in the church without prayer cards and my family totally bewildered on what we were supposed to be doing. 'Ray' said 'don't kill the messenger, he got this job late last night.' He knew nothing about blocking off the parking meters and said that the cops would be understanding on the busy avenue about people parking for a funeral and not ticket! The entire experience was so terrible and so very upsetting it moved me to find a way to write a review as on their elaborate website they only have positive glowing reviews, I can only assume those were from before they became part of a larger group where customer service was not a priority. I would strongly encourage anyone to not use this vendor.

Further, the prayer cards selected were not ready in time for funeral and when provided several days after listed incorrect birthdate. At services personnel had to be called from outer church hall to retrieve casket as they were nowhere in sight. Even the death certificate sent to attorney had incorrect birthdate. Details were sloppily handled. I would never use them after this display.

They took extra care to find a preacher from my relative's country to lead the services--that was such a thoughtful touch. Please move away from money grubbing funeral homes like the one in Canarsie that everyone goes to -- they don't care about you nor your family member.
