We met with Nick, discussed what was desired in our family member's funeral, and he guided us to explore the different options. While difficult, Nick made it as easy as anyone could possibly make it, and did not attempt to influence our decisions one way or another. He simply presented the options and allowed us to decide. Once done, he prepared a detailed quote. While their full service funeral service is not inexpensive and there may be less expensive options, we found that Nick and team managed every element of the process and ceremonies very well and were professional from start to finish. And things on the bill are repeated just worded differently, so ur basically paying for the same services a few times. But not only that, you pay over $3k for things such as supervision and for someone to direct the guests, that wasn't done, everyone was walking in the wrong direction causing traffic in the room. They also asked us which flower arrangements we wanted to keep after all is said and done, we told them which arrangements and we put it on a side table and they promised to set it aside to pick up after the funeral. Well that wasn't the case, the next day when we called to let them know we were picking them up, we learned that they sold our flower arrangements back to the other florists they work with. He then told us he would replace them but he never did. They return your phone calls before they get your money, but once you pay, your on your own. There was only one person that was a good guy and that was Carl. Everyone else there is disgusting. They are patronizing and condescending and don't give a crap about people that are mourning Bc it's something they do everyday, they are like robots. Oh and on top of it he said he would take off $200 off the bill, because the hair and makeup charges were over $500 which is ridiculous... when it was time to pay he didn't take it off the bill, instead Nick played stupid as if he was going to do it at the end...we had him recalculate everything Bc the total was way above what we agreed on. We made him break it all down. then he adjusted to the correct number. Then he just took $125 off the over calculated bill. We were so tired and stressed that it wasn't even worth arguing at that point. Beware of this place. Make sure you do your research on prices before you shop around. We chose that place Bc of the location, wasn't even worth it. Nick Farenga your a disgusting pig.

We learned quickly that Gallagher Funeral home had sold to a larger corporation and despite having a 'case manager' we were often speaking to different people who were not in communication with one another. No one ever met us face to face and their lack of clear communication internally and lack of care for my family only made a difficult time harder. There is so much to handle when planning a funeral and we had hoped for guidance and inspiration when picking out the details, and none were provided. When we asked for help with the programs for the church service they emailed me to say 'I needed to do them myself, as they had messed them up in the past.' The day before my father's service our main point of contact 'Hanah' told us she would be out and a colleague would meet us at the church and handle helping block off parking, organize the procession, not to mention delivering my father's ashes, their role is to generally direct the funeral. This new person showed up 15 min before the service started, we had over 40 people already in the church without prayer cards and my family totally bewildered on what we were supposed to be doing. 'Ray' said 'don't kill the messenger, he got this job late last night.' He knew nothing about blocking off the parking meters and said that the cops would be understanding on the busy avenue about people parking for a funeral and not ticket! The entire experience was so terrible and so very upsetting it moved me to find a way to write a review as on their elaborate website they only have positive glowing reviews, I can only assume those were from before they became part of a larger group where customer service was not a priority. I would strongly encourage anyone to not use this vendor.

Keep in mind that the COVID-19 pandemic was at its peak in the Bronx. I understand precaution and maintaining distance, but the funeral director made no prior mention on the phone about their current method of interaction with visitors. To actually put up a notice which states, "No walk-ins", while displaying a disclaimer of the pandemic which so many other essential businesses are doing, would have been sensible in order to notify visitors to not step foot into the funeral home and the reason why. I mean, you can't get more specific than that. Considering the doors are white, it would have been easy to see. But I checked a total of four times and I found nothing. Regardless of the guidelines on the news concerning funeral homes, that didn't change the fact that a notice should've been up outside. Now regarding the price for a cremation, which my mother requested for my father, the amount was almost $3,000. Two words: price gouge. As my mother and I were leaving, a woman, who works there and who had a nasty attitude, blocked the entrance. Like, seriously? This is where a notice would have sufficed so they wouldn't have to create their own little makeshift barricade with two vases and a table. I laughed for a good minute after I saw it. Or perhaps they should have just kept the door closed. Also, they should have kept themselves seated at the window where they talked to their visitors. But personally, I refuse to conduct business and do transactions that way as if it's a walk-up window at a fast food joint. That was our first and last time at this funeral home. The entire process and setting made it easier for those who had to make the arrangements and those who attended the wake less stressful. There's a small private parking lot next to the funeral home. I highly recommend this establishment. I've gone to many wakes in many locations and this was one of the better places I've been. The floral arrangements were spread out and displayed with care.
