On the way back from Salem, stopped in Freddie's to pick up some groceries. Store was layed out in an organized fashion, not always the case with Freddie's! Produce always looks fresh and vibrant. Using my digital coupons, I purchased the items I wanted, and on the way out, passed a sale rack in clothing. Do I need any more clothes? That's rhetorical. The answer is a big NO. But that's the thing about Freddie's, where you can buy groceries, clothing, household items, garden supplies, personal care, home decor and seasonal - there is a chance that you will find something you didn't go in for but can't leave without. As was the case today. on the sale rack, there they were, a pair of Levi's 318 wide leg jeans. For fun, decided to try them on since I have not worn Levi's since I was a teenager. Well, they fit perfectly, like actually the best fritting and best looking jeans I ever tried on. So my stop for salad, onions, and cantaloupe led me to a steal (on sale $39) and random purchase of the best pair of jeans ever. Thanks, Freddie's! As a neighborhood staple, they usually have what I need. Their convenience off the I-5 wins customers as well as vagrants. As a midwest transplant, I've always been loyal to Kroger, so not much different here, outside of the prices being a bit inflated. I am definitely a fan of their 'Woo Hoo' deals aka Manager Specials and dollar produce bags. Everyone I've encountered that works there has been pretty positive and helpful, but their grounds are littered with trash and they've recently started charging .50c to get cash back. Its the little things that make a difference in my book and they can do better. read more

This store is terrible. By far the worst grocery store in Salem. The employees are rude and the aisles are always way too crowded with pallets full of items and employees doing internet orders and stocking shelves; isn't this stuff supposed to be done at night??? The self-checkout machines are a bad joke and require constant overrides from staff so they take twice as long as anywhere else and their prices when using coupons, etc. are often incorrect. They also have armed security guards that are very unprofessional and will get someone hurt one day. It is very sad what this store has become; even Walmart is far better. read more

Re: Young Guns Fresh Hatch Chile This is the 3rd time that I have been ripped off by Young Guns, via Fred Meyer. I bought a 25# case of supposedly Hot Chiles. Got tem home and roased them. They are no hotter than a bell peppers. I wrote to YG to about the quality of their chiles and got no response. I got no response the previous time this has happened. I can only assume that they don't care about people that have purchased their inferior products. Why would they? They have a monopoly on the market here in Oregon. Regretfully chose to use the "Key Me" key copy machine located in the front of FM on Market. After already scanning in keys and prepaying...an associate in a yellow vest advised me this machine had been malfunctioning for awhile, informed me that there is a "Kroger Key Machine" in the rear of this store. I asked why there wasn't a sign posted warning customers it was malfunctioning or of the store brand machine location. The associate waited as my keys were cut and dispensed. None of the keys were even close. He advised that I go to the customer service desk, tell them that they know this machine is malfunctioning and to refund my $57. The associate at customer service was EXTREMELY RUDE, refused any refund and demanded to know exactly which employee sent me to her. I know this Fred Meyer doesn't get as much love as the other locations but I've always managed to come away unscathed. Many folks I know are anti-this location mainly because of service and inventory mishap but I've experienced no such issues. Some things I appreciate: * They have a gas station. Just as not all Costcos have gas, the same bodes for Fred Meyers as well. And the prices are pretty good at the pump and the attendees are pretty friendly. This is a win. * The store is clean. I don't see any unsightly stuff in the aisles, the floor seems spotless and the clothing section is organized with most things folded properly. Even the dressing room is well maintained. * I am here for the deals. And Fred Meyer is already kind of expensive (for common items) as it is so whenever they have a major sale on anything. I'm all for the seasonal stuff that they're selling for 75% off right out the gate. Things I'm not so crazy about: * The pharmacy. Sometimes they close up a tad earlier than listed and the people behind the counter could stand to be a *tinge* friendlier. * They renovated a few years back. I actually think it looks worse. Is that possible? Apparently. * Also, what happened to the electronics? I want to avoid going to places that rhyme with West Why to get my fix of electronics. I guess online really is the way to go nowadays. * This was at one point, one of the best FM's in the city. I'm not sure what happened, but there seems to be a lot missing from the puzzle now. Their men's clothing section was much more extensive and now it's a shell of itself. * When the deals aren't happening, it's not exactly cheap to shop here. Pharmacy has people in there that will lie directly to your face. I have had to ask them to please fill the prescription my doctor sent in over 2 hours prior or even days. They have told me they contacted my doctor and my doctor says he's received nothing(keep in mind been either my dr for 10 plus years and deal directly with him via email) and their system probably isn't working. They had my husbands name in system wrong so insurance wouldn't pay for meds(their mistake but never admitted to it) but they ended up calling him by his middle name and admitted over 3 months later they messed it up. We transferred from Clackamas store so nothing should have been wrong. We go days without our meds because they can't do our refills or we have refills earlier than needed on other meds. I have started moving our prescriptions to another place and they actually are cheaper with my insurances. They can get my prescriptions filled fast and they too are short handed. Fred Meyers needs to have a line dedicated to just pharmacy complaints! read more

Pizza, sushi, chicken, tacos, soups, sandwiches, and an entire bakery for dessert. This Fred Meyer racked up some 1 star reviews during a recent remodel. This multimillion dollar interstate business was taken over over by Kroger many years ago. I can no longer buy local here or feel confident my dollars support local business. And, this now multibillion company doesn't allow Apple Pay. Seems this business is behind the times. Prices here are on average with upper tier local grocery stores. After reading multiple reviews, this particular employee is very rude and has multiple complaints against her, why is she still employed with Fred Meyer? Associate like this give your brand a bad rep. I'm very disappointed with my experience at the market street Fred meyer this morning. I have been a regular customer at this store for a couple years now, and always have a good customer experience. I had hands down the worst experience I've ever had with ANY retailer this morning. I had a pickup order because I have a toddler who I don't want to take into the store during a pandemic. There were a couple mistakes with my pickup order where I was charged wrong for one item, and another item that had been substituted for an item they had out of stock was not price matched, so I paid more than the original item. No biggie, their tablets weren't working so I understand there was a couple errors and I didn't mind running back to the store because I live close by. I called customer service ahead of time to ask them if I needed to bring the items into the store for them to fix this, they said no, just me receipt. A few minutes later I arrived at the customer service desk and told the associate (named Olliwa, I believe) what was going on. She immediately gets on the phone with the meat department and starts giving them the wrong information. As she's on the phone giving them false info, I'm trying to correct her and tell her once again what I had told her to begin with (I bought some ribs that are usually $5.99 per pound, they were on sale for $3.99 per pound but it didn't give me sales price even though my rewards card was input) she's telling the meat department that I told her I was charged $18 instead of $5.99 and that I should know what I'm buying. She did not bother to listen to anything I said even though it was a pretty simple issue to fix. Then she looks at me while on the phone and says to the other employeee "she didn't bother bringing in the item." I CALLED BEFOREHAND AND WAS TOLD NOT TO. After being disrespected several times by this associate, I asked for someone else to help me. As this new associate, who was super nice and professional (her name was yuki) is trying to help me, olliwa is standing next to the associate talking about me, literally talking trash about the customer while I'm standing right there. At this point I lost my cool and asked for a supervisor. Even as I was explaining the situation to the supervisor, this employee continued to trash talk me and harass me. I literally asked her to leave my space while I was being helped because she was putting me in such a bad head space, and she responded with "no, you can leave. " I've never felt so disrespected in my life as I was by this person who is supposed to be helping customers. I worked retail for several years and I do not treat employees poorly by any means, I am a nice person and I think people deserve respect whether they are on the clock or not, but this lady was so rude it sent me over the edge. I am sad to say I will probably not be shopping at Fred Meyer after being treated like dirt for simply trying to correct a mistake that wasn't even my fault. read more

Very disappointed in the gas service right now. They want us to pump our own gas (which is no problem). The problem comes with the fact that they want us to touch all these places that many other people have touched without wiping anything down or providing sanitizers or anything else for the customers. I'm a senior who has been shopping at this FM since it opened but I'm considering going somewhere else. Here's why: This FM offers carryout service. However, lately when a checker calls for a carry out, nobody shows up. Once a thoughtful customer loaded my car after a 15 minute wait. After another long wait, the courtesy clerk apologized for the delay. I asked how many clerks were on duty and he replied, "I'm the only one". First a few things, the remodel is pretty much done now. And I'm unimpressed. It's only a few months old and quite often I go in and the glass doors on the freezers and cold sections are broken and taped together. They did a terrible job in choosing their new coolers and freezers. In fact I remember going in during the remodel and the coolers and freezers were only a few days old and already there were 2-3 broken doors. No more electronics store, now I can kinda understand why they took it out since the profit margins on those products are not generally very high and the sell through isn't the best I'm sure. With lots of pressure from online stores, this makes sense to me. But it's still disappointing. The biggest gripe for me is they got rid of their Big & Tall section. Only the South Salem store has a Big & Tall section now and I happen to live several miles north of Salem so I never go out there. And like others have said the gas station is very slow and there is always a line. I would rather go to Arco and they will be a penny or two cheaper after the 10cent discount without the line. Overall the new remodel has not impressed me one bit. read more

Freddie's has a pretty good selection of everything I am looking for. I love the organic and healthier choice chill aisle and got some strawberry kefir and almond milk. I don't think I'm crazy about the set up and would probably do the layout of the store a bit differently. It just seems the deli and bakery are either not in the best place or not brightly lit enough or..?? There's a kids play area where you can leave your children for up to one hour. After a trying day with the tots it was worth the trip to Fred Meyer's just for this one hour break! read more

This pharmacy is the worst! VERY slow service - I was put on hold a total of three cycles before they actually spoke to me. Then the tech who helped me was not only rude but then put me on hold AGAIN to go ask a question of her pharmacist and then put me on hold AGAIN after getting even MORE snippy with me saying I had to talk directly with the pharmacist when I asked her a simple question she could have easily answered herself. Despite the wait and her treatment, I was pleasant with her the entire time and don't believe I warranted her attitude. No matter how busy you are, I believe you should always be polite with whatever customer you are dealing with. I would not recommend this pharmacy to anyone as there are a lot of other options in Salem. read more

This used to be the best Freddie's in Salem, now it is the worst. The remodel is weeks behind, the service is marginal, and they are doing a lousy job keeping their shelves stocked. Ever since Kroger took over the chain has steadily declined. The elimination of the Electronics department is ot very smart, and why do we need another industrial looking shopping store. Their shelving and marketing is very much like Walmart now. So If I am going to shop at a Walmart, I guess I will go to the actual Walmart and save some money. The pharmacy is a joke. Part of the problem is under staffing and, unfortunately, they have some employees that are more than worthless. One is named Amber. She is a middle-aged woman with long, straight graying hair. She is dumb as a box of rocks. II gave her my information. Then she said, you don't have a current prescription. I said, yes, I do. This prescription had three refills, one of which had been filled. So, this is the second one. She stands there for 10 minutes staring at the screen. After I told her that, she finally found it. She did that to me on three different occasions. Another time I had to wait 30 minutes for one they failed to fill. Some of the other employees are really helpful and pleasant. One is a red-headed young woman, I think her name is Elizabeth. She is very nice, pleasant and helpful. Another was very helpful, but I only spoke with her on the phone, so I don't remember her name. She helped me with a discount card that reduced my payment from $250 dollars for one prescription to about $28 dollars. I was more than happy. Today, I went in because I needed that same medication. I, unfortunately got in the line with Alice, a fat, short older female. I checked on a medication that wouldn't be ready until Wednesday. OK, no problem. They had more for me. She said, one was $250. That was the one that I got with the discount card that was entered in my profile information. I said I wasn't going to pay that, that was crazy. I said I got that a lot cheaper with the discount card, but not Good RX discount card because G.R.X. was costing them too much, so they stopped taking it. She typed it in, and it read $66. She started having an attitude and I just ignored it. I said, why didn't you use the discount card in the first place? She said that that was what Medicare and my prescription plan paid. She had no intention of trying to save me any money. Why on earth would I pay $250 dollars for one prescription that was about $28 last time. By this time, she was getting pissy and copping an attitude. Then she said, do you want me to remove Medicare from your account? I couldn't believe it. I am getting pissed by now and said, Oh, you're funny, a real comedian. She said something else and said, do you want to speak with the Pharmacist. I thought, they want people to pay their insane prices when a lot of people can barely afford food, not to mention medication. I first said no, then changed my mind. I asked if he saw the reviews on his pharmacy. He wasn't surprised but wasn't too concerned. Said he would speak with the staff. He told me I could call Jennifer, the pharmacy manager, and file a formal complaint or call the G.M.of the store. I thanked him for listening to me, He didn't say anything and walked away as I did. Why would I call Jennifer? Obviously, she isn't doing her job. The outside is a garbage dump. The sidewalks are filthy. The inside is better. I left Walgreens because they are even worse. I am getting too old to deal with morons and BS! I will call the Regional manager because, as we all know, crap rolls down hill. Update: I contacted the regional manager for Oregon FM stores. He was pleasant and more than helpful. Very smart and uses common sense, lacking in some of the employees. Hopefully some changes in the pharmacy will occur and improve. It remains to be seen. He is also a Veteran. He should be the CEO. read more

These guys have a big store with plenty of parking, plus a gas station. Average Fred Meyer store. This one does have a fuel island. For each $100 you spend, you receive a 10 cent reduction on gasoline. As in all of Oregon, the station is mini-serve and you cannot pump your own gas. This store does not have a mainstream branded coffee outlet for some reason, but the deli has a VERY INEXPENSIVE "Kivu" espresso station. KIVU is a Kroger house branded coffee of fair quality. read more
