We chose Lakeside because we were assured by Jerame Tysdal, who was also the general contractor, that we would receive a better product for a better price than a bid he had received from a competitor. We later obtained a copy of that competitor's bid which was actually less than the quote and final invoice paid to Lakeside Plumbing & Heating. We weren't aware at the time, but Mr. Tysdal did not have previous experience designing a heating system but proceeded to do it himself. He vented the high efficiency furnace out the roof of our home and during a cold spell the first winter, the vent froze shut and our furnace stopped. We were not at the home at the time but fortunately there was other work being done on the home and the low temperature was discovered before the house froze. We had to hire another company to reroute the venting out the side of our house, which should have been done in the first place. We also have documentation to support that Lakeside Plumbing & Heating was paid for an air source heat pump and labor that was never installed in our home. We have been advised by the local authorities that Mr. Tysdal stated installed this merchandise that we paid for in another home. The other plumbers that had to come in and complete the project, as well as correct the mistakes, mentioned the work was not done using current practices.

Roto-Rooter is all I'd ever heard of but mostly because of their commercials, not reviews. Looking at some online experiences, people were estimating $300-$400, my jaw dropped! Instead, I first called a local company who didn't give me the time of day and was very rude so I decided against them as well. (A little side note here, I can't stand when you tell someone that you just want an estimate and when they give you one, and you say, "I'm gonna call around and get some more, thank you" they go on the defensive and start bashing every other company in town. To me, that's just childish; tell me what sets you apart from other companies in the area and be dignified about it.) Ok, back on point now... I called A-1 a little past 10:00pm and the man I spoke to (I wish I remembered his name because he was great) gave me an estimate and explained what he thought might be the issue. He answered all my questions and said he could have someone out at 8:15am the next morning. I was surprised because the last place couldn't even get me in the next day. Morning came and Tyler from A-1 showed up on time, assessed the situation and within 5 minutes, was laying down drop cloth and rolling in his machine. About an hour later, he was done and now everything drains correctly. The best part, the price I was quoted, was the price I paid! I won't give specifics, but let's say it was probably a little less than half of what I would've paid with Roto-Rooter. Bottom line, a great local company that knows how to talk to customers on the phone, show up on time, and get the job done at the price that was quoted.
