I adopted my second cat from here. His name is Oscar. It is obvious that the workers here love all animals. They are kind, make you feel welcome and really love the animals. Makes my heart want to cry. I also adopted the sweetest boy

This place is AMAZING! I got my first puppy from here today, and unfortunately it was during Covid-19, which made the process seem a little different than it normally would, but they were all so kind, gentle & so awesome! I submitted an application for a puppy on their website and the next day I got an email asking to meet/adopt my new pup! When we got there, we got to play with her and make sure we were a good fit & ask any questions we had. Then, the paperwork got started which took a little bit (surely not their fault) but I had no problem waiting, especially for my new best friend! Then once they got started, everyone was so sweet, they sent me all the info I needed and did a contactless payment. As an added surprise, my pup's foster mom left me a boatload of food, toys, puppy pads & treats! I am SO happy I chose to adopt from FSPCA, and I'll be recommending them to everybody.

This place is excellent! I live in DC, and came here twice knowing it would be where I would find my perfect cat. And I did!! They have over 300 cats at this clean no-kill facility, and it is set up in a way that makes it easy to quickly see how the cats respond to you. They had such a great selection, as opposed to the shelters we visited in DC, and the staff was incredibly sweet and accommodating. We knew the staff was really working hard to help find us a good match, and showed us good suggestions as we walked around. On the second visit we found a very sweet little girl cat named Colette and surprisingly, we were able to take her home the following day since our application had been approved from the first visit. Moving her into our home was as easy as pie-- we know that she is going to be as happy and sweet as was predicted by the staff of the SPCA. I highly recommend the Fredericksburg SPCA if you are looking for a new pet, or looking for a worthwhile charity to give money or supplies.

I rescued my dog from here several months back. She came with a dark past which I knew going in she'd be scared and untrusting with everything. The staff here guided me through to help her feel comfortable and come around. I probably asked a million questions and they were so sweet about being patiently and understanding my concerns. My baby girl has come out of her shell and she's the most outgoing doll ever. Please know that these people are sincere people and they genuinely care about each and every animal and finding it the best fit home!

To my surprise, I received a reply within a couple hours and my visit was scheduled. The day arrived and on a rainy Sunday, I was excited especially because I had visited many pet stores farther away and had horrible experiences. Well, I rang the doorbell and to my surprise, no one was there. A male spoke through the camera, busy street very hard to hear, so I retreated back to my car. Shortly after he coordinated with me for a phone call and I was informed that the puppy I was there to see was in fact sold the day prior. He explained that being the owner, he was very apologetic and would ensure a discussion with the "staff" member would occur and he was uncertain how the "scheduler" could have made a mistake. I don't really the lady's name but I'm almost certain it was the same name as the lady's name who was mentioned as his wife in a Fredricksburg news article when their business was acknowledged by the city a couple years ago. Nonetheless he tried to make it right by offering his services in the future and understood if I would choose not to do business with him again. He also offered to meet me at the boutique to see the puppies that were currently available and to send pictures of future breeds of interest, which he did but I was not interested. Long story short, 5 stars on how the owner handled the situation and how he tried to rectify the situation. 1 star on scheduling, follow up, and common courtesy to inform someone if the puppy they are scheduled to see was sold. This practice is a bad look because it implies the most important aspect is money and not necessarily finding a perfect fit home. Also, the dogs are there alone unless there is a visit schedule seems like a lonely life. The concept is great. One on one with puppies and an experience to match, just not my experience. It all worked out for the best in the end.

I found the waiting room and examination room clean and all staff welcoming Dr Kensek took time to patiently preform an extensive examination on my dog. She then explained all of the various issues thoroughly. She is still awaiting x-rays and records from my existing vet, which should have been forwarded last week. I was tremendously pleased

My family and our pets have been loyal clients of Compassion Veterinary Services since they bought the business from Lee Hill Veterinary. Today, I called the clinic because my cat is ill and was prescribed a special diet by an emergency veterinary hospital. Because Compassion Veterinary Services was closed when the emergency occurred, I had no choice but to seek immediate treatment elsewhere. When I contacted the clinic to ask about purchasing the prescribed cat food, Krista treated me with hostility from the beginning of the conversation. It became clear that she was reacting negatively to my accent and treated me in a dismissive and disrespectful manner. Just because I ask her why they denied me to purchase the food . Telling me and ask me several times if I was their client. During the call, Krista stated, "We don't sell to people coming off the street. We not a store go to Pet smart" This comment was humiliating and inappropriate, especially considering that I am an established client of the practice. In addition, Krista claimed that she was the manager / Supervisor and stated that she had blocked / Flagged my account , If this is true, it is extremely concerning. If it is not true, then misrepresenting her position and threatening to block a standing client is equally unacceptable. Experiencing this kind of treatment during an already stressful pet emergency was deeply upsetting. No client should be subjected to hostility, discrimination, or disrespect because of their accent or background.

But I had taken the day off work, woken up crazy early and driven over an hour to get there, so I decided to wait in line anyway. After about 90 minutes waiting in the off-putting "pound stink" of their building, my dog was finally checked in and I was next to hand in my paperwork. I guess the lady taking paperwork got the news that a vet had called out sick or something, and casually announced that anyone with a female dog might have to be rescheduled. Whatever, right? They then explained that the remaining vet didn't know how to spay a larger animal (larger meaning 34 pounds). I'm sorry, what? You have a vet that doesn't know how to spay a dog? I put on her paperwork that she would need trazodone, and then had to remind them in person and over the phone a total of four times before finally getting the medicine. Finally, they didn't bother getting my dog out of the second-level kennel, they just had me come back to the back and get her myself. So I lifted my urine-covered dog out of the kennel, turned around and the tech had just left. I saw myself out. I'm not sure if there's a system for investigating this kind of place or how veterinary malpractice works, but this place needs to shut down. A note to the clinic: trust me, I've seen how much you guys like to argue with negative online reviews. Don't bother, I'm not interested.
