I really enjoyed the artist history and story, but I dropped a star (was debating two) because after reading more about it after the fact, I'm pretty sure this is not condoned or associated at all by the artist (which would go against some of his or her messaging). Still, I personally did like the exhibit and learned a lot. I just prefer clearer communication from the exhibit about what it is and is not and ideally support from/to the artist. Banksy is a living artist legend of our time. Known for their elusiveness, street art and rebellious nature - this may not instantly appeal to everyone, but it did for me (but hey that's art right?). I casually followed some of his or her headlines over the years and always liked the underlying messages and rebellious nature of this artists work. I don't consider myself a Banksy or art expert by any means; however, after visiting this exhibit I felt a lot more attune to the artist and his or her passionate messages, struggles, frustrations, etc. I can't say this often: some of these visuals provoked a really emotional feeling out of me. There's a lot of irony in the pieces. Raw truths. A lot to self reflect on, some encouragement of hope - maybe. I felt this exhibit didn't sell out to just cater towards an Instagram crowd (but did perhaps rip the artist off). In true Banksy irony, even if it did go viral like some of the less stellar exhibits I've been to: great - not for the ticket sales (which I'm unclear associated with the artist), for the thought provoking meanings in and behind the work challenging society to do better. Raise the bar. This exhibit is a good introduction to Banksy's work, however, after some post visit research I'm unclear if its officially condoned by the artist. There is some limited parking on the street of the exhibit, but valet for $20 and $30. The $30 price is to have your car parked on site. For $20 the car goes somewhere else and you need to wait to get your car. The venue is very open and breezy which is good during CoVid. The exhibit is sectioned off into topics and are spaced out well to not feel crowded. Our tickets were for 11am, we arrive a little early and were admitted. Closer to noon the exhibit became more active. I'd say allow 1:45 minutes to view the exhibit without rushing. The QR codes enable you to get deeper into each piece's explanation. Clearly Banksy has a message about political and current events. He is an insightful artist and this exhibition is thoughtful and worthwhile viewing.

The exhibit is beautifully curated and full of life, it truly immerses you in her journey and fills you with the energy of her achievements. It's inspiring to see Celia throughout all her phases, uplifting your spirit and reminding you of the incredible, adventurous experiences life can bring. I really appreciate when institutions pay homage to true Latin icons with all the glory that a symbol of Latin music and culture deserves. Even though the exhibit is small, it's a joyful little capsule of azúcar that reminds you that life is a carnival of happiness. La Reina Celia will always live on through us, every time we dance to her rhythms and step into her world. Just wish it would be a little bigger as the ticket might be a little bit expensive for the exhibitions space and offer (my only reason I don't that the final star it deserves). He brought us over to the Fashion Night party at the CIFO that was sponsored by Barcardi. Let's party! The Warehouse space is nice for any event. The drinks and food were complimentary and very good. I ordered Vodka Madras, like it was fashionable. The shots of Caprese Salad, Pasta, Risoto, Polenta and Tiramisu were a perfect little meal in tiny portions. We had a lot of fun wandering around the galleries, not taking pictures. I loved checking out the art/design books in the library. I'm a design nerd sometimes. Fun event and just the first party of our first night out in South Beach. Thank you to Sergio F.! Keep partying it up Miami style.
