Fedrick for Hair is a very good salon. It has a bit of a retro feel, but that's probably because Fedrick has been styling hair from way back then. I have long wavy hair and I went to Fedrick to cut my hair shorter. And I was pretty nervous too because I haven't cut my hair in so long. And the last time I went to a salon I didn't like my hair at all. But as I went there to get my hair cut he was still occupied with cutting another's customer hair, which I think was a regular, he still greeted my sister and I. He has a very amible personality that makes you just smile. Before he started he gave us a consultation, which is where you tell him what you want (also tell him what you don't want because no matter who much experience a stylist have it's still your hair and only you know who you hair is like and what you want to do with it. So bring ideas with you) and he'll give you advice conscerning what you want and how it would effect you face structure. But everything was good, he has his own organic natural products(which is very good) and he told me what he was going to do with my hair because I came in clueless with nothing but I want my hair short. So he told stories about himself ask my sister and I question. He's very engaging so that's cool. After everything was done, I felt that the hair cut didn't look right on me, but that's because I ddin't tell him what I want and what I didn't. and what i hate was volume. But i told hime that i like everything and i was fine with it. (don't do this if you don't like it tell him and he'll fix it for you. He is very nice. I was just stupid so I didn't say anything) Well after a day or two of hating my hair, it actually grew on me though my cut does look a little to retro and oldy it frames my circle shape face pretty well. (If you want a modern hair cut tell Fedrick and or show him a picture and he'll be welcome to do it). Fredrick is an absolute genius! I moved to San Diego in 2005 but luckily I have family in Modesto so as soon as I have a flight booked to visit them I call and schedule an appointment with Fredrick. After a haircut here I not only feel like a goddess but get compliments on my hair from strangers on the street. I've even had the awkward moment of people reaching out and touching my hair because it looked so soft and healthy after a trim. He's got to be good if people throw out all social conventions to get at your hair, right? It seems long straight hair like mine would be easy to cut but I've discovered that it shows errors easily when a less talented stylist works on my tresses. I've paid a lot more in Southern California for a far inferior cut, only to have to come to Fredrick 6 months later to try to fix the mistakes from my fancy salon cuts. Fredrick is the most friendly, warm and kind person and I always leave feeling like he cares and remembers me and what was going on in my life since my last visit. I have been going to Frederick for 21 years....since I was 21 years old. My husband and our 3 teenage kids go to him as well. He is not just the best, he is a master with hair. He always considers the individual hair type you have and facial structure in order to find the cut that will compliment you the most. His hair products are THE BEST EVER! Wow is he amazing. He started me off with a detailed consultation and then he worked his magic. He is so knowledgable in this field. All his products are organic and chemical free. I mean his lightnening system does not use bleach. Can it get any better than this? I have never been so happy with my haircut ever in my life. He is so underrated for his talent. When I came to Modesto, I searched for someone to cut my hair. Price was no object. I know my hair requires a lot of skill and not everyone can do it. I went to the most expensive and best places in town, all were terrible, until I found Fredrick. I have been going there for 15+ years now and am always happy.
