Until days later I see I receive an email saying my appointment got canceled! I didn't receive a call or even a text as to why my appointment got cancelled or even if I'd like to reschedule! It's not like I check my emails as often as I'd check a text message. So what if I didn't see the cancellation in time? Clearly they don't care about gaining new clientele for whatever reason. Only after I introduced myself ("Filomena, it's Carla from Chile") did your attitude change. Because my English is limited and your Spanish isn't good either, I made sure to write down and translate exactly what I wanted to say so I could explain it politely: "Hi Mena, I called you but you didn't answer. Since I left work early, I came because I had the time. It's not a big deal, I just don't like my haircut because it's flat and I want layers." At first, even though you only wanted to give me a lesson on how to style my hair, I said yes, I wanted your help. But when you started giving opinions about my face shape and telling me you had already done "many" layers, as if to say I didn't need more, that's when I decided to tell you no -- because it's not up to you to decide whether I like my own hair or not. I paid you over $500. And honestly, if after 30+ years in this business you still haven't figured out how to treat your clients with respect, maybe you should ask for a refund on that "experience" -- because clearly three decades haven't been enough for you to learn. However, that recovery is solely due to my own strict, dedicated hair care regimen. ​To repair the damage, I had to implement a rigorous routine using fresh aloe spritz with rosemary and peppermint essential oils, drinking fresh fenugreek water, incorporating Caribbean foods, fruits, and spices into my diet, and regularly using my homemade Ayurvedic warm herbal oils on my scalp. I also had to treat folliculitis resulting from the appointment using a diluted basil and oregano essential oil mixture. ​Thankfully, my personal routine kept any long-term damage at bay and my hair is finally thriving again--but no thanks to Jasmine. The business owner didn't use her Active Listening Skills in the conversation when I asked if the wig prescription was accepted and I repeatedly told her that my coworker had the accurate prescription. She proceeded to ask me if I was a friend or the insurance company. Effective communication skills is Not something everyone has and I get that phone calls can be a whole barrier. However, the business owner can def do better especially given the situation and be Anything less than condescending. I will probably see if my coworker will consider another place. This was def a disjointed call. Clarity for others who may need this info: -They offer full receipts for reimbursement from your insurance company if your insurance offers the coverage (call your insurance to ask). -Wigs may cost between $60-200 depending on what you choose, based on your desires. -They do not offer wig trimming for products not purchased through them. - The owner emphasized having the accurate labeling of a Prosthesis Wig Prescription to get reimbursed by your insurance company and she gave an example that medi-caid doesn't cover it. A copy is not necessary for her as she charges the cost up front to the client.
