Yelp won't let me reply so let me add to what I felt was a fair review. When quoted at $2000 I said, "That seems high the whole fence was $10k" Shoddy then proceeded to explain how it was going to take 2 guys 2 days to dismantle the fence, and core drill. I got the sense it would be a complex project outside of something I could do myself. I'm not a contractor and he seemed to be an affable fellow. I'm not sure how 30ft of fence work has turned into 60ft of fence work while still being 30ft. When they began dismantling the fence one of the guys began banging on it with a rubber mallet, the piece eventually split on the side and came out. Shoddy told the guy to cut the broken piece off. Remember this because this becomes important later. After 2 hours he called me out to inspect the job. That was when I felt the first sting that his estimation of the job's complexity was overblown. The rail broken earlier with the rubber mallet was placed on the bottom of the fence, both broken sides clearly visible. I said that the piece on the bottom didn't look good. They spent the next 15 minutes trying to move the piece back and forth to hide the broken ends. Shoddy explained the fence wouldn't come down because it was sandwiched in place. I said,"Yeah but it looks like crap." Eventually, he said they would come back the next day, but he was worried that he wouldn't be able to find the correct piece. I told him not to worry that I had bought it and had it installed by Lowes and my job was on file with a lifetime warranty and any materials on the fence would be listed, I knew because I had checked the materials a few days before I decided I shouldn't do the job myself. They came back the next day and finished the job. When Shoddy came by to collect payment I told him that I felt like he soaked me on the estimate. I told him I calculated 32 man hours at $20 per hour plus materials I felt reasonable with the cost. I didn't ask for a discount, I expressed my displeasure at being quoted a 2-day job that took 2 hours. He then told me that he had to "drive 40 minutes" to get the fence piece and that it "was a pain in the ass." I said, "Yeah that's not my fault, your guy broke that when he was banging on it with a rubber mallet" As I said he would take $100 off to which I said "Don't do me any favors." Some strange behavior for someone who wanted a discount... He made "4 trips to ensure quality" and the fence still needed to be disassembled after the job was "complete" to remove and replace the broken rail? Strange quality control procedures. The old fence stumps were ground down and left the worksite cleaner than when they arrived, at no additional charge.... I didn't realize removing the remnants of the fence would be extra, was that an unforeseen detail? A Picture is attached shows how the work site was left. Approx 12-15 bricks were removed to make way for the straightened fence, "hauled away" seems like a strong description. Quickset was used to halfheartedly cover the deep gouges in the concrete. As I said before, the work was done satisfactorily but only because I said the piece they broke needed to be replaced. I take responsibility for agreeing to a contract based on trusting the contractor's estimate. Ultimately, I feel like he saw a quick job where he could make quick money. The lesson I took away is Live and learn. read more

The price was excellent - having done the research, I feel we got a custom fence for a standard price. Communication with Shadi was easy - he was responsive to our questions and comments. The materials are high quality - built to last! The prep and install were performed over a 2 day period as expected, and the workmanship was equally high quality. We included a hummingbird inset in our gate, and love it! We see our fence line daily, especially at sunset, and we are so pleased. In response to some of the reviews here - fencing is not cheap, so get estimates! It will give you peace of mind to use Fred's Fencing, after you see the dismissive nature of other estimators, who seem like they really don't listen, and don't follow up. I used Fred's fencing recently and got a bad taste in my mouth due to the bad customer treatment I got from them especially from one of the sub operators called Shady. When I needed to change the code on the gate they installed and after many calls he gave me a quote for $100 just to change the numbers, Then when I called him about when he can come to do it, he raised it to $200. This is an outrageous attitude and calls for no repeat. It is not only bad customer service it gives me the feeling that I am not worthy of their time. read more

Had to have a fence moved. I had to be kind of a stickler, they used a piece fencing that was cracked and way too short. Justification was that it wasn't going to move. I said yeah but it looks like crap. They had to move a 30ft section of fever so 95% of the material was already there, but the contractor said it would take 2 days so the price seemed reasonable​. When it only took 2 hours I asked for a cut on the price, Shoddy told me he would give me $100 off. So essentially $1000 an hour. ​I told him not to do me any favors. ​He had told me he doesn't like when people gouge homeowners on fencing, ironically it was as he was gouging me on the estimated job​. We had to call several other fence companies before we found Fred's Fencing to repair/replace our fence. The first four companies we contacted to request an estimate never returned our calls. The fifth company sent a representative over to take measurements, but we never heard from them again. We eventually contacted Fred's Fencing. They came and measured and provided an estimate. We gave them a 50% deposit for purchase of the required fencing materials (I don't know if a 50% deposit is standard in the industry to be honest, so that was definitely a leap of faith). They purchased all needed materials and came over to do the fence as soon as we finished clearing the bushes and foliage on either side so they had proper access. They replaced the entire border between our house and the neighbor, then welded and repaired another section. It worked out for us and they did a great job! We just really wanted to leave a good review because they were the ONLY fencing company who seemed to want our business! read more

My in laws who are in their 90's signed with this shady or should I say shoddy outfit about a month ago, put down $1200 up front and haven't seen or heard from them since. $2400 total for about 26 lineal feet of fence. That's $100 for every 14 inches of fence! REALLY?? They tried to charge them an extra $600 for screws instead of nails. I used to do contracting and I know how crooks operate. The quality of the materials was good, but they built the gate across my driveway using a wall to anchor one of the posts that is unable to bear the weight of the gate. As a result, the gate has sagged to the point that I have to physically lift it to get the bolt to line up and be able to lock it. It's a real pain to have to put whatever you're carrying down on the ground to lift the gate and lock it. A couple of years ago, I paid them $150 to come out and fix the sagging problem. The fix lasted approximately 6-9 months, and now I'm right back where I started. My complaint is that they assumed the wall would hold the weight, when in fact it was already leaning a bit at the time of the installation. I made the mistake of assuming that they had taken that into account and calculated that the wall would hold the gate up, but obviously I was wrong. read more

These people were excellent! We needed a wall next to our RV parking spot to be cut back by 4 feet, to make it wider. This entailed cutting off the wall and also building and installing a new sliding gate. They came out to see what we needed, we agreed on exactly how the work would be done, they came back out the first day to do the work and the second day to finish up. All done quickly and efficiently. They even came back out when we were not home to finish up with a little touchup painting, to make it all look nice! I would definitely hire them again. read more
