I have had many compliments on the fence itself by neighbors. Overall it wasn't what I pictured but the most part is they left trash and stuff behind. Will was kind enough to make the crew come back and clean up again. Not everything was cleaned up. They were suppose to remove the chain link fence and they did by cutting the post. Unfortunately left some post still sticking out of the ground and with kids and pets playing in the front yard definitely a hazard. Fence looks good people say they just don't see the mess and hazard on the inside. Oh and make sure you read the contract, my bad on that one. I just got my 6ft. Cedar fence(53 linear feet) installed in record time! The crew(Andres & Re---; I suck at remembering names) showed up before 8:00 am, as promised got to work, and finished in record time; by noon(12:00pm)!! The crew was very nice, respectful, and receptive to my needs. They were careful so as not to get debris in my pool, which is within a couple feet of the fence. Some of these fence "companies" -- unlicensed/ not insured -- are little more than two guys with a pick-up truck and a cell phone. BALBOA FENCE, by contrast, is a bonafide licensed, insured company with a physical address; "hands-on" owners; office staff; long-time, professional installers; top-notch equipment; new "branded" purpose-built heavy-duty trucks, etc. Andre and Renden, our two BALBOA FENCE installers, did a phenomenal job demo-ing and installing two lengths of property-line fencing and four gates. Of particular note, the new fence has (unseen) strong metal "scaffolding" - vertical upright posts (embedded in concrete) and upper and lower horizontal "beams." The fasteners -- power-driven screws/pneumatic-driven heavy-duty "staples" -- afford the new fence an extremely "clean," top-quality appearance. The superbly built gates open and close effortlessly much like the passenger doors on an expensive luxury automobile. The entire job was completed in four-days. Will was the most knowledgeable and straightforward of all the folks I spoke to, he had a good balance of supporting my needs and ideas and contributing his professional expertise to create the best solution. I coordinated the project with 3 of my neighbors and Will provided estimates for 2 different materials and broke out costs for each of the 4 households. They made a small mistake early on in our new fence that went unnoticed, we noticed but weren't sure it was worth saying anything... But to own it, and call yourself out and spend a day redoing the work when nothing was even said by us or the neighbors, that's impressive. Very disappointed with Brett. Called to make an appointment for free estimate for fencing which was 3 weeks in since they were busy. Few days before, I re-confirmed my scheduled appointment. Initially, Brett seemed to be accomodating. He called the day of his appointment and texted that he was on his way. We met, told him what we wanted, he made measurements, and he said he would email the estimates. But, we never did. I waited for a week thinking he was busy. A week after, I called to check on the estimates he was supposed to email me. I left a message and never got a call back nor reply. I called the following day again. And still nothing. So, I decided not to pursue business with Brett of Balboa Fence Company. It shows the unprofessionalism of this person that would reflect on this company. After researching fence companies, meeting with them, and getting quotes, we decided to have Balboa Fence Company install a brand new fence on the property we had just purchased. We have kids and had just gotten a puppy so we wanted to make sure all were safe. The existing fence we had could have definitely lasted more years, but had gaps and openings that we didn't think were safe for the puppy. We had even told them this was one of our main concerns. We also wanted privacy so we went for the 6ft vinyl fencing. I was super busy the day they were finishing up so I didn't get to do a good walk they, but they ensured me they would be back the following week to do an official walk thru and pick up their equipment. Well their left over equipment of large metal pieces wood and all kinds of other stuff sat in my side yard for months. The fence shifted in one area (which they did fix after I contacted them. Within days of having the fence installed, our new puppy escaped because they left gaps everywhere at the bottom of the fence and a large gap on the the side that touches the house. The woodchips from our area around the fence now slip through into the neighbors yard because our fence doesn't touch the ground and we are elevated above them. I contacted the company about all these issues and they assured me they would make it right. They said if I would have wanted to have those gals filled it would have been a couple hundred extra. Ok? I was spending THOUSANDS of dollars to get a new fence another $200 or $300 to have it done properly wouldn't have been a big deal, and you would have thought I would have at least been given the option. A few weeks later some guys from the crew came to the house. They made up some lame excuse for the six of the fence that had slipped. They got their equipment. I told them I wanted the gaps fixed, and the guy was kinda jerky and with a smirk on his face was like that will be an extra charge. I explained how I understood that and wanted it done right. He said my husband could probably just do it for me. To which I said if I wanted him to do the fence I wouldn't have ever sought out a company for hire. He kept trying to get me to sign a paper about me playing a final walk through. I insisted I wanted a quote on finishing a proper job. He told me multiple times "yes! We can't give that to you until we get back to the stock yard and speak with our manager, but we will give that to you." After him assuring me of this multiple times and against my better judgement, I signed the walkthrough papers. No one ever contacted me. I called the company and no one responded. Very very upsetting they would treat a customer like this, not properly do a job, and just leave all that stuff in my yard for months like it was no big deal. Literally the old fence was better as far as keeping the pup in. At least this one is pretty sturdy for our kids and it is easy to clean. However, when we are talking over a $6,000 job, maybe keep looking. read more
