Would give zero stars if I could. Just received my car back from these thugs who refused to release my emergency parking brake upon towing. Resulting in traction control light turning on, and now my steering completely off center and leaning immensely to the right to the point where my once safe car now feels like a death trap. Knowing I am disabled with stage 4 cancer with disabled parking tags, I really would've appreciated some grace. They didn't even allow me to get out my medication's nor my ID making it even harder. read more

Avoid at all costs. My kid hit a parked car and had to have it towed. They charged $650 to retrieve it (mind you, this wasn't a criminal impound or anything. It was just a 7 mile pickup from central Davenport). They're the "official" contracted towing company of the Davenport Police - Makes me wonder if something shady is going on. read more

Fred's Towing Service came to our rescue during the snow blizzard in Walcott, Iowa ... January 12 through the January 14th. Nevin our Tow Truck Driver was so kind and understanding to my husband and I. He definitely put in some time and work in order to extract our Sprinter Van. He spent 2 hours removing the frozen ice from our vehicle using only a small shovel. Raechyl was the Dispatch Manager. She was very communicative with me through the entire process. She even gave me her personal cell phone number. We would have never made it out of Iowa without the assistance of Fred's Towing Service. Even with all of the calls, they were receiving from 100's of customers stuck in the snow. They made sure they treated each customer as if they were their only customer...with patience and kindness. Nov 11th 2023 at 10:19pm I hit a large buck on I-80 East ( west of Iowa largest truck stop ) luckily I was not injured but Deputy Kobe Ahrens responded quickly and called for and Ambulance and a tow truck. The paramedics came and checked me out and left and then Josh from Fred's towing came to me also and asked me how I was doing before he towed my car. Fast forward to Thursday the 16th I drove the rental car from my home in Illinois back to Wolcott, Iowa to retrieve my belongings from my totaled car Scott, Jerry and the girls in the office went out of there way to assist me with this endeavor. So thank you to all in Iowa for making my terrible accident much easier to deal with. The people of Iowa have every reason to be proud of there FIRST RESPONDERS. Great job to all. Disgusted and angry. Vehicle was towed from Moline to Fred's lot in Davenport. Total price gouging price was $480. Price gouging to the max. Vehicle was there for a matter of hours. Charges: Impound/storage fee $42, Administration fee (?) $40.80, Flatbed fee $68.34, transport to Davenport $285, credit card fee $14......plus $30.53 taxes.... Surprised they didn't add another category... PRICE GOUGING FEE.... Horrible experience..shameful. No wonder their rating is 2.5. I would never recommend this business. read more

They charged me $387 to tow my car 6 miles and hold it for 15 minutes. That should be illegal. One guy who worked there was kind of nice and the other was a jerk. read more

Horrible experience with this towing company. They confiscated my son's belongings that were in his vehicle after he totaled his car. Even his medical device. After trying several times to retrieve the items, they kept raising their prices on how much we would have to pay them just to get his belongings out. They have the vehicle. I never leave a review but I was so happy with my experience. I'm from out state and my car would not turn on, had to call Fred's and the lady on the phone was superrrr helpful. She asked what was wrong with my car and told me to try a few things before resorting to getting towed. My car ended up turning on so no tow was needed but the customer service was amazing. Even if I did need a tow or jumpstart, totally doable prices, my dealership was going to charge me more for the tow. read more

My brother-in-law had a medical emergency while driving his truck. Police were called and police then called Fred's. The truck was fully operational, was one block from home, and in fact was right next to the bank building where my nephew works! Fred's towed the vehicle downtown. Total fees for towing, city fees, impound for 17 hours and "cleanup" was $585. My brother-in-law passed away. His widow (my sister) had to pay these fees. This is usury at its worst! Police department wouldn't help out, and Fred's showed no compassion. read more

This tow company lost the key to my car after I paid them $360 for the tow and impound. This forced me to take a greyhound bus nine hours to get to work the next day and they've spent over a week vacillating about how to address the issue. They still have my car in their yard. Absolutely ridiculous. They are apparently forcing me to take legal action to force them to re-key my car. It's an expensive key to replace. I have documents from Highway Patrol stating the key is "With tow operator" Do not trust this company. read more

This is by far the worst towing service you could ever use. This company charges an obscene amount for services such as charging 500 dollars to move a motorcycle three miles. Not to mention each one of their employees are an absolute nightmare to deal with. This company should be shut down for all the stuff they do to our community. Please help our community in shutting this business down. They have taken advantage of myself, my family, my friends, and a ton of other people that I have spoken to. Towing companies are supposed to be in the customer service industry. You call a towing service on some of your worst possible days, and all this company does is make this 10x worse. They have gotten a little less rude on the phone, but as soon as you question their ridiculous policies and procedures and try to ask for an explanation, you get well that's how it is. If it is not their way it is absolutely the highway. No one and I mean no one deserves that kind of treatment in a business. Completely the most unprofessional business that I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. This place made all the difference in what was an eventful trip out of town. I suffered a blown out tire and needed help. I had no spare tire and needed a tow late at night. Christine at the switch board took my call and immediately jumped to action and was determined to help me out. I not only needed a two but needed a tire. She put me on hold and called around to find a place that had a matching tire on a Saturday night that would open up and put a new tire on my wheel. I would have spent the weekend 2 1/2 hours from home over the weekend if it wasn't for what she did. Joe showed up to give me a tow, loaded my car and got me across the river into Illinois to get the tire and stayed with me until the owner showed up. Great service. Was the third tow company we called, but the only one that actually helped us and took it upon themselves to make a positive difference and help me out of that mess. Thank you! Car stalled in Davenport. Due to a tow ban I had to call the police. Officer arrived and he called Fred's. Towed car to service station ten minutes away and charged me 250 bucks. The driver said it was because the police had to call them and they have to get their cut. read more

I'm never calling Fred again! Me and a friend broke down and decided to call Fred because they were the closest towing service. We called them at 9 pm. The first Fred's employee shows up around 10:30 PM with his girlfriend in the truck. He tells us he can't help us because there's no room for me and my friend in his truck. Come to find out, Fred's employees are not allowed to have friends/family with them in their truck. So, he literally drives off and leaves us. We then have to wait for another Fred's employee who supposedly will have room for us. By the time we were getting help and towed was 11:30 PM. Me and my friend both had to call Fred's several times for updates and status of getting help. There was no sense of urgency to help us and communication was very unacceptable. I am very disappointed in this long time Quad City business. read more

Car dead? Never call Fred. Told us to meet them in 1/2 an hour, waited 90 minutes without hearing from them. When we called to check the dispatcher simply said they were really busy and running behind. That's fine..I understand being busy and running behind just check in with me. 20 minutes later we get a call from the dispatcher because the truck driver told her to call is and warn us he had to drive slowly. 2.5 hrs later the car has finally been dropped off and they didn't even consider offering a discount for their lack of communication and awful customer service. read more

I'm usually a huge supporter of small local businesses, but this is by far the WORST business experience I've ever had in my life. My car was held there for ONE DAY, they charged me $335. The driver of the truck had added every charge he could think of to my bill. Some of which included a $43 flatbed fee (I have a small car and a flatbed is not necessary) and also a "cleanup" fee of $35 when my car had no damage and was NOT involved in an accident. When I called to ask for more of an explanation on some of these charges the lady at the desk began starting getting very irritated with me and couldn't think of an explanation, "Well that's what the driver put down so that's what it is." towards the end of the call she then began YELLING and CURSING at me. Very professional right? When I picked up my car the next day, I found GREASE and MUD all over my steering wheel, door, and I saw greasy fingerprints by the latch of my glove box and center console as if they were searching through my car. I also had a flask which was full when my car was towed and when I picked it up was empty. These people have NO RESPECT for anyone or anybody's property. Over the course of the next two weeks I called every 2-3 days asking if I could get the driver that wrote up my bill to give me a call whenever he got the chance so he could explain why he put some of the charges he had put. NEVER ONCE did I ever get a call back and NEVER ONCE did I ever get an explanation for why I had all of these extra unnecessary charges. read more

They are prob the worst place I know. I called to ask if they had my car and they kept telling me no I called 2 times my Friend called a few times too. All of a sudden after a month they had it after a officer called and wanted to charge me 950. I told one employee about the problem Friday and told me to call back Monday when the boss was in and I wasn't going to be charged for the two days. I called and Jessica office manager told me I was wasting her time call only if I had the money she wasn't going to help me at all, she wanted me to pay 1020 for the two extra days too . I went up there and she was like why is that b here if I couldn't hear her she said I told her to call me when she had the money and stop wasting my time. They are so rude don't care about customers. They are corrupt the Davenport police work with them so they think they can do as they please. Since they have their back. I heard so many people say they take off parts of the car and heard about a case like mine when they told them they didn't have a car. They only searched one phone call conversation and not the rest when they told me they did not have it because "I was wasting there time" and either pay or leave. Ended up paying 957 since the call showed the employee telling me I wasn't getting charged. If u need towing call Hubees or johns towing they are the bEst in Davenport. And cheaper. read more
