Needed a tow after 3am when our cargo van that was towing a 28ft. storage trailer weighing over 5,000lbs. had a blowout up on Trout Creek Rd. The first company we called wanted $2300! And it was going on be 2 hours before they could get there. Fortunately we did a search for someone local and found Fred's. Way less $$$, reasonable and got there in about 20 minutes! My family member had to pull their vehicle off the road on a back road. They towed it less than 24 hours later and extorted $600 from them.

I do not recommend doing business with this company. As for a rating, I wish I could give them zero stars. They do towing and also dirt hauling, and their service is as slow as a snail's pace. Their trucks also left a trail of motor oil on my property - proving their trucks have hazardous oil leaks. In addition, their drivers are extremely unprofessional, rude, and obnoxious. Though they are a tad expensive, BUT we've used them several times recently. First tow was about 11 miles for $256 (self pay because Verizon roadside was attempting to dispatch providers from Colorado Springs and gave me an ETA 3 different times that changed 10 minutes before they were to arrive and reset time to 1 hour 45 minutes each time). Called Fred's since I saw them drive by me. They came in 15 minutes! Expensive but great service! The next (#2) service was to tow me 5.5 miles and it only cost me $175. Tonight, on Veterans day (11-11-23) my daughter was stuck on a steep ice covered road near woodland park at 12:05 AM. Statefarm {Agero roadside} couldn't find anyone to provide service for her but recommended she wait until morning and call back at that time. NOT AN OPTION! She has her service dog with her and Teller County S.O. recommended calling Fred's and hopefully work with her on price. (#3) Fred lowered the price by a whole $25. But at least State Farm will reimburse us the total cost for the night. John showed up to help her out @2:40 Took 15 minutes to take pictures, paperwork and begin tow. They attached tow rope and pulled her up the road and on her way! He made sure she made it back to HW24. Thank you Fred's for your help, just wish you didn't over price your services. I operated several locksmith service providers for over 35 years, and yes we provided 24/7 roadside services: JS, FD, TC & Lockouts, Key makes and so forth and never overcharged our customers because of the power of the internet. I have to wonder why you don't accept roadside service clubs, that is a lot of missed funds! Technically, you could end up making MORE $ by lowering your prices and increasing your call volume, just look at the Walmart business model as a good example. read more

These people are trying to rob me. They told me I could pick my car up in lake George and didn't tell me cascade after I drove all the way out to lake George and then they told me the next day I could pick my car up at 5 and then changed it to 3pm. They intentionally were making it difficult to get my car back out and I intend on using them. Very bad and crooked people. read more

The New owner is the most rude & The most crock person in the woodlands park area this shouldn't be in a towing business he should be in jail . This towing company tow my truck of the side & never call us or reported to the police department or the city for 4 months, after looking for the truck we finally found the truck parked on Highway 24 front of a motorcycle shop and the owner refused to return the truck , after pleasing with him for couple hrs for vehicle with a value of $ 6000 . He ask us to pay $21.000 before he releases the truck to us . We are definitely reporting him the department of transport or filling a lawsuit . read more

Mad at AAA for contracting with Fred's then but even angrier that Fred's doesn't replace batteries when they FINALLY responded about THREE HOURS after request. Nicest and most helpful people ever! We needed help with a tow for our nonprofit and Fred's came to the rescue. Donna answered our call right away and was amazing. She returned calls and texts immediately and was always polite and helpful. They donated the tow to our little nonprofit which was amazing (thank you Donna and Mike and everyone!) We are super small with no paid employees and very little funding... The driver was prompt and super friendly. He even stuck around a little after the delivery to help us make sure it was perfect. These guys are amazing. We had a blowout on Hwy 24 (our truck towing a popup trailer, truck bed loaded with camping stuff, bikes etc.) and realized that the locking lug nut adapter fpr our tire was not in the glove box where it needed to be - UGH! We called Ford Roadside Assistance and had the most frustrating assistance ever - waiting two hours - talking to multiple operators and no one showed up! Called Fred's and within 20 minutes they arrived! AJ our driver was absolutely fantastic, got us home safe and sound. I would highly recommend Fred's if you are stranded! read more

I was quoted $160 for a 1 hr minimum charge to come lift a uhaul van over a hump as I got stuck by bottoming out on the driveway. The location was 10 mins from Fred's towing and he was there for 20 minutes. He said the receptionist made a mistake with that quote and tried charging me $450. Again, total time from his shop, pickup the truck and move it 3 ft, then drive back to his shop was 40 minutes. He eventually lowered the cost to $300, but still a pretty poor way to treat customers and do business. Our truck became disabled during a camping trip in Lake George, Colorado. We called Fred's Towing on a holiday and the tow truck operator (Brian) was at our location within an hour. He towed our truck and camping trailer in tandem to our home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, about an hour away. The entire staff (dispatch/Mike, accounting/Donna, tow truck operator/Brian) were extremely professional, courteous, compassionate, and understanding of our situation and got us home safely. For Christmas this year, I wanted to take my wife to cut her first Christmas tree ever. Wanted to make it memorable, and boy will she never forget this one, I guarantee it. Went down to Woodland Park to "cut" our tree. Took Rampart Range Rd, route 300 way, way, way down to find the perfect tree on a cold December 07, 2019. We were doing all the right things, stay on the main route, went early, had water, four wheel drive truck, had cold weather clothes. After hours of walking and looking around for the one tree, nothing. I was getting late and we were giving up, this year there was not going to be a tree cutting celebration for my wife. Went down route 300c for one last look, and nothing, went down a little hill to turn around and this guy with a Jeep refused to get his Jeep out of the way, told me to keep going down this little path. He said the path would keep going and it would loop around, he said that another Jeep and trailer had gone down the same path. To avoid any drama I went down the path with no way of turning around even if I wanted to, which I really, really, did want to. About a quarter mile, I see the guy in the Jeep and trailer. As soon as this person sees me, he said "don't, you might want to turn around, am stuck" and so was I by that time. My wife wanted to kill me, I wanted to kill the asshole that told me to go down that path. Our first time there, first time cutting our tree, and no cell phone reception. My wife started to count the hours before we where on the next episode of Deadline, Kieth Morrison saying "four frozen bodies found in the woods". The Jeep guy was able to winch himself out, but there was no saving my truck, too deep in the snow. Four wheel drive in low couldn't move my truck an inch. They were kind enough to give my wife and I a ride back home, leaving my truck behind for the night. The next day at 6am Sunday morning, I called Fred's Towing. Zach answered the phone, after explaining the situation, he said, no worries, we can get you out without a problem. He was super polite and very professional. I met Zach at the shop where Micheal was assigned the task of getting me out of my terrible situation. When Michael and I got to this spot, he assessed everything, he said in a very "cool,calm, and collective" voice "I got this" him and "princes" (the recovery vehicle) went to work. First 30 minutes, I was confident, 1st hour I was scared and had gave up hope, I started to think my truck would stay there until April of 2020. Michael would continued to assure me that leaving without my vehicle was not an option. He educated me on the art of snow driving, winch, and snow chains. Finally after 2 hours, Michael did the impossible, he never gave up, he never stopped to take a break, to have lunch, I don't think I even saw him take a drink of water. He was respectful at all times, never made me feel like that guy, even though I was totally that guy stuck deep in the woods on a remote location. To say the Michael went above and beyond is an understatement. There are those that give it their best shot and give up, however, there are those that refuse to give up and never accept half ass jobs as their best. Fred's Towing, Michael, Zach thank you for what you do, for helping people like me, who never thought that being stuck in the woods, in the middle of December would never happen to them. Then it did. The pricing was straight forward, no hidden fees, no extras, no bait and switch. Thank goodness I didn't need a helicopter recovery to come get me... A million thanks guys! read more

If i could rate zero stars i would. The Teller county Sheriff's office and this terrible place are in cahoots to scam people. On may 11 there was a snow storm that i ended up getting a flat tire in. After waiting for hours for a towing service we had to leave our car behind because we got picked up. The car was ensured by a Teller County Sheriff's deputy that it was on the side of the road out of the way of traffic. The next day we found out the the car was towed by this scam service without us being informed or being premised. After driving an hour to pay for the towing service. The insurance company State Farm payed for towing services back to Colorado Springs. We headed to the location that we specifically told them to drop off at, and waited for about four hours. After waiting we received a call from the company that it was dropped off at the wrong location, the the woman who we had talked to throughout the whole problem was extremely rude and kept hanging up the phone as we were trying to locate our car. They would not tell us where the car is. As of over four hours the car has not been delivered and the customer service is not even existent. THIS COMPANY SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN AND HAS BEEN DOING ILLEGAL TOWING!!! read more

My son was stranded on Christmas night in a snowstorm and our insurance company gave us Fred's Towing as the service provider to take care of the automotive emergency my son had. When he got through to Fred's Towing, he was cursed and after being asked "Don't you know it is Christmas!!?" was promptly hung up on!! Day 1- was given a 3 pm eta. They finally called me at 5:30 and said they'd be here in an hour. I had already missed my appointment with the shop so I cancelled the tow. Day 2 - They called and said they were on the way. I hadn't scheduled a tow. Day 3 - I had arranged for them to pick up my car at 8 am, I had meetings moved around and a baby sitter lined up so that I could get the car towed to the 9 am appointment at the shop. NO SHOW. AGAIN. Finally called them at 8:30,they said they'd call me right back. No call. I called again 20 min later, they had no one on the way and no record that they'd scheduled a tow for this morning. They tried to put the blame on AAA, but I hadn't been working through AAA, I had called them directly the day before to get this scheduled and FINALLY taken care of. The woman on the phone had the nerve to be rude with me as I explained the situation. I missed my appointment, took the morning off work and scheduled the baby sitter all for nothing... I heard all sorts of good things about these guys, but found none of them to be true. I called them a week in advance, told them we have a very heavy 5th wheel, sent the CAT certificate with the weights on it, photos of our hitch with the rating and expressed over and over again that we were very heavy. They hadn't shown up by the agreed upon time. when I called to check, the rep said, "Remind me?" I again identified myself, and she said the driver got busy with other things and was supposed to call and let us know he would be delayed 1.5 hours. When the driver did show up, his hitch was underrated for our 5th wheel. He said that was the heaviest vehicle they had. So, now, we are completely buttoned up with no choice but to find another company that will listen and not over promise. We only have two days at most to get out, and they left us in a lurch on Saturday afternoon with a snow storm coming. If you have anything heavier than a passenger car to tow, find somebody else and remember that communication is NOT their strong suit. read more

Normally don't leave reviews but Very disappointed... Two months ago got stuck up at Rampart with Benz. On top of the tow charge thanks to the guy who towed it they broke my control to adjust my outside mirrors so now I am out of $300 for a control and $180 for the tow. Didn't even bother to complain about the damages or getting compensated because it looks like they may need it more then me from the way there office looked. I don't like pepole who don't own up to what they've done and I figured they didn't seem like the type to take responsibility for there errors cause some one should of made me aware that during the tow there was an accident and an apology for said accident. Despite all the bad reviews below, I think they were awesome! I got my car stuck up in the Crags (stupid me I know) and they got there as soon as they could. They couldn't get it out the first day so they didn't charge me. They drove me back to their shop where they were super kind and let me and my pup wait inside until the cab came. I love dog friendly people! They kept giving her treats and pets. They got it out the second day and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. They were awesome! They had a great response time (we needed their service twice and both times they were very prompt), reasonable prices, and we felt like we were in good hands. I am sure long-time residents of Northern El Paso County know Fred's Towing and Recovery, based in Woodland Park with an additional location in Monument. Their front office was a pleasure to work with in scheduling the transport of my newly painted 1989 Avanti convertible collector car today. The flatbed driver, "Hickory," was at Neu Kreations, the excellent body and paint shop that did the repaint of my Avanti, ahead of time and was incredibly careful in setting up the recovery, using blocks and planks to provide a perfect scrape-free ascent onto the flatbed. Same story at delivery. I considered their price for this time-consuming transport to be quite reasonable, pretty much what I had guess-timated it would be. I have used Fred's before and with this additional experience, I would not use anyone else in the future to recover a vehicle I really care about. Fred's towing has helped me out several times in the past 10 years. They helped me pull my motor home out of ditch during a thunderstorm and did an excellent job. They also recued me one night when my vehicle lost power and was stranded during a large snow storm outside of Woodland Park. They responded immediately and were friendly and courteous. Amazing staff and owners. Broke down in town, was waiting on AAA, Bradley, a driver for them stopped and asked if we needed help. We told him , no we were waiting for AAA. He gave me his card and told me if we needed help later, he would help us. An hour later a woman came over, Kelly, who worked for them, made a call and helped us deal with the motorcycles on board. They let us store our bikes there so we could get towed, AAA doesn't tow bikes. The owner gave me a ride back in his car and helped us with logistics. Then he worked on my truck and got it going, so we made it home. I offered money but he refused, I had to push it into his pocket. Wonderful people! I'd do business with them any day. read more

My group got 2 different cars stuck in the snow on the pass to the Crags and these guys not only got both cars unstuck, but they were over the top friendly and comforting and made the experience much less stressful. They went above and beyond in any way they could to help us and made fun conversation during the whole process to put us at ease. My car was stuck over in rampart range on a trail! Search and rescue had to get us and I thought my car was going to be stuck there. At 12am in the morning I called Fred's towing in woodland park and Janet was very helpful. She was able to get someone out for me the next morning. David was the one who helped me and he was very thoughtful and courteous of my vehicle. He mad sure when he pulled out my car that it was towed slowly and safely. Bradley arrived in less than 20 minutes w a flatbed and couldn't have been nicer and more professional. We were a group of three with a dog and he cheerfully accomodated us all. In Colorado Springs, Bradley went beyond the call of duty trying to help me get to a foreign auto shop that work on my car the next day instead of days out.
