I have tried to visit all the comic book stores in the area and by far the most friendly and the most knowledgeable is Nerdstalgia. My trek was to simply see in each store what was already graded and on the wall. I found a great book, Incredible Hulk 181 and was pleasantly surprised to see that it had a market value that was current . . . instead of an inflated value that was in no way close to fair market value. This made it easy to negotiate for such a key book within a couple of hundred dollars. As a result, I'm grateful for the work they do to make comic buying a great experience for all of us who love books. So far, after visiting all the stores from downtown KC to all the stores in Kansas, Nerdstalgia is, IMHO, the best shop in the Kansas City Metro.

I owned 3 card shops in the late 80's, and my son has recently gotten into collecting, so it was our first trip together, which explains why we were excited. First thing we see in the door is boxes. Opened boxes which looked like trash. As we walked in, junk to the left and random case things on the right. The rest of the shop was nothing but a mess, with random stuff throughout; no rhyme or reason for anything. I brought in $2k cash, my son $400. He had a new set in mind, which he saw on the shelf, and was waiting to purchase, and I was looking for old cards; Kaline, Mays, Clemente, etc. A younger kid offered to help, but quickly vanished. I looked through the glass cases for 35 minutes with no luck, because there wasn't much displayed, and it was hard to see with all the junk on the counter. Nothing is in any order, whether it be the cased individual cards, the unopened boxes, or the memorabilia. And believe it or not, after 35 minutes, not one person asked if there was anything they could show us. The owner, who was present, but paying all his attention to someone else, never even acknowledged our presence. Of course we walked out laughing about the fact that we never spent a dime, and I apologized to my son for the waste of time and suggested to him that we open up a card shop that had a little pride. I told him that this was not a typical card shop, and that the owner should be embarrassed. We got some lunch, then went back to the house to order our cards on line. Not one good thing about this place, unfortunately.

First of all, TableTop has an excellent selection of games and other related materials. I've never seen so many Settlers of Catan or Ticket to Ride expansions, but if you need them, they're available! They also just have so many games that I would have never seen before, so I always make sure to have a while to look around to find new things. Second--everyone who works there is SO GREAT and very, very knowledgeable. I can't tell you how much more exciting this makes the experience because they are willing to spend time and give options based on what you're looking for. During my last visit, I got to share some of the games I really liked, and we vowed to come back and share about our experiences next time! Love this place. I had my 8 year old son with me and E.J. went out of his way to talk to and share some of his projects with him. The shop is well stocked and E.J. seemed quite knowledgeable. They have plenty of seating to fit all of us, and they offer alot of high top tables as well for people playing Warhammer. Its always busy in here, they have pretty good pricing on snacks and drinks, and they always have the latest drops usually for new sets as well. The guys that work here are also super chill, we come in enough that they know us somewhat. Always super nice, and help out with anything we might need. If we are there super late, sometimes they lock us in on the table side of the store and just have us use the back door when we leave so it doesn't interrupt our game we are wrapping up. 10/10 one of our favorite card shops in KCMO to come and play at.
