The clerk piled some serious attitude right on me, while I was with my baby daughter no less, and kicked us out for having the audacity to ask about a top-forty album on vinyl. It's a nice shop, beautifully designed, but unfortunately the Omega-level rudeness and condescension means I'll no longer be buying either records or concert tickets from them. Luckily L'Oblique is only a brisk walk away.

The prices are a little unpredictable, some things seemed way overpriced to me, yet other more unique and rare things seemed undervalued. So: lots of fun to look through, and some very high quality recordings, old, new, re-issues, and unique new vinyl. I only checked out classical and jazz, my loves, but the other sections seemed chock full and varied. Glad that stores like this still exist.

The space keeps unfolding you as walk through, revealing nooks and back spaces with more and more records. The selection is also good and well-organized. You don't have to wade through a lot of junk to find what you're looking for. I know that some people like to do that (ie, crate digging)--for those, I think there's enough flipping to keep them satisfied. Service was as I like it for record stores, which is hands-off. The one employee was at the register the entire time. He was polite when we checked out, but didn't bother or interact with us otherwise. And finally, on a pricing basis, I would say they are average. There's some deals for sure, but the owner also knows the relative value of the records pretty well. Happy hunting.

Unfortunately, it was a bit of a let down. The liked the shop itself. Looked neat inside and out. The selection though was stuff you'd find anywhere. In my opinion there was a ton of filler and not nearly enough killer. Perhaps there's a huge country music crowd that shops here cause they've got a room with just that. Ehhh. They had lots of new vinyl, cassettes, and CDs too. I bought one record, but it took a bit of time finding something I was interested in. The used punk and metal section was very weak. There's definitely better shops in Montreal, but if you wanna see for yourself maybe it'll be more your kinda store than it was mine.

The selection there is quite ample, both in quantity and diversity of genres. And, the division/organization of their records was quite good. I am not a crate digger and have no patience for it. Sonorama pointed me in the right direction for the kinds of things I was looking for. In general, the pricing is reasonable/average, but there is a section in the back that is also posted on discogs and it is on the high-end. It's certainly good stock (I got a really nice and clean rocksteady comp from the early 70s), but it made me wonder how much everything else was down there (note: those records weren't labeled with prices.) Nonetheless, this is a must visit for those doing the vinyl circuit in Montreal.

There's lots of used and new vinyl to dig through. I did like that they were kept separate. A big plus in my book. I found lots of stuff here, some of which I have not come across in any shop before. However, I had a recent experience that put me off…read more I came to sell about 50 books that are in very good condition and quite popular, but most were turned down. Even when I said I wasn't necessarily looking to make money, just donate to a place I like, they told me that taking my books would "burden" them... Even though that's what this place is for, selling and buying used books! I went to a bookstore further up Mont-Royal who took them. I certainly understand that they couldn't take all of them depending on the value, but it was really their dismissive and quite rude attitude that took me off guard. Not sure I'll shop there again, unfortunately.

My review is really based on vinyl records as that's what lured me in. The shop is very clean and neatly organized. They had some nice new arrivals plus several bins of rock, jazz, classical, and whatever else in between. I found one record I wanted, but a few others I already had that I otherwise would have grabbed. Prices were pretty fair. They also carried CDs, but no cassettes. Of course they have lots of books and nice area to sit and relax. Cool spot worth checking out for a little browsing.

I found the selection to be pretty good despite the small size of the store and the prices were actually not that bad. I wound up purchasing a bunch of records, including a hard to find KISS LP from the 80s which I had never seen for sale before. Overall 5 stars. Loved this shop, wish there were more like it near me.

This is, without a doubt, my new favorite record store. For its size, the selection is solid,…read morediverse, and well organized. We were in Burlington last week, and decided to drive up to Montreal for a couple of days. I heard that End Mile was the "artsy" neighbo(u)rhood, so I assumed that the record stores would be a good opportunity to "ooh shop" (what my mom used to call stores where you could look, but not touch, because the items were out of our price range). Turns out their new records were reasonably priced (about $25-33 Canadian). The selection of used records wasn't vast, but it holds its own. And the hip hop section was surprisingly extensive (relatively speaking). It took me on a journey through childhood, featuring pre-Death Row Pac, Kool G Rap, RBL Posse, Tribe Called Quest, etc. And their selection of Nigerian, Turkish and French music was impressive (relatively speaking). And their classical section wasn't garbage (that's usually where most record stores are lacking). I love this place. To my dismay, I didn't have room in my luggage to take anything with me, so next time I'm in Montreal, I'll definitely be buying out the store. Au revoir.
