Before I started working with Heather, I thought of foods as "good" or "bad", and I felt a lot of guilt after eating a "bad" food. Now I no longer feel guilty after eating certain foods - my relationship with food has changed. I was able to lose ten pounds by following her intuitive eating plan, and my self-esteem has improved. The only thing I wish had been a bit better is I would have liked to have had more healthy recipes. Perhaps a database or website of them that she had put together. For the first time in my life I am out of the "all or nothing" cycle of intense dieting and overeating. I have been able to ditch the diet mentality and feel good about myself even with a few extra pounds. I liked the length of Heather's program - it forced me to continue to be accountable and work on the principles for long enough that they became a part of my routine. I realized that I had this negative voice in my head, critical and disappointed in me, at least half the time. I'm really happy that I've been able to get rid of this voice. Before I got started working with Heather, I had a lot of anxiety about potentially eating too much between meals. But now, I'm more keenly aware of my fullness, I can stop eating when I'm no longer hungry, and I can comfortably keep snacks in the kitchen. While she was in no way prying, Heather was very helpful in considering family, social, or work influences that may contribute to poor eating habits. As a result of my work with Heather, I have gained an appreciation for some new foods (and I lost an appreciation for some old ones), I feel encouraged to cook more often, and I no longer feel guilty from overeating occasionally.
