And from my first visit, I was hooked by the skilled staff, and their attention to what I needed to have worked on. Lara, the owner, is the person to see for a facial and came highly recommended by my friends. There is a puzzling divergence between the few unhappy Yelp reviews of Dash Salon and the large…read morenumber of unanimously five star reviews on Google. But the Yelp reviews are not recent, so perhaps there has been a change at Dash. The location is somewhat of a problem. Dash is located in a building that includes Harmony Chiropractic and Rueschoff Security. But the neon sign on the street mentions only those two business and not Dash. In addition, the entrance to Dash is at the back of the building, so easily overlooked. Ashley from Salon Renew has moved to Dash. She is an excellent nail tech. Since Salon Renew has closed, I just went to Dash for a pedicure with my wife who got a manicure. As always, we were very happy with Ashley's work. We cannot comment on the hair styling or massage at Dash, since we have not tried them yet. But the facility is upscale and excellent. I would recommend giving it a try (if you can find it).

The first trim was fine, but the second cut--layers she said were needed and recommended, ended up costing me $40 for a 30 min haircut and 20 min "no thanks" fix the next day. I had to pay another $35 to get it fixed at another salon, where they confirmed that the layering was uneven and a mess. I don't know what was worse, the way she attacked me with the help of the receptionist when I asked for my money back--(I had unreasonable expectations of what could be done with my hair??)--or the 3 inches the redo cost me in length. As a poor grad student who is constantly stressed, I am always in need of a good massage, but have the problem of being able to budget massage into my measly stipend. I thought my only hope was to get massages at the massage schools, but then I found Kamehameha! I've received massages from both Catherine and Shawn; both of them are extremely talented, though I prefer Catherine's style more (Shawn is great, I just prefer female therapists!). Catherine even teaches at the massage school in town, and I can only hope that all her students turn out to be just like her! Hour long massages are priced $34.50 for your first massage and $47.50 anytime (though I'm not sure why on their door it says $30 for your first massage? Kamehameha may want to either change the rates on their doors or on their website so they match). They seem to run a lot of specials for packages or couples massage as well!
