I had procedure done at Highland Park Hospital and everyone from the main entrance receptionist,…read moresame day surgery receptionist, pre-op nurse, Dr. Stephans (anesthesiologist), anesthesia nurse, Dr. Linn, Dr. Linn's PA or resident (Stephanie), the post-op recovery room nurse (Christy), Discharge unit PST, nurse Anthony, and Patient Escort were respectful, kind, and took good care of me. I had never been to Highland Park Hospital only knew it existed. Hospital looked clean and organized to me. The only ding was the urine hat in my discharge unit room was used not changed but I caught that and the nurse changed it (got me a new one). The whole team was professional throughout. Diligent on following patient safety rules from what I observed and patient centered is how I felt through my whole experience. They were also professional and kind to my family member. We got in and out smoothly. There is no parking lot fees to worry about only the highway and driving through dark residential streets is something to consider. During my annual physical, I felt that the care provided fell significantly below the expected standard. While annual physical is supposed to be a comprehensive review of my physical health, she rushed it through in less than 10 minutes, largely checking the boxes and lack of care at all. What is worse is her abusive billing practice afterwards. I was diagnosed with an early-stage chronical disease in the past that did not require treatment. During this visit, she proactively asked about it and I immediately stopped her by saying we don't need to talk about it. Still, she billed me for an additional office visit on top of the annual physical. Just like that, no treatment, no prescription, her asking me a question and my stopping her right away, she charged me an extra office visit! Outrageous! If you are looking for a new doctor or an existing patient going back to see her, watch out closely for her billing!

I suffered from chronic sinus infections that were just crazy. I went to Dr. Miller expecting the usual script and and a co-pay but what a pleasant surprise I got. He was so thorough and detail oriented that he asked questions that seemed out of sync with the routine I had experienced elsewhere. He asked about my lifestyle, my pillows, my diet, well you get it....and he LISTENED. I actually now understand why doctor's corporations are called SC for "service corporations". He was providing his Medical Services. He wasn't doing me a favor by seeing me. I was giving him an opportunity to practice medicine. Lightbulb, aaahhhhh moment. Did I mention he went to Harvard Medical School. Matters not unless they teach you human compassion there. Not only did he cure that malady, he cured me of pretty much everything and during the course of a general conversation, he discovered a something that several other doctors had dismissed or negelected. Under his care and direction, I have been treated as a person, not a number and put on a path to wellness. He had given me guidance and referals that have changed my life. When I had a rough patch health wise, he was my go to guy and Dr. Miller got me through a series of unrelated, untimely and unfortunate health issues. We've since kind of broken up because he made me all better, so much so that I don't really need to see him much anymore. Not that I mind. But you know what I mean. I have refered countless people to him and each and every one raves. He moved from the city to Northbrook which is a hike, but his demeanor, candor and knowledge are worth every second on the Edens. He is kind, gentle, caring and concerned. Dr. Miller is the first physician I have encountered that practices the art of healing. How refreshing.On their website it says under his philosphy "Dr. Miller believes in a strong patient-doctor relationship and working with patients to optimize their health care" Understatement of the year. And lets not forget the support staff, Janie, his nurse. Can you say loveable and sweet. And efficient and kind. And accommodating and warm. Yep, worth every second on the Edens and then some!

AND he gave me an electronic prescription I sent to the pharmacy without ever picking up the phone. Anyway, technology aside, an excellent PCP.

She understands that a patient KNOWS their body and she listens to you from that perspective. She has NEVER thought I was crazy, or a drug addict, or a faker. I have referred friends to her who were in the same position as I was; ready to give up, frustrated, and tired of being dismissed. I can honestly say that Dr. Siegel is THE BEST, most caring, most competent, most intelligent and funniest rheumatologist in the entire state. If she moved her practice out of state, I would find a way to see her. I never want another rheumatologist to handle my care. Also, her long time medical assistant Shannon is AMAZING! She always listens and does everything possible to help me, even when she is swamped. I couldn't imagine Dr. Siegel having any other assistant.
