However the ultrasound doctor strongly advised to give birth at a hospital. At the time we didn't understand why or the urge to sway us away from the birthing center. When we told the midwive she immediately tried getting rid of me as a patient. I had to call around different doctor offices trying to be seen at 39 weeks which was impossible to get an appointment. My husband finally bugged the midwife enough for her to tell me to "go to a hospital, lie about having contractions" that she would make a call and have some random doctor that I've never met claim me as his patient for me to be admitted. We were left with no doctor, no help, no answers, told to lie to medical staff. It was completely stressful. No medical facility should ever treat someone like this ! Especially someone who is pregnant . It turns out that OUR midwive was responsible for the death of a baby during labor. 3 months prior to my delivery. Along with a list of previous medical misconduct. In the end we lucked out with a healthy baby, but literally shame on all of you. You all knew what was going on and you guys could have stepped in and provided the necessary care. https://mediaassets.abc15.com/html/embeds/Midwives%20database/Karin%20Braun.pdf KARIN BRAUN I HOPE YOU NEVER GET YOUR LICENSE BACK!!

After a glowing recommendation from an OB I work with and trust I decided to look into birthing with Mary. From the first visit Mary and Ellen conveyed confidence, compassion, experience and humor. It was clear that a safe birth was the top priority even over achieving a home birth if necessary. Her experience and philosophy of birth gave us confidence in trusting her with our care. Best decision ever. During labor Mary was so in tune with me and my progress she recommended a cervical check at just the right time to address a stall on progress caused by my posterior cervix. This timely intervention saved me from potential hours of exhausting and unproductive labor. After just 5 hours and in the comfort of my own home our daughter was born into Mary's loving hands. During pushing Mary took care to prevent perineal lacerations and after delivery she took steps to mitigate risk of postpartum hemorrhage for which I have a history. Both allowed me to experience the best postpartum recovery yet! By the time Mary and Ellen left, my daughter and I were clean and fed, our home looked as if nothing had even happened and I got to sleep in my own bed knowing help, advice and encouragement was just a text away. Mary is truly invested in the care and wellbeing of her moms and babies from the first visit through the postpartum period and beyond. Hearing Mary speak of her identity as a midwife is inspiring. To her midwifery is a calling, a way of life and a service to her community. It's a part of who she is to the core. I am so thankful to her and can't imagine birthing any other way.

Diane and Belinda are educated, caring, and very intentional when it comes to the care for both mom and baby. Finding Willow birth center was an answered prayer. The purpose of updating my review is the transparency of the billing team or whoever is in charge of finances over there. NOT GOOD. Bad enough to dampen the overall experience. With our first child, we left with a $1000 credit that no one told us about until we went back with our second child. We were overcharged and not told. With our second child, we chose to use insurance which helped, because our insurance team was able to help us keep track of the tasks that they were billing for. With our third and fourth child, we were only able to receive prenatal care. WHICH I AM SO GRATEFUL, Willow is the most comforting and reassuring group of midwives in Arizona (in my personal experience) However, from our first appointment with Willow for our third and fourth children, we were told by both them, and by our insurance company that all of my prenatal care was completely covered.... MY KIDS WERE BORN IN AUGUST AND IT IS DECEMBER AND WE ARE STILL RECEIVING BILLS FROM THEM. I HAVE CALLED THE FINANCE TEAM, WILLOW, AND THE NUMBER ON THE EMAIL TRYING TO BILL US. WE HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A CALLBACK. THIS IS MY REVIEW AND MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE, HOWEVER, THE FRIENDS THAT I'VE SENT TO WILLOW TO HAVE BABIES ARE STILL STRUGGLING WITH THE FINANCE TEAM A LITERAL YEAR AFTER HAVING THEIR CHILDREN. When I go to have my fifth child, God willing, I would so quickly call Rachel and Rubyan for a home birth if they have those qualifications by then, *wink wink* My suggestion is, if you choose Willow, WHICH I DO HIGHLY RECOMMEND, pay upfront in cash. Do not mess with their finance team. Not because you won't win, but because you'll be fighting a long time and that's the last thing any family or new mother needs postpartum. ***side note, all the first time moms upset about being sent home... that's totally normal to have a long birth. Your body has literally never had a baby before. With my first baby, I was sent home twice during my 19 hour labor. Healthy 9 pounder was born at 41 weeks and 6 days. STOP. BLAMING. YOUR. MIDWIFE!!!

I wanted someone who could help me understand my options, prepare for labor, and provide support beyond what I expected from my medical team. Hiring a doula gave me the reassurance that I wouldn't have to navigate the experience alone. Knowing Michelle would be there to guide, educate, and encourage me made me feel much more confident and prepared going into my first birth. After that, having a doula, for me, was a non-negotiable. Michelle has been by my side for the births of all three of my children, and I can't imaging a birth without her. Each experience was so unique and different, but her support, knowledge, and encouragement were invaluable every single time. I wanted unmedicated births, and Michelle gave me the confidence, preparation, and tools I needed to achieve that goal. During labor, she knew exactly how to support me physically and emotionally, helping me stay focused and calm through some of the most challenging moments. When I doubted myself, she reminded me of my strength and helped me trust my body. What sets Michelle apart is that she doesn't just show up on the day of your birth. She invests in her clients, provides evidence-based information, answers questions, and helps you feel empowered to make decisions that are right for you and your family. Her presence brought a sense of peace and confidence that benefited not only me, but also my husband. She helped my husband understand my needs and how to be a source of strength. She guided him through ways to encourage and comfort me during labor, which allowed us to work together as a team and made the experience even more positive. Because of Michelle's support, I look back on all three of my birth experiences with gratitude and pride. She is clearly knowledgeable and experienced, and I am thankful for the role she played in my birth. During transition and pushing, she offered guidance and support that was helpful in those intense final hours. I do believe she understands birth well and brings expertise to the room. That said, there were a few things that did not sit right with me. At multiple points during contractions, when I looked up, she was visibly on Facebook and Instagram. I understand that long labors can involve downtime, but she was only physically present at the hospital for a few hours during transition and pushing. Given the relatively short window of in person support, it felt disappointing and inappropriate that she was on social media during that time. It made me feel like she was not fully present in such a vulnerable moment. There were also moments where her reactions felt disproportionate, such as when the toilet water unexpectedly splashed up. Her response heightened the situation rather than helping me feel grounded and calm. In addition, I found the overall value of the package to be underwhelming compared to other doulas I interviewed. Many offered formal childbirth classes (which were extra through MM) and ongoing support groups as part of their services, whereas Modern Mama primarily offered monthly mini classes on rotating topics, which did not always feel directly relevant or comprehensive. For the investment, I had expected more structured education and support. Though I was appreciative of the nice photos that were included. I am grateful for her knowledge and the role she played in helping bring my baby into the world, but I do wish the level of presence, professionalism, and overall value had been stronger throughout the experience. I likely won't hire Modern Mama again although I don't have experience with the other doulas.

I want to start off by saying that I received lovely midwifery care from Erin, Kassie, and Chynna…read more If I still lived in AZ I would return there for future prenatal care. That being said, there are a few things I've reflected on from my time at Blossom and I have recalled a couple experiences that left me feeling uncertain and hurt. I had desired to reduce ultrasound exposure to my baby as much as possible, so I had agreed to the 20wk anatomy scan and a position check around 30wks. I requested that the fetoscope be used rather than Doppler and that no other unnecessary ultrasounds be done. I met HEAVY resistance to this request from each midwife, but particularly from Kassie who pushed my boundaries in an unprofessional way and she came off very judgmental. Rather than explaining risks AND benefits, I felt ostracized, especially when I said "is this okay" and Kassie said "well, no", but with NO ability to explain ultrasound risks to me in an articulate or evidence-based way. I truly am sharing this experience to help Blossom consider a different way to approach something like this if it arises in the future. I ended up having a hospital birth with Kassie and she truly was an amazing midwife, so supportive and a great advocate. One other issue was that after my birth my placenta was sent to pathology because of some concerns about it. Chynna told me about this in my postpartum checkup, but I was never given the report to look over for myself, and she had said that Dr. Nichelle would reach out to me via phone call to review it which didn't happen. Dr. Nichelle was also incredible during my birth and I'm thankful for her care. Again, my perinatal care from Blossom overall was excellent and I wish I had been proactive to address these issues with the midwives in person, but I also feel that it is good to share my experiences for others to know what care is like at Blossom. I do truly believe that each of these midwives care about you and your baby's safety and desire for you to have the birth you want! There is certainly more freedom in your care here than at a hospital! Thank you to my midwives and to Blossom for my experience. I look back on it fondly.

My family travailed the tension of life and death in our story, and while satisfactory, and normal physiologic experiences are great, hearing how licensed medical professionals handle dire, forlorn clinical scenarios is of utmost importance in precisely displaying a facet of skill and level of care that literally cannot be displayed at any other time, other than conjuncture. Making my testimony especially meaningful. If you had no complications, you can't speak to the things I can, because quite frankly both my baby and wife faced life endangering encounters and the assumed ability to manage such was sorely lacking, from not 1 but 2 tenured midwives who attended my wife's delivery. You could statistically bank on the likelihood of a normal birth and be fine BUT when it's not fine, it is catastrophically and preventably not fine. Survival bias is real. Chelsea & Lora came for a home visit in June, so we could meet them and discuss initial ideas about my labor/birth/etc. They both brought their individual strengths and so much knowledge. They then came back a few weeks before I was due to discuss plans for when i went into labor, comfort measures, etc. They were both there any other time my husband and I had a question throughout the whole process as well. I had a long, long (44 hour) labor and we (mainly my husband) were in contact with Chelsea/Lora the entire time. About 22 hours in, once the pain had gotten pretty bad, Lora came to our house at 8pm. She quietly supported us and helped get through the contractions. At midnight, Chelsea swapped in so Lora could get some rest. Chelsea encouraged me to keep moving and try different things to help progress labor. When we thought it was time to go to the birth center, Chelsea came with us. When I finally ended up being admitted, Lora was the doula who ultimately joined us at the birth center- and spent over 12 hours there with us. I had mentioned during one of our previous meetings that I would love it if the doula who was present could snap some pictures during the day of labor/birth- I wasn't looking for anything too fancy or professional but just wanted some iphone pics. Lora went above and beyond, using her own camera to take lots of pictures and a video of the birth- which we haven't seen yet but are so excited for! They came for a 2 week postpartum visit and it felt like having friends over to meet the baby- we cannot recommend them and their services enough & will definitely be using them for baby 2!

We recently moved to the east valley and needed a new OB as I have a high risk pregnancy due to my previous medical history. I explained to them on the phone if this was someone their office could handle and I needed to see an OB not a nurse or a midwife due to the complications of my pregnancy. I was scheduled for an ultrasound and "doctor's " visit. The front desk seemed more concerned about their nails and hair than doing their job. I had to redo the same paperwork 3 times because the girl upfront kept deleting it. The ultrasound tech was rude and just seemed annoyed we were there. She has zero personality. While the medical assistant was extremely nice; she did not seem to know what was going on; her nails were longer than her fingers which don't seem professional in a medical setting or even sanitary & she was chewing gum with her mouth open as she spoke to us twirling her hair and ignoring most of what I was saying. I was seen not by a doctor but a nurse; she 100% ignored my questions and concerns. I was then told thy were not going to do anything but have me come back because " we don't even know if you have a viable pregnancy " I was 6 days earlier than we thought and instead of being professional she was rude and heartless. This causes so much unnecessary stress. We got TWO second options that same week and they BOTH agreed the due date would be moved and baby was healthy and growing and there was NO reason to say what she said especially since I am still nursing and there is zero way to know the exact date of conception. When I told her what she said " no you HAVE to be this far along and you're just not matching that " It causes so much unnecessary stress but the way the entire appointment was handled was unprofessional and has zero human compassion. The only reason that I even stopped to wright this review was because the front desk called me today to verify that I canceled my apt. When I said yes I decided to go with an office with better bedside manner her response was " oh yeah that TOTALLY makes sense " and laughed and hung up.
