My life and the life of my child was put at risk choosing this place. At 38/39 weeks an ultrasound caught an issue. The diagnosis was something that the midwives said they could handle. However the ultrasound doctor strongly advised to give birth at a hospital. At the time we didn't understand why or the urge to sway us away from the birthing center. When we told the midwive she immediately tried getting rid of me as a patient. I had to call around different doctor offices trying to be seen at 39 weeks which was impossible to get an appointment. My husband finally bugged the midwife enough for her to tell me to "go to a hospital, lie about having contractions" that she would make a call and have some random doctor that I've never met claim me as his patient for me to be admitted. We were left with no doctor, no help, no answers, told to lie to medical staff. It was completely stressful. No medical facility should ever treat someone like this ! Especially someone who is pregnant . It turns out that OUR midwive was responsible for the death of a baby during labor. 3 months prior to my delivery. Along with a list of previous medical misconduct. In the end we lucked out with a healthy baby, but literally shame on all of you. Ladies beware! I paid the $15 for the insurance quote and never heard anything back from this business. Emailed and called to be told that their billing is not directly reachable and they do not answer emails. The last thing we need while trying to find care is to be SCAMMED. This review is long overdue, as I delivered 4 months ago. In the American medical system where patients are herded around like sheep, this facility is a FREAKING BREATH OF FRESH AIR! Having received care for my first full term pregnancy at another amazing valley birth center, Gilbert FamilyBirth Center (GFBC) had a lot to live up to, and they did not disappoint. At GFBC you are treated like a PERSON, by EVERY SINGLE staff member you come into contact with. EVERY TIME. They all learn your name, greet you, smile at you, and coo at your baby when you come back to visit for your postpartum care. The midwives spend 30-60 minutes with you at EVERY visit. They take care to make sure all of your questions are answered and concerns eased. They ask ample questions themselves to make sure your pregnancy is progressing healthily. Even being my second pregnancy, there were so many things I didn't even think to ask, or bring up. So them asking numerous questions really made me feel like they had the best interest of me and my baby at heart. My birth here was the experience I had always hoped for with my first, but didn't get because of complications that resulted in a hospital transfer. I seriously cry inside for all the women who seek maternity care from traditional OBs because they simply don't know what they are missing out on. Both of the main midwives here are amazing and just a phone call or text away at any hour. The pre and postpartum care is like nothing you'll receive from traditional OBs. Having the midwife come to my home the day after my birth to check on me and baby was the icing on the cake. Don't wait, call them now and schedule a tour! You will not regret it! read more

1000% would recommend!!! Where to start?! From the very first time stepping into the office for a center tour-arranging care to my very first visit and so on, I have never felt so "at home" and genuinely cared for from providers. This was my first out of hospital birth and I wish I would've done it with my others, All of the staff- midwives/student midwives/Birth assistants etc were all so welcoming and personable. The level of prenatal care was incredible and so thorough! honestly taught me a lot more than I've ever thought I'd learn from a provider -from alternative supplements/foods to help with ailments and symptoms. Towards the end of my pregnancy I was a little nervous about how delivery at the center would go since it was a first / "unknown" -they put me right at ease and listened to my feelings. Our birth didn't go as swiftly as I had anticipated (like our previous child) and had a few hiccups and road blocks along the way, but I was cared for with such compassion and patience. It was still such a amazing and beautiful experience and we are so very grateful to our midwife's & birth team for helping us bring our fourth baby earth side! We love you guys!! read more

Loved everything about my experience here. The small cozy family atmosphere is just what I was looking for. Birthing my way in a safe environment was everything to me. I've birthed a few ways now. First was a c-section, second was a VBAC with epidural in a hospital and my last 2 were in a birthing center, unmedicated. I don't question the first two anymore, I understand my journey in having the different experiences. We can't say enough about this place. They make birth a personal and beautiful experience. No one rushing you to hurry up or trying to push medications and medical procedures. No strangers walking in and out of the room. We felt safe and secure in the knowledge and skills of the staff the entire time. I was told exactly what was happening during my labor and coached on what to do at each stage. Allison is amazing! The office appointments are on time and they take time to answer all your questions. While searching for a birth center I was first pleased with the welcoming feeling I got here. Unfortunately, I was given the run around when it came time to figure out my options for payment considering their sliding scale policy. I had to email back and forth with a mystery person (the email was never signed by anyone) trying to get the right documentation to them and what I'd send was never good enough. I felt as though they did not want me as a patient. Maybe they don't benefit as much since I have Medicaid? Either way, I was very disappointed with the lack of consideration and customer service (the phone is also rarely answered) and decided to go with another birth center. I was between a couple choices so this experience really made it easier for me to decide. read more

The birth of our daughter could not have been more perfect for the three of us, I am so thankful for the Birth Haven! I had my first daughter in a hospital, and had incredible anxiety and fear that I would once again have my choices taken away. From day one at the Birth Haven, I made Every decision. I was in control of my birth and it felt incredible. Each time I entered, I was greeted by women who knew my name and were excited to see me. The collective knowledge of the staff in incredible- I was always learning new things and feeling empowered about my natural birth. Even when I was having anxiety or fears because of things that were out of my control, my midwives would talk me through it and give me every option available. I always felt safe. "We plan, God smiles." That's how I feel about our amazing birth story. My husband and I moved to Gilbert when I was six week pregnant with our first child. I found The Birth Haven at Life Spring Midwifery through a Google search and after reading through their website, was excited to visit their facility. We went for a tour of the birth center and it completely exceeded our expectations. Just walking into the birth center I felt calm, safe, and loved, and with this being my first pregnancy, those feelings were priceless. We knew this was the place and team we wanted with us on our journey. For those of you not familiar with birthing centers/midwives, there are tests, procedures, and other methods of care provided throughout your pregnancy to benchmark your progress along the way. The Birth Haven has so many options for you to choose from, we were able to customize our care with as much or as little of the advanced technologies they offered us. I loved that during each visit I was able to meet with the different midwives/student interns, as well as have a one-on-one (at any time) with Dr. Anne Marie Palzer. Through this process we were able to choose our birthing team. "We plan, God smiles," isn't that how the saying goes? After months of planning and getting ready for the birth, things didn't go exactly as planned. I labored at home for 29 hours with the love and support of my amazing birthing team (Caitlyn & Alison-midwives; Rose-doula; and hubby). At hour 29, my husband and I consulted with our birthing team and made the decision to transfer to Mercy Gilbert. This was OUR CHOICE. Knowing that I wanted to have our baby vaginally, we felt that because I was not progressing further, the amount of time in labor, and for the safety of mommy and baby, we needed to make the transfer so I could have the vaginal birth we wanted. (Mind you, this was our 'Plan B' in the birthing plan we had created with our midwife, Caitlyn.) Now I must admit, after 29 hours of labor, my husband and I were a little out of sorts (ha ha), but we can look back now and tell you how impressed we were with the relationship between The Birth Haven and the team at Mercy Gilbert. Our "hand-off" with the hospital team went so smoothly. I labored another nine hours at the hospital before vaginally delivering our beautiful baby girl. During those nine hours, my midwife, Caitlyn and doula, Rose, never left my side. These amazing, sleep-deprived, beautiful women stayed with my husband and me, and supported us until our little miracle arrived. Little did we know our other midwife (Alison) was at our home cleaning, doing laundry, and getting everything ready for when we returned home (how amazing is this!?). Our after-birth care was just as superior as our prenatal care. Caitlyn came to check on us the very next day at the hospital (how she was still functioning I have no idea!? I'd say superpowers). We visited The Birth Haven for all my postpartum care and our little princess now sees Dr. Anne Marie Palzer as her pediatrician. If you're still reading, then you are probably like me; a Type A, plan everything, gotta-ask-every-question kinda person! That is why I couldn't just write a one-paragraph review on this birth center and its team. I really wanted you to know our story and how even though we planned for a much different birth, our story is beautiful and precious to us because of the love and support of this amazing team. I am so grateful to have found The Birth Haven and feel blessed to have had them with us on our amazing journey. I absolutely love and adore Alison and Crystal so so much. They both were always so kind and so supportive towards me, it definitely meant a lot. Going from one place that didn't care to one that listens to everything and doesn't mind your texts drowning them with your worries.. I felt kind of bad but they truly care and that's hard to find. I felt more cared for then I thought was possible. It's emotional knowing that I won't be able to be in touch anymore after my 2 more appointments with my newborn, but it's definitely an experience I'll love and appreciate forever. They are AMAZING! It definitely sucks that I wasn't able to go into labor there, or be able to process there, I was hoping for a really great experience with my love and my new baby but I pushed and he was ready right when I arrived! This place is the only way to go for a natural birth. I loved this place so much and they brought me through labor with a birthing pool, hip and back massages, and a relaxing ambience with essential oils. The gave my baby girl a little oxygen when she was born to help get her started breathing. The ladies here were very knowledgeable and experienced. I would highly recommend them if you're attempting a natural birth. Mercy Gilbert is so close and has a working relationship with this place, so I was reassured knowing that if an emergency arose we would have nearby help. read more

I was going to wait until my last appointment to write a review, but I just couldn't help myself. This facility, these women who work there, they are the most professional and knowledgeable in their field of work. I gave birth July 22nd, but before that I had started my care with them in January. From the first day touring the facility (which doesn't begin with costs/financing off the bat, like other birth centers we contacted did) and explanation of care, my husband and I knew that this would be the facility where we wanted to have our baby. Each appointment thereafter made us so comfortable with the whole pregnancy process and Allison/Alyssa made sure to answer any questions we had during my stages of worry or doubt in order to give us the tools we needed to be successful when it came time for the delivery of my baby. A very special thank you to my delivery team, Allison, Sarah and Lindsay, for allowing me to have a drug free water-birth. Something I wouldn't have been able to do without your support and techniques. Thank you to the rest of the birth haven staff, as you all feel like family to me now and none of you have hesitated to give me support during my postpartum recovery. I had my first baby in on May 28th. I toured the Birth Haven the day after my husband and I started trying to conceive and never had any doubt that this is where I wanted to come for my prenatal care and delivery. From day one, I felt as if every worry I had was addressed and I was genuinely listened to. I felt safe and cared for in every way. My delivery did require transfer but Allison was stayed by my side the entire time and I felt so much better knowing she was there. Even though my care at the center has ended, I know that they would still be there for me if I ever have any questions or concerns. I would highly and enthusiastically recommend The Birth Haven to anyone considering a natural approach to child birth and those seeking a personable provider. Even if you plan on a hospital birth, their classes were extremely helpful for both me and my husband. I had my second daughter/ child here at the Birth Haven on Halloween 2016 ( this review is long over due); the experience leading up to the birth and the birth and labor itself we're everything I could have hoped to have. The staff is very friendly, thoughtful, and knowledgable they get to know you on a personal level and make sure you have appointments with all the midwives so you really get to know all the ladies here! They eased my mind in every aspect that I had regarding an out of hospital birth, especially due to some minor trauma I had with my first birthing experience IN a hospital. I love that you have ample time at your prenatal appointments and you don't feel rushed out. They even offer varying services, prenatal massages, chiro, and different types of birthing classes in house. I took the hypnobirthing course and did some chiropractic care and loved them both! All the holistic care they offer here and suggest is wonderful, useful and really helped. I am so very thankful for my midwives at The Birth Haven for all their support and love. I've never felt such a bond or sisterhood with someone whom I've employed. I'm not a patient to them, they truly care. I got hugs when they could sense I needed one, they listened to me when I just needed to talk. They never belittled me for my weight or food choices, only encouraged and gave loving support. My little guy ended up being breech the last weeks of my pregnancy. My midwives were super supportive and helped come up with a ton of safe options to help turn my baby. They even came with me to the hospital to support me for my external version to try to turn my breech baby. My water broke at 1am a day after my ECV and Allison and Anne Marie met me at the Birth Haven within 20 minutes or less. After examination, Allison and Anne Marie decided that my son was in the worst possible breech position and that a C-section was going to be the safest way to deliver him. I was beyond crushed my birth plan would not happen but so thankful they made this decision so quickly and confidently to ensure the safety of my son and myself. Anne Marie came with me to the hospital and I was so thankful she was there to be my advocate. This was my first baby, and being so confident I was going to have a water birth, I had not mental prepped myself for a hospital visit. She also was an awesome impromptu photographer, thanks Anne Marie for taking pictures! We were so caught up in the moment and the chaos of the hospital (and tons of contractions) that I don't think we would have had a single picture if it weren't for her. A day later Caitlyn visited us at the hospital to check up on us. They sympathized with me when I didn't get my natural water birth, but gave me hope that my next birth will be how I had planned. They shared their own similar birth stories so that I didn't feel like such a failure. Even if I would have known I was going to end up with an unplanned c-section from the beginning, I wouldn't have changed a thing. I could not have asked for more support and so thankful I chose them. My next baby will surely be delivered with these lovely ladies! Fingers crossed for a VBAC! read more

I chose to find a birthing center as I didn't feel neither myself or my first daughter was genuinely cared for with an OB/GYN and hospital. I wanted a natural peaceful way of bringing my 2nd child into this world. I chose Birth Haven specifically because they were supportive in my vegan/holistic lifestyle choices. I always received great advice from all the midwives and was surprised when they would make sure I had enough support at home and check on my mental/emotional health (previous OB/GYN never asked this!).
