The office set up is super cute and bright my kids enjoyed it they were also playing Cocomelon on the tv which my toddler LOVED and I appreciated as well! Judy greeted us in a very friendly and welcoming manner. She was also super sweet and friendly over the phone when I called to schedule our appointment. She was so patient with my highly active one year old and played with her as I shuffled all my things along with a newborn. She was such a big help and I'll never forget that. I felt relieved not feeling judged or rushed while I was there and this was all before even meeting the doctor! Dr Rivera is amazing as well. My babies responded to him so well. He is very knowledgeable and sweet, friendly, not intimidating and judgy which is everything I was looking for in a new pediatrician! In addition to medical services they have access to a lot of useful resources that parents of young children could use. It feels like family every visit and I'm forever grateful for them being my babies' medical provider! If I could give them more stars I would because 5 doesn't seem enough!

She is now four, and my younger son has also been a patient since birth. We stayed with this practice for years because we genuinely believed in what Dr. Rivera said he wanted his practice to be: quality over quantity and a place where patients and families mattered. Unfortunately, our experience over the years has become completely different. There have been ongoing issues with the office staff being rude and dismissive toward me as a parent. One of the issues that initially caused frustration was that the office repeatedly got my son's gender incorrect. When I corrected the information, instead of simply acknowledging and correcting the mistake, I was met with an attitude from the staff. Mistakes happen, but the way a parent is treated when bringing a mistake to the office's attention matters. We have also had ongoing difficulties with insurance issues and scheduling. Rather than feeling like the office is trying to help families navigate these things, we have repeatedly felt like we were an inconvenience. The situation that ultimately resulted in our children being dismissed from the practice was especially frustrating. I completed all of the required paperwork for my daughter's appointment. Instead of someone from the office calling or emailing me to explain that there was an issue with her primary care provider information and giving me an opportunity to correct it, I received a random text message stating that they could not see her because the information was incorrect. I responded and explained that this could have easily been resolved if someone had simply contacted me and asked me to correct the information. I received no response. The following day, my husband called the office and was told that because of my "attitude," they no longer wanted to see either of our children. Think about that for a moment. My daughter had been a patient there since she was a newborn and is now four years old. My son has been a patient since birth and is now almost two. After years of bringing our children to this practice, both children were dismissed because the office did not like how I addressed a problem that could have been resolved with a simple phone call or email. What is even more disappointing is that we previously had respect for Dr. Rivera and his vision for the practice. He often spoke about wanting to be different and prioritizing quality over quantity. Unfortunately, our experience has been that the quality of the overall patient experience has gone significantly downhill as the years have gone on. When patients repeatedly raise concerns about the office staff, it is incredibly disappointing when those concerns do not seem to be taken seriously. Now, even obtaining our children's medical records has become unnecessarily difficult. I requested the complete records for both of my children. Rather than providing a complete electronic copy of each child's records, I was told that I could individually download years' worth of documents from the patient portal myself. For a family that has been patients for four years, that can mean an enormous number of individual documents to download. The biggest issue for me is not that mistakes happen. It is the lack of communication, professionalism, and willingness to work with parents to resolve problems. We trusted this practice with our children for years. It is extremely disappointing to go from feeling like valued patients to feeling like our family is simply unwanted because we spoke up about problems we were experiencing. I would strongly encourage parents considering this practice to pay attention not only to the doctors, but also to how the office staff communicates with and treats families. The experience we had is very different from the practice we originally chose years ago.

The office staff was very friendly and the office itself was spotless. The nurse was also very friendly and able to answer a few questions. I met with the Dr and everything went downhill from there. I answered a few of her questions about my son and when asked if I had any questions myself, I said I did. My first question was met with an incredibly condescending answer and honestly medical advice that no one within my circle of parent friends/family has ever heard before. The Dr made me feel judged choices I've made as a parent and be littled my exclusively pumping journey for my son. (If you know, you know and I will not be made to feel less than for pumping vs nursing.) Coming in with a 6 month old, there should have been a conversation of hey, what did your previous provider share with you instead of making point blank accusitory statements. The doctor works for me and not the other way around. I will not be made to feel less than. Never again.

Now that the office is busier, I often can not get the kids in when they are sick -just sent to urgent care or Er ( I wasnt trying to pay high deductible and co insurance for these places). If we arebt sent to urgent/er for non emergency issues, then the wait for an appointment is usually 3 days or more. Routine physicals are at least a month wait ( make appointment in advance and keep it)! Receptionist needs more training on triage.

My husband and I are small business owners and are between insurances trying to decide/figure out what's best for our family. So today, I arrive to my visit for the first time in my lifetime without insurance. The receptionist proceeds to tell me a well child visit as a private payer (without insurance) is 440.00 per child plus the cost of the immunizations (which would be extremely expensive). So I pick my jaw up off the counter and again asked what was the price? Yes, ma'am 440.00 per child... now I only know this is absurd because my husband also had a well visit recently at his physician at the Watson clinic for 135.00 (without insurance). So you're telling me that the price for your service is 3X what other Dr's are charging? Not today, and never will we return. So the real question is does Lakeside Pediatrics just not want to serve patients without insurance? VERY DISAPPOINTED!

The staff is normally friendly and helpful, there's valet if you really desire and the security guards are always friendly if you need helping finding which floor & desk to go to. This is not the closest clinic to me, but it's the one I choose to go to because it's such a better and pleasant experience. The ExpressCare attached to the back is also much better for an urgent care as well. Maybe the only bad thing is getting in and out of the clinic- it's on one of the only steep inclines in Lakeland along the busy 540A so that can get a little tricky.
