Wow! Great spot for mountain bikers, hikers, casual joggers and experienced runners alike! Just a few miles off of 199, this county park offers lots of miles of well-maintained hilly singletrack in a shady, thick vegetated forest. I had read that Freedom Park has some of the best mountain bike trails in the region, which is part of the reason why I've resisted coming for so long. After my running experience today, however, I can't wait to get back out there to explore more of the trails. While my run today was moderately challenging, what I loved is that whereas many mountain bike trails have so many sharp switchbacks that it's hard to maintain consistency, the trails here have few switchbacks and offer alternative trails at each and every obstacle so that my run had few interruptions. All the trails are very clearly marked, with signage showing "more difficult" and "easy" options at every obstacle and half mile markers. The mountain bike trails are named by letters and the wider "multiuse" trails are named by numbers. Today I checked out the C trail and part of the A trail. Both of these trails total 4.5 miles in length, while the D and E trails are 5 miles and 3.5 miles, respectively. The 3 multiuse trails are a nice alternative for those looking for shorter distances or an easier course. In all they total up to about 3 miles or so. I found them to be a nice break between the difficulty of my running on the mountain bike trails. I was surprised at around 8 AM on a pleasant and sunny Sunday morning not to pass any mountain bikers on my run. Because the trails are single track, I will avoid coming here during the peak traffic times. Go Ape! Adventure Zip Line Park, which is adjacent to Freedom Park, looked to be the more popular attraction.

I truly enjoyed my visit to Freedom Park even though it was rather short. I didn't get to see everything the park had to offer, but the part I did see was beautiful. The Free SettIlement was very informative and gave a to chance to walk through pieces of history. The structures were well maintained and accurately portrayed the time period. The welcome center was staffed and had a few artifacts on display as well. The picnic area was clean and there were quite a few tables. At the start of each trail, there was a map stand with extra maps to grab which was extremely helpful. I look forward to returning to see more of the park.

Beautifully maintained park with easy parking. Open 7 days a week. Visitors center includes a beautiful community room for rent, artifacts and clean restrooms. Friendly staff explained the several trails that are open. Trail 3 is paved and was shady for us. Most trails are for bikes and narrow. Lots of nice picnic tables around the visitors center. The botanical garden is near parking and worthwhile to check out. We saw several butterflies and a nice variety of blooms. See the maps in the photo section for mileage of the trails.

Freedom Park is a gem. Miles of trails, beautiful gardens, elaborate playgrounds, picnic areas, historic treasures, a zip line, and a confidence course. It's beautifully maintained.

This is my favorite place to MB. Trails are well marked and the technical areas give yo plenty of options. Very scenic too.

Speaking of the bathhouse, it was not disgusting but could definitely use a good scrubbing. It smelled awful the first night but not the rest of our trip. The water in the showers was hot and perfectly adjustable! Both the men's and women's sides have 3 stalls and 3 showers with a common changing area. The office closed at 5 every day, and the staff members there didn't seem enthused about answering my questions when I went in. The store is very sparsely stocked. No hygiene items; just fishing supplies, ice cream & drinks, and a couple of power adapters and the like. The pool was great!

We stayed in the glamping sites right along the river and loved our views. The bathrooms were clean and well kept. There were volleyball nets, a playground and kayaks available. I also saw a few boat launches with signs for fishing tournaments. It gets really windy along the river and in the tent but we were prepared. I imagine it gets pretty busy in the summer. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and you can't beat the location!

Ok, this park is PERFECT. No, seriously. It has reached park perfection. There is the biggest (and…read moremost fun looking) playground that I've ever seen. There looks to be some sort of 'ship' for their imagination as well as several slides and merry go rounds and everything to keep the little ones busy. Going around this park, is a walking trail. It's not too long, its not too short. It's just right. You can leisurely stroll around the entire park, taking a break to watch the kiddies or...and this is the best part, watch the pooches. Among it's perfection, this park has three, VERY large dog parks. Two for the biggies (they need the room) and one GINORMOUS park for the Lil Napoleons (ever meet a small dog that didn't have a Napoleon complex?) This dog park is so big that after throwing the ball for 30 minutes, my very energetic poodle came up to me panting heavily & I swear I could hear "Uncle" as he dropped the ball & walked away. The grounds inside the dog parks are kept beautifully. There is a volunteer who faithfully cleans out the water bowls, picks up anything that parents left behind, supplies balls to all of the parks & for a bonus will even snuggle any pet needing a confidence boost. I am very hesitant in writing this review because if word spreads too far & fast, then everyone will want to come here & there will be a line. There are very friendly owners that come to this park, all different breeds. One day it will be all poodles, doodles, chichipoos, doxies...you just never know who you will meet!

There is so much to explore here and offers something for every level of stepper. Whether you're looking for an intense hike or just a leisurely stroll, this is a great spot to be. The park has multiple entrances and different access points which would make multiple visits here still feel fresh. The park is very hilly and has a lot of inclines so keep that in mind. Once you get down to the park you'll be greeted by the lake trail where you can walk in a loop around the stunning lake. You can also do catch and release fishing here which I saw multiple people doing. While the lake trail is paved, this park also has a variety of cobblestone and natural trails as well. The walks are pretty shaded and all have stunning views of either greenery or some water component. This is a great walking spot if you're wanting to really dive into nature and experience some stunning views. This is definitely a more mild intensity walk mainly because of the inclines, they also have stair entrances to get on the trail as well. There were quite a few people on the trail, consisting of families, groups and even solo walkers. Despite its almost secluded nature this park felt relatively safe with the amount of people present. You may want a trail buddy if veering into the natural trails but the paved lake loop was pretty open making it feel safe for solo walkers. Overall, with its variety of entrances, views, and the moderate challenge, this park is a great choice for regular walkers and nature lovers!
