Worse place you could deal with! They are about scamming college kids and don't even care. They rented to my daughter and gave her the apartment without cleaning it. Stains in the carpet. They lie and try to intimidate people. The "boss" Dean is the most unprofessional person. She should not have any job that deal with people (just read the other reviews). She's nasty and rude and could careless to help anyone! PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM RENTING FROM THIS PROPERTY MANAGEMENT!!! Dena you don't even know who my daughter is. This is one company you should avoid at all cost. We were in a property 11+ years, without a single conflict before FPM took over. Things turned into a nightmare soon as they sunk their claws in. Constant threats of eviction or non-renewal if we didn't cower to their demands. The lease had multiple addendums that included a waiver banning us from being part of any class actions suits that may be brought against them. Wonder what they are afraid of! Claimed we were argumentative because we fought to have the carpet replaced that was over 9 years old that we had split cost of with owners. Dena can't understand normal thinking and everything she deals with is greed motivated and is an expert at using intimidation and threats. We were even threatened with a rent increase if we didn't stop pleading our case. Guess she isn't use to dealing with persons willing to stand up and fight for themselves. We did break our lease, and pay a healthy fee, just to get away from this horrible person and company. We still had to take them to court to get our full deposit returned. We had asked for more but didn't get it. However we did get all the deposit back and know she was angry that we got it all despite all the "addendums" they had overloaded the lease agreement with. My advice to anyone reading this...RUN read more

Big waste of time. The application process is laborious. With solid income, perfect credit, no pets, no kids, solid background, they were still asking for endless documentation to rent a lousy place. I've had an easier experience buying houses. I especially warn owners not to entrust these people with their properties, as their homes may be left vacant because qualified renters are going elsewhere. read more

The employees are so incredibly rude, if only you could read the condescending, callous, and brutal emails she wrote to us....when we were simply asking for clarification of where our money was going. Nothing was good about my experience with these people. They lied from the start then as expected fixed not one item on a long list of things that needed fixing, I ended up fixing them, myself. I wanted to put everything back in it's broken down condition before I left but unlike them, I'm not a total asshole. It started out with an ad on craigslist the pictures were of a nice updated unit bright and clean and when asked if the pictures were of the unit I would be renting they said yes. Nothing in the ad said "pictures are of a similar unit not the unit being rented" as most reputable management companies do. It was not the same unit. The carpet was dark and shag like, ripped here and there with 30 years of ugly ground into them the linoleum was 1980's vomity stuck down poorly over another 70's vomit floor. The place was dark and dingy nothing like the pictures, this was important because I was renting from 1000 miles away this was a relocation and I could not travel there to go house hunting first. They stated non smokers and no pets I was thrilled because of allergies. Well the place reeked of dog pee, Marlboro's and stale beer. Took me 2 days of cleaning to get rid of the smell and I was a professional make ready person years ago so I know what I'm doing. So they did the old bait and switch on me and when I moved in and complained the queen bitch over there Dena basically told me if i didn't like it to move out or shut up. Well I did move out 6 months later and I kept my mouth shut until I got my deposit back. They scammed me for 125 bucks but I was glad to be rid of these leeches. Steer clear of this company they are some shady operators and I don't think they're too bright. They want to be professionals but it's just too much work for these lazy sacks of shit. Would leave minus stars if I could. Have never witnessed such rudeness, bulling, threatening, anger as I did in this business. There was no reason for any of it, but they/she began the attack as soon as her client walked in the door with just a few simple questions. This client was so bullied when she walked in and stunned at the behavior of this woman that she couldn't even ask her question which was only about the increase in rent, and why no notice was given. The woman, Dena immediately threatened with an eviction notice on her door the next day......against the law, told her she would make sure her rent went up. Grabbed papers out of her hand, refused to have a civil conversation. In all my years in customer service and the public I have never witnessed this kind of bullying and intimidation towards anyone's clients. It was uncalled for and disgusting behavior. I was embarrassed for everyone in that office that has to work with her. Do not go thru this company, do not rent from them, do not have your property rented with them, they treat people like crap. Run from this company. I'm not their client and I never will be, I only witnessed what happened. So so wrong. read more

Freedom property management is by far the worst property company to rent from. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. They will ignore service requests or not fix the broken things when they do come! The staff are rude, frustrating, and not helpful. I would've wanted to been homeless. Don't even get me started with Dena. You'll have to call her desk 20 times before getting an answer. She is as far from professional as you can get. She has no respect for other people and her actions reflect that she only cares for herself. I would be very surprised if she even cares about freedom property as a company. I would rather talk to a brick wall that insults you and spits in your face than Dena. Freedom Property Management bought out Wakefield Property Management almost a year ago. This past year has been a blessing for the tenants! Unlike the previous owners, Freedom actually fixes things, and does so in a timely fashion. They appear to be trying to bring the properties up to date while also trying to give the tenants a "bigger city" feel with items available online such as payments and requests. The rental office is even open a full day on Fridays (big change) and is actually staffed through lunch. Three complaints that are directly related to them: 1) some lack of communication when trying to schedule showings of apartments tenants are leaving, 2) some minor professionalism issues in the office (having discussions about other tenants loudly and in front of other people), 3) they don't have any buildings in San Francisco for me to rent (because I would DEFINITELY rent from them again!). read more

The person that runs the place (I forgot here name, she referred to herself as the boss lol) insulted me about my credit score after she denied my application, now me and my brother are out of $100 and still don't have a place to live. If this is the kind of service you like, I would recommend freedom property management, if you're like anyone else and expect respect from someone you're giving your business too, I wouldn't recommend freedom property management. This business is a joke. Worst communication, wont discuss information. Cannot answer there phones. No heads up or noticed for house checks. Ridiculous fees. Deana, Jesse, and Heidi are extremely rude and hard to work with. Being in college, I know multiple people who rent from them and no one I've talked to has been satisfied. They treat college aged kids with absolutely no respect and when they're wrong they cannot admit it. We had a problem with our toilet and instead of calling Mark, their handyman, they called a plumber and I had to pay $200 to fix a stupid toilet. I wouldn't recommend renting from them to my worst enemy. The levels of stress that was put on my roommates and I is immeasurable. The only time they have cooperated is when the parents got involved. It's sad the way they treat people and their level of care is absolutely minimum. Instead of helping and walking us through issues, they immediate resort to anger and that's not fair. We had a home under Freedom Property Management ever since they bough out Wakefield Management many years ago. Dena has been very helpful and always kept our property rented at market rates. We recently sold our house with a 1031 exchange and she was very helpful in making the process painless and flawless. If you are a property owner I highly recomend them. read more

This company is the worst. My roommate and I submitted applications and waited almost a week before receiving a letter in the mail telling us that we had not been approved because of credit history and rental history. Our credit is not the best because of past medical bills and student loans, but we weren't even given the option to get a co-signer or put down an additional deposit (like their ad claimed we could). Our rental history is also wonderful, so this is a complete mystery to me. I called and spoke to Lynda and was told she had no other information and that I would need to email Dena, which I did. I asked Dena for an explanation and told her I found it very unprofessional that we hadn't even received a call from someone at their office. She wrote back a very generic email, didn't even have the decency to address me by name and gave no helpful information other than our credit was not even good enough for them to ask for an additional deposit. If you ask me, they live off of taking application fees from people and are completely crooks. Do yourself a favor and don't rent from them and if you're an owner think twice before using them as a property management company because we are great tenants and will always be taking our business elsewhere. read more

DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS! Dena is an awful PM Manager. As Seniors we went into this whole deal in "good faith", but Dena did not. The house was not cleaned and had cheese, glue, and food stuck in the carpet that we had to clean when we moved in. There were holes in the walls as big as your fist. The bathroom toilet and shower leaked all over the bathroom and stank really bad and many times we had no hot-water. The kitchen floor was filthy and the appliances did not work. Their were tracks where mice, ant, and bugs were in the house. The furnace would stop working for no reason (we felt the thermostat was broke). The slider and front door locks were broken and would not lock. The bedroom window glass was broken. We reported the problems to Dena and she refused to fix stating it was "the owners" responsibility and he did not want to fix. These problems were reported to the FHA. Dena kept our whole $1800. deposit (and we left the house in WAY better shape than we moved in) and She is now billing us for more $$$ stating that we had to pay for the whole month even though we were not in the house during that time. We called Freedom last week because they had the most amount of stars in their reviews on this site (3), to have them come to our home to see what it would rent for if we were to lease it out for a year. An appointment was made by Dena,(her choice of date and time) for this morning at 11:00. We had other plans for today but cancelled them to make the appointment. We made sure the house was very clean and neat (it usually is anyway). Dena (the Manager) called 15 minutes prior to the scheduled appointment and cancelled, stating that she was very sorry, but something had come up that she needed to take care of. Then she went on to say that her company didn't like to do such short term lease agreements as 1 year because there are often problems with AC, hot water heaters, dish washers, refrigerators, etc. breaking down. She said we should check with another company. We are very upset with them, as it seems that they had no intention from the beginning to work with us and didn't bother to say anything until the last minute. The company is very unprofessional and rude!! Obviously her time is much more valuable than ours. read more
