Good Company Construction

We purchased a charming,100 yr. old house to serve as a second home in College Station. As soon as…read moreI interviewed TJ, I knew I needn't look any further for a company to renovate our house. He was passionate, knowledgeable & full of ideas. He helped with the design process as well as determining what selections would fit into our timeline & budget. Once the renovation was underway I had Mathew working onsite to handle the many unforseen issues that were bound to be uncovered during the demo of such an old home. He and Colton, one of the owners, did an excellent job communicating with me, and keeping the project moving forward. Living 3 hours away, trust & communication were critical, & I felt confident to be in good hands throughout the entire process. Colton handled invoicing and always took the time to explain when & what was being billed. They're pricing structure was fair. They take pride in doing quality work that will stand the test of time. It is rare to go through a renovation process and be able to say it was enjoyable. But with Good Company it really was. I can honestly say that each person I worked with was a joy to work with, exhibiting kindness, integrity, & a hard-working ethic. This company is young & up in coming so hire them while you can because they will get busy!!

Stearns Design Build - Kitchen Remodel

Stearns Design Build

A few years ago, I contacted Stearns after hiring an absolutely terrible kitchen remodeler led by…read moreDoug Smith (his company name changes, probably due to lawsuits), as I was in need of an estimate for what it would cost a) to undo the damage Doug's team did and b) to get an estimate of what it would cost to actually get my small kitchen installed. I am a broke grad student that owns half a duplex in hood-adjacent Bryan (it's not in the hood, but it's viewable from my home). When they came over, they were very honest in saying that they don't usually do projects as small as mine and that don't involve design; they do higher end projects. I appreciated their honesty, as I've had multiple people waste my time or charge an absurd amount, I'm assuming to get out of the work unless I paid them 4x over what others would charge for the same job. Despite my home not being within their usual budget and area of specialty, they still wrote me estimates for free that I could take to court when the previous remodeler tried to sue me for nonpayment when virtually nothing he did was up to code and most of it was actually a huge fire hazard. These guys have integrity. I've had virtually no luck with any home repair people out here and didn't actually hire these guys to do the job, but, if I had the money, I'd do so in a heartbeat. They're good guys with good hearts and won't take advantage of you and will make sure the job is done right. Genuine, honest, and reliable company! Highly recommend!

Stearns Design Build designed and built the first net-metered solar home in Brazos County. Stearns Design Build developed the Transitions design theory. This approach puts people in a home at the center of design consideration rather than the building itself, as is the norm in modern building science. By connecting people to their natural and community environments Stearns Design Build is able to design and build happiness and sustainability into beautiful projects. Aggieland Contracting

Do your homework before you hire Chris and Aggieland Contracting to do your remodel work. I hired…read moreChris to demo a shower and build an ADA compliant shower. While the finished product is beautiful it turns out he is a cheap skate. ADA laws are not in effect for residential buildings, and I understand that from the research I did. However His original quote stated specifically ADA compliant and all standard practice procedures I found were to include grab bars in an ADA compliant shower/bathroom for residential use. Chris refused to install the grab bars unless I paid an extra $615 on the back end of the originally quoted cost. This shower is for a 72 year old widow. How horrible that he would be not only deceptive, but also refuse safety and peace of mind to an elderly woman. In addition to the shower, he was also to install a custom steel front door to the residence as stated in the quote. His crew installed a fiberglass door which he claimed to be superior to steel. That is possibly accurate, but still not what I asked for. A week or so later he installed a flimsy box store steel door that I could probably bend with my bare hands. He told me that I would need a new quote to get the door that he said he would install originally. The new quote was for an additional $4500. Chris doesn't care about his work. He only wants to deceive you so he can squeeze you out of as much money as possible. By this point I was sick of working with him so I told him to paint it and get the job done. The third problem I had with Chris was his worst of all. During one phone call I had with him about the front door He stated "you are being too frustrating to me to have my crew install a different door." I understand that there will always be incompetent companies out there, but how can a decent business owner stay in business if he chooses to insult his customers? As a small business owner myself, my number one priority is making sure the customer is happy. Chris doesn't care what his customers think and his insults are proof of that. All that said, Angel and the rest of the workers were wonderful. If a problem arose they jumped to make it right without question. For instance during the demo they discovered some wood rot and had it replaced within a couple hours. At the end of one day they discovered that the drain was installed incorrectly and it was replaced first thing the next morning. Chris However only cares about collecting his payment. Your satisfaction will not be a concern to him. If you love to shell out money and don't care about getting what you paid for go ahead and hire Chris and Aggieland Contracting. Just understand that you will probably have to hire a second contractor after the fact to finish the job.
