This is a decent local diner. We have had good food at times, but then, we've had some strange experiences with bad service. Times we were completely forgotten about. Their soups are good. Breakfast is available anytime, but some things aren't great when ordered later in the day and I suggest avoiding home fries after the typical breakfast hours. They're usually old, hard, dry, etc. good thing is they have let me switch potatoes for fries, which are really good, and I would also think hash browns have to be made to order, but I'm not positive, ask first. Freeland Diner is in Pennsylvania and is a great option for diner food. The menu is massive and quite frankly there were a lot of great options. I went with The Big Boss which had Breaded Veal Cutlet and Mozzarella cheese sticks, topped with Mariana sauce and melted mozzarella cheese on a toasted steak roll with French fries and pickles. As usual I've driven by this place many many times but mostly when it was closed. The hours here are from 6am to 3pm on Sundays, Mondays & Tuesdays and 6am to 9pm Wednesdays thru Saturdays. When I walked in the first thing I noticed was... The server, Jill, was very pleasant and professional. The menu is quite expansive and colorful. Many pictures show the options available. They have quite an extensive seafood selection - which I'll definitely be back to try. Today I'm here for breakfast. And surprise the breakfast menu is available all day long! THAT is awesome. The coffee is typical for a diner - not too strong and non de script. It was fine. I ordered the Greek Omelette and added tomatoes and mushrooms. Also ordered a side of smoked sausage. They offer Russian Rye Bread so I went with that. The decor is apropos. It's a throw back. Very Americana with lots of red, white & blue. The tables are spaced apart enough where you don't feel like you're cramped into them. There are also booths available. The omelette was underwhelming. Not sure what I was expecting but when I think anything Greek - I expect lots of flavor and fresh peppers and onions and tomatoes and especially Feta. I had added mushrooms and tomatoes as they were part of the listed ingredients. I was charged for them but they were hardly visible. And I truly couldn't find the Feta Cheese. I won't be getting that again any time soon. It was also super dry and visually unappealing. It was so dry it broke at the folds. When I return I'll ask the server to recommend something popular. Hope that's the way to go. There are many options as the menu is extensive. The hash browns / home fries were crispy. I asked for them to be. But, they came to the table unseasoned. The crunch was great though. The grilled onions - something I order everywhere - were unseasoned and almost raw. They were warmed through. Such a shame. It's easy to do - just let them cook. Sprinkle with some broth and cover. Then brown them. I ordered Russian Rye but, don't think I got that because I couldn't taste the rye. The ambience was comfortable. The background music was inaudible. Couldn't even tell you the genre playing. Plenty of convenient parking just out front. I overheard the waitress complaining to a table that she was now expected to serve the counter. I see that as a no-no. It should always be smiles and grace. But, they seemed to have a familial relationship. All-in-all not a bad experience. Just an experience. Not a great one. Meh. I would return to see what the lunches look like. Saw a few things taken to other tables that looked tasty. So, come check this place out. They're friendly. And I'm sure there are many happy customers. Let me know what you think. read more

The menu is a bit small, but the quality is better than the quantity. Most, if not all of the food is homemade, which might explain the prices. So many overpriced restaurants in that area and most diners were closed that day, so we were relieved to find that Freeland Diner was open because we were starving! We had been swimming all day at the lakes and were famished. They were able to seat our party of 12, and their food is delicious. Comes in large diner-size portions at a great price. We had a lovely lunch today. Enjoyed the food...awesome Greek salad with chicken and pitas. So good. Hubby had baby beef liver, so tender. There was so much of each that we brought some home. The service was excellent! And we were greeted by the owner. We always love going to this restaurant, never had a bad meal, and the setting is very calm and casual. We'll be back for sure. What a wonderful experience at this diner,the staff is so nice and the food was amazing,I had a mushroom and cheese omelette and it came with hash browns and toast,very flavorful,my husband had a burger with fries and he said it was very good,the girls made sure your drinks were filled and asked if they could get you anything else, also thought it was quite cute being called honey or dear it added a special little touch, some people may not like it but you know what it's not meant in a bad way so lighten up, all in all it was an excellent visit and it will definitely be going back!!!! read more

This is my 3rd time visiting this location . I couldn't do a review of the first 2 visits . I tried they breakfast lunch and dinner . So I get to do my review now , Customer service is excellent from the time you walk into the establishment. Immediately, they greet you at the door with a welcoming service. Amazing service. I can tell you one thing they love working together, and it's the energy that makes you feel good about sitting down and eating at a public place . Let's move on to the excellent food they serve today on this particular trip. I got me the (he-man) yes I love food so I get what would be fulling for me. This is a combo of pancakes , toast , home fries, and eggs of your choice. As I placed my order, you are greeted with fresh hot coffee or decaf your choice as you wait for your food . As you get low somehow, they know you low they come around with more coffee . The manager frequently comes around to check on you, making sure everything is OK . I tried the 309 burger med well, and that was an amazing burger as well. On my first visit here, I did the steak and eggs with a salad, and that right there is what drawn me to come back up this way again to try more of the menu. We're on a road trip from Delaware to Buffalo NY. Stopped in town to check out the Miners Historical Village and grabbed takeout from Freeland Diner. I used to have great service at this location. But today I came in for breakfast and was seated. For 15 minutes I wasn't offered anything to drink or even given a menu. Another group came in 10 minutes I arrived and they were greeted at the door and seated, within two minutes they had coffee and menus. Highly disapointed. read more

It would be nice if some of the waitresses would actually tend to their tables instead of talking to the "regulars" and STOP giving the check the moment the food hits the table. Theyre the only restaurant that allows that to happen and it's RUDE and IGNORANT. Our waitress didn't come back to refill our drinks and was throwing boxes at us. We were sat at a table for four when there was 6 of us and they wouldn't allow us to combine two tables. We were squished at one table with little to no room.
