Review #491 Saturday - 8/31/2024 Drum Roll In The City Of Drums! I'm still reviewing in PA after visiting family for 2 Birthday celebrations, so was also here to Cheer & Dine at Evan's for the first time. But Will Be Back here in Drums Again! 5 stars for Food, Service and Ambiance ! ***** My cousins live in Mountain Top and every year or twice a year depending on our schedules we visit each other in our states 10 hours away! My dear and wonderful cousins Donna & Steve D. always likes to surprise Me with a new and different place to eat inside especially since they know what to expect for a excellent dining experience for lunch or dinner. We all stopped here for dinner on Friday August 9th since being in town for Aunt Peg's surprise 90th Birthday Party on Saturday the 10th. Note this restaurant establishment does NOT accept reservations but there's plenty of room inside in front, back at the bar and a private dining room for groups and special occasions. Upon entering the door is that hometown feeling where locals dine more frequently than a Michigander as Myself but that's okay cuz Steve picked Evan's Roadhouse as a "You will Love their chicken and Philly steak sandwiches and those beer battered fries. So I said You are the King of Food! Our server was Katy and she was very welcoming to seat us all in the Private Dining Room... maybe she thought to keep us quiet away from others? We are happy and loud gabbers! lol The menu has many delicious and tasty food items to try. (Photos attached) They also offer a Happy FOOD Hour too so eat after work or just early ! The BAR Menus we talked about 1st of course and throughout our long dining visit the 6 of us drank 3 rounds of cocktails to celebrate Steve's birthday and just being together for our Summer visit. I certainly enjoyed My cocktail called a Blue Hawaiian although it was green after mixing in Malibu Rum, Blue Curacao, Pineapple & Lime Juice. I ordered the shaved chicken wrap sandwich and it was loaded with meat, cheese, peppers and onions plus filled with flavor and YES I ate the whole thing with Evan's famous tasty beer battered seasoned fries. Another great place to eat in Drums, PA (Near Aunt Peg's apartment and My cousins house 10 minutes down the hill in Mountain Top. Prices are reasonable although another visiting family member took the bill to pay so I didn't see the total although the bar tab was thirsty to say ! $$$ Thank YOU TO KATY our server that was attentive, pleasant and helpful with suggestions to our questions and with ideas as well. I love their shrimp tacos. I recommend their tacos. And their wings are also good as well.

We are on a road trip from California to New York and have been going to fast food most of the time. We had extra time on the last day before we picked up some more people so we went here and I am very glad. We have 5 boys and 2 dogs and as soon as we got to the patio with the dogs, they were greeted immediately which the dogs LOVE. The menu is huge so it took a minute to decide. I got the French dip sandwich and I am very judgmental on them because of a place called Philip's in California. The French dip was great. One of the best I've had! All of the servers and waiters/waitresses are extremely friendly and always happy to chat. They've got great songs of which I believe are 70s. Our waitress, Diana was very kind and brought out water, treats, and toys for the dogs as well as others around here. The patio is great and the bathrooms are really clean. This was great and we will likely go back here on the way back from New York. 10/10 read more

Ambiance was very pleasant. Quiet, soft music, good crowd. Excellent service. We stopped here while driving from NYC to Buffalo. The menu selections seemed good. There were two of us, and my partner got the French onion soup, which was very good. Better than average. We both got hamburgers. Mine LOOKED delicious and juicy, but had grizzle in every single bite. Also, I asked for a side of mayo, and was charged 35¢, WITHOUT BEING TOLD THAT MAYO WAS AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE. Stopped at Evan's Roadhouse while traveling along Route 80. The restaurant was just a few minutes off the highway and easy to spot. For a Tuesday, I was shocked at how crowded the parking lot. Apparently the $2.99 Tuesday Burgers are a big draw. You start with your choice of patty; beef, chicken, salmon or veggie, then add on different toppings (each priced differently). I ended up with a beef burger, blue cheese, bacon and ranch and was very happy with it. They run different specials each night of the week- wings, tacos, etc. The staff was super nice and tried their best, they were clearly flustered with the crowd. The decor is what you would expect from a "Roadhouse" pub, but everything inside could use a good cleaning. Additionally I was off put by the amount of flies/ pests flying around. read more

They are closed right now since a fire burned a good portion of the restaurant. We wish them luck, and hope to see them again. We eat at Evan's a few times a year. We were there today, 3/24/18, and I have to say the food was delicious! We had their rendition of nachos which is called "South of the Border" it was nacho chips, delicious sweet chili, salsa, scallions, cheese, and sour cream. I had Thai chili wings. They were very big and done perfectly. The sauce was a little tangy, and a little sweet. Perfect! My husband had the special which was a Cuban sandwich with fries. The sandwich was on lovely Italian bread. It was grilled just right. The fries were great, and I'm not really a fry eater. I am an incredibly picky eater, and I enjoyed everything. The waitress, Gloria, was extremely attentive, professional and pleasant. Evans is recommended by me, the spodaughter of an excellent chef! read more

We enjoyed the food. Service was good also. Kinda small inside, but still accommodating, has outdoor seating which is nice. It burned down and I haven't been there since. There was a benefit close by and they didn't allow ppl to park in their lot, which I thought was crappy, but do to recent events (fire) maybe insurance was too high and risky. read more

Family friendly this establishment features grub pub. The weight staff was fast and efficient as well as friendly. They have some beers on tap. My companions fried shrimp was supposed to be accompanied with seafood sauce. The first attempt turned out to be marinara sauce. The second was salsa. At that point we gave up trying to get shrimp sauce. My roadhouse cheesesteak was likewise covered with marinara sauce on a bread so thick that it would shorten my life if I ate it. One person was vacuuming, my husband went to ask if kitchen was closed and she shut the door in our face. Don't bother treating us like human beings and engaging with us. I so wish I had my phone to take a picture, then I would not have to go into detail about the sorry meal we just had at "our favorite" place. We always order the same things on our date nite and I was looking forward the $14.00 Fish and Chips and the French onion soup. The soup was luke warm under the cheese and we mention to the Waitress but we said don't worry about it and ate it....BUT the fish came out lookings as if someone tried to re-fry it and the burnt greasy part flaked off in chuncks revealing another batter layer. This time I showed the waitress by flaking giant bunt greasy pieces of in a napkin and since the cook said there was NOTHING wrong with it I folded the nasty parts in a napkin and gave it to her to give to the cook. This restaurant was suggested by the front desk at the Holiday Inn. Drinks were great, service good, considering the waitress were working their buttons off. A real roadhouse - great live music and food. Popped in after looking for something to do while in a town I had not been to before- I passed Evan's on the way to my destination and they listed the bands that were playing. Went back that night for some grub and to hear the band and was not disappointed with either. The food was real good pub-grub and the band rocked the place. The crowd was surprisingly small considering how good the band was - or maybe I was there too early - but in any case the place was decent. Large parking lot. read more

My family came here around lunchtime in hopes of finding a decent place to eat in the area of the Quail hollow housing/lodge. To be fair, the food here was inexpensive, but from rock hard bread, to cheaply prepped food, my family and I decided that we'd go to Walmart and cook for the rest of our stay in the area. I ordered the pulled pork and it was pretty much meh pork (almost seemed like an old batch that they just reheated) in really mediocre sweet bbq sauce. If the prices were higher I imagine my family would have been livid; but we shrugged because you can only expect so much. So for the Price point it wasn't TERRIBLE, but we did expect better still. Decided to find somewhere to eat on our trip home and this was the only thing we could find that wasn't fast food. We started with mushroom soup (ehh) and French onion soup (if we prefer all bread and no soup it's great. Lol. Good flavor but to much bread). We both got wings. Never Again... Service was okay but staff needs improvement on up-selling and introducing selection based on unique menu items and specials (something management should train and teach on), and quality of food was so-so, but the restroom experience was less than desirable. The place was an antiquated quasi bar/diner establishment trying to come across as a trendy modernized restaurant. The interior needed some perfecting, but the restroom for the men was too small with only one commode and only one single closely placed urinal right beside it. Nasty. The toilet seat (see photo) was a small circular rounded seat (not for public usage) with slow low water pressure flushing. The toilet paper dispenser had the cheap single plied rolled paper which was glued tightly and difficult to dislodge. Someone forgot to release the paper for set up. That's poor service and lack of respect to customers and patrons. Also they use cheap toilet paper (single ply junk). The dispenser itself was metal (see picture) with cutting perforated teeth (look closely at photo) which cuts your hand when trying to grab your paper. Horrible experience and cheap. Public restrooms shouldn't be a make or break for patronizing restaurants or bars, much less retailers, but when you're visiting an establishment, trying to find happiness in eating and doing business, going to the restroom (to wash up before meal or having a visit to use it) shouldn't be a displeasing experience or regrettable one, nor should it be a difficult embarrassing ordeal. Simply put they need an upgrade and modernized update on their facilities. A cheap clasp door latch (see photo) on the men's restroom to keep someone out of the restroom isn't my ideal of a safe and secure peace of mind visit either. They can do better. Makes me wonder what the kitchen looks like. I won't be back. read more

We are locals that frequent this restaurant and we're very happy when they re-opened after their fire. We brought our 80-year-old mother there once a week. We went tonight and in the new construction they have a new HVAC system where the air conditioning is blasting and it is literally freezing inside the restaurant. We complained that it was far too cold. We went back to our car to get blankets to wrap our mother in. We watched many tablesAround us complain also. The response was we keep it cold in here and they won't turn it down and they won't change it. They were rude condescending and made it clear that if he didn't like the cold don't come back. So bring your ski jacket or don't go. Food is still fantastic however it's far too cold to enjoy your meal read more
