The family of our loved one is pleased! My first in- person meeting was as expected; Reviewing the packages, making selections; Type of service, date/time, casket, casket spray, payment timeline, scheduling for clothing drop-off and viewing. While I posed many questions, I received answers. I was made aware of what to expect due to the health condition of my loved one. I honored the timeline accordingly and ensured our play list was provided to allow ample time to coordinate. Submission of his clothing and meeting Damian who assured me the fit will work. Issuance of payment was as agreed and I was previously contacted of the arrival of the death certificate. The viewing was on time and our LO body exceeded our expectation. The Limo driver arrived prior to our agreed upon time & advised of his presence only - There was no rush just letting his presence known. The family was greeted upon arrival and escorted to the Chapel and we maintained to timing schedule. The compassion of each person our family engaged with was the perfect experience. The owner, Glenda is VERY unprofessional! Let's start there. I would NOT recommend this funeral home. Glenda is very ghetto, insensitive and outright unprofessional. I wish I would have done my research or at least seen the other reviews before I used this funeral home. The reviews are 100% true! Clearly if over a dozen different people are having the same encounters/negative experiences than something is up. I had to find this out the hard way, so made sure to write my review. Hopefully, I can save someone. The final straw was my mother's finally viewing (day before the service). Glenda had an attitude because she did a rush makeup job and we asked her to clean it up. She said to a grieving family "yall all up in her face" when I thought that was the point of the final viewing. She did not want to do her job AT ALL & blamed my mother's condition to why she couldn't do her job, when they were supposed to be the professionals right? I guess not. She just wanted us to come, look & leave w/o any comment at all. The funeral home is ghetto. One of the staff members would not give the deceased Aunt an obituary. Also Andre or Anthony (I can't remember the Older Man's name) got smart with the deceased Mom. Also it sup to been a private funeral they didn't use code words. They let anybody come in. The make up was horrible. This is a messy place that's only about money. I was being cheap so I picked this place. God is watching he knows what I'm taking about. The owner Boss the staff around and is very messy. The rest of the staff just there to do their job. Freeman's were exceptionally professional and showed empathy for me and my siblings in the time of one of the hardest things we had to do which was lay our mom to rest. From the first meeting Ms. Glenda made us feel like family and explained every detail with ease.The day before the service I didn't want to view my mom and Ms. Glenda came out to my car and grabbed my hand and ensured I'll be ok and that my mom looks beautiful she proceeded to inform me how happy and joyful my siblings were viewing her, so I went in to view her and that was the best decision I've made because she looked so peaceful and amazing,My mom looked so beautiful for her service and anything was perfect, professional and on time. read more

If there were negative stars, I would have chosen that option. Even 3 years later, I am appalled by the treatment we received from Glenda Freeman. She was unprofessional, uncaring, and just plain rude. She threatened to hold my Aunt's body hostage for payment that had not been requested yet and caused undue stress in getting the payment to her stating that she was leaving in 20 minutes, which was 25 minutes before she told what the final cost would be. She stated that she "didn't care if the body made the flight or not" when asked how we should facilitate making payment within her short and unreasonable time frame. She also yelled at my Aunt and told her that she would not accept her check because she "didn't know her." There were many more grievances that occurred during this sensitive time. I am hoping that they are no longer in business but if they are, save yourself the added anguish and go elsewhere! read more

I've never experienced such an unprofessional and deceitful vendor in my life. I have them listed in my phone as "GHETTO FUNERAL HOME." The people here clearly never took a business course, let alone understand the definition of words learned in grade school. One can not hold a decent conversation with them as they seem to be "challenged" when it comes to the English language. Everything was great until the returning of personal items were disregarded. My mother was cremated. Her clothing and accessories were requested to be returned in 4 different conversations with the owner Glenda Freeman. My mom wore a beautiful purple/lavender dress and jacket combination with a very nice sweater for the service. When those items were asked for the owner explained to her husband the request was not received in time. She was cremated! I spoke with the owner on several different days explaining the importance of receiving the items back. I'm sure she was not cremated in her clothing that is inconceivable. Robbing the decease is incomprehensible but people will do anything. You put your trust in them to do right by the grieving family. Their integrity to carry out a simple task was over looked or stolen. So it doesn't matter to me how nice the service was, it's the cherished items that I no longer have that they receive a score rating of 1. The owner has not responded to me as of yet. They get one star only because that's the lowest ranking possible. I observed two white hearses bearing the Freeman name travelling southbound on Rt 5 being driven aggressively. The lead car had flashing yellow and white lights in its grill. The lead hearse was tailgating me with those lights flashing in my rear view. When they were able to pass me they went by an accelerated to speeds over 70 miles an hour in a 55 meh zone. They exited on Coventry Way. Because of my concern about the unsafe driving, I contacted owner Glenda Freeman and was very disappointed in her response. She had already spoken with the drivers. She explained that they were late for a funeral and that family members were waiting etc. I tried to point out to her that being late for a business appointment did not constitute an emergency, that hearses are not emergency vehicles and are required to obey all traffic laws, that if one of her vehicles was involved in an accident, there would have been a real problem with the bereaved family. I would also have pointed out that the way she conducted herself on the phone was "heated, unprofessional an insensitive." Which was also the finding of the State Board of Morticians and Funeral Directors in a consent order back in 2010. As soon as I started to speak she interrupted me and began talking over me. When I pointed that out to her and politely asked her, please, don't interrupt, She hung up on me. In 2010 the State Board found that Glenda Freeman had mishandled human remains, effectively held a corpse for ransom during the bereavement of a family over payment which had already been guaranteed by an insurance company. During the viewing of deceased invaded the privacy of the family by continuing to demand payment. Glenda Freeman made numerous harassing phone calls to the daughter of the deceased demanding payment as she was enroute to her mother's funeral . Glenda is an admitted liar. She failed to disclose disciplinary action taken against her by the DC Board of Morticians. (Stay tuned for details on that case.) Then there was the almost laughable incident in which a routine inspection by the State Board resulted in a Marx brothers-like farce of switching bodies and caskets and a fleeing hearse with the inspector in hot pursuit. All of what is written here has been acknowledged as true with her signature by Glenda Freeman in a consent decree dated 11/23/10. Glenda had her license suspended and was fined $1,000 and required to take and pass an ethics course. Unethical Funeral Homes are a disgrace and a blight in society. Grief and bereavement are not things to be taken advantage of. Because she hung up on me repeatedly, I called her back several times. At one point she accused me of threatening her and told me that the cops were coming to deal with me. And sure enough a short time later I get a call from a PG county officer who had responded. So because of a telephone complaint Glenda Freeman abused the counties emergency services. Summoned a police officer over an unfriendly telephone call. It's regrettable for the person who may have had an actual emergency and had to wait while this officer changed a babies diaper. read more

I didn't know what to expect as this was my first time selecting a funeral home...and I had to do it at 3:00 AM in the morning following the death of my husband. It was perfect for my family - just the right size, at the right price, and close to home. Ms. Freeman carefully guided us through the process and made no high pressure tactics to up sale to us. Having the viewing, service, and repast all in one location with audio-visuals, and a Memorial blanket added for free made the day truly a celebration of my husband's life. No one seem to be on the same page, when it came to the point of taking care of business and a death certificate was needed we pretty much got the run around. I entered into a contract with Freeman based on the recommendation of the Pastor. I thought that if a company comes highly recommended from the leader of a Church what could go wrong? I have never dealt with an owner that was so cold hearted in my life. The only thing that mattered was the money. I receive a phone call 4 hours before the private viewing and I'm being told: "There is a church service that night so we want to move your viewing an hour away." After refusing to agree to the change I was met with an attitude and told "fine, but you'd better not be late because we aren't staying one minute past your allotted time." The day of the funeral were also met with more problems. My wife was ready to curse Ms. Freeman out in the church. Then when it came time to pick up the death certificates that were ordered through Freeman, I get told by the office manager: "You need to get here before noon, because I have Christmas shopping to do." Correct me if I'm wrong, but what are office hours for again? I advise any and everyone to avoid this business at all costs. My experience has been nothing but a disaster from the start. The office is dated and depressing. Glenda Freeman is completely unprofessional. She tries to multi task but fails miserably. You should never have three phone calls going, texting, emailing and customers in your office trying to conduct business. People come to you to plan a home-going for their love ones and to do it in a manner in which the process is made a little easier considering the circumstance. With you I am saddened to say my experience was made a lot harder than I feel it should have been. When you are grieving the lost of your family who needs these shenanigans. She tells you one thing then tells you another. She promises that things will happen on one day all for that day to come and go without a word from her. If her memory is slipping then she should try writing things down or keeping a log of what she has promised and to whom. Utterly disappointed and unsatisfied.
