I called here to get the number for my road side emergency phone number and the lady put me on hold for so long I hung up called back and they were closed!!!!!! I needed a tow truck. I called back the next day and and found out my road side assitance only covered $35.00 and I woulld hve to get reimbursed. My Agent Anthony did not explain this to me. My policy number is 4394206. WORST COMPANY EVER! DONT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. I started my policy with them on October 28th 2016 through a phone call. I clairly remember to demand Rental Car coverage and Tow coverage(to later on I discover that none of that was actually covered). I paid upfront the first installment plus half of the downpayment to start the policy and the agent told me that the next bill would come on December 10th(I asked to receive my bills due to the 10th day of each month because that's when I pay all my bills) with the second month installment plus the other half of the downpayment, which was FINE! It seemed the best insurance company ever to split that in half, right?! Wrong. On November 14th I called them to update my address because I had moved. They said they updated it. Fine. On December 8th I had a car accident due to a mix of hit-and-run of a truck that hit the rear bumper of my car and a giant pudge of water on Hwy 101 in South San Francisco. My girlfriend was taken to the hospital because she was feeling back pain and my car got towed to a tow place in South SF too. The next day I call them and I swear to god, from the moment I made my first call to the last one when I gave up, I spent over 20 hours on phone WAITING to be transferred to this and that person and after all that, they they had someone to call me just to tell they wouldn't cover my claim because my policy got CANCELLED on Dec. 1st(Funny thing: before the accident they kept calling me offering health insurance. Weird. I had to tell them 4 times to stop calling me offering other insurances). I asked her why and she said I had a bill due on November 20th and they gave me a 10-day grace period. BUT I NEVER GOT THAT LETTER. Also, they NEVER CALLED ME. Also, they NEVER EMAILED ME. They didn't do any effort to contact me and they swear they sent the bill to my address and when I asked them what address they sent, they told me they've sent to the OLD address. I asked them to update my address a lot of days before that. Why wouldn't they call me? Email me? Try anything to contact me? Send another letter to the NEW ADDRESS which I told them to update, letting me know that I missed one of the payments THAT CAME EARLIER THEN PROMISED but would be fine IF I EVER RECEIVED THAT LETTER. I would have paid. Ok, I was already too stressed to discuss so I just decided to pay to reactivate my policy with them, with a fee and etc. After activated the lady told me she still couldn't cover my claim because that happened when my policy was inactive. So they basically just scammed me and stole 2 months of premium plus fees for nothing. Now I have a $3,900 bill with the body shop repair company and a $2,150 bill with Kaiser Permanente because of my girlfriend's visit to hospital. PLUS it's tax season. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH TOPA / ANCHOR GENERAL / FREEWAY INSURANCE! HORRIBLE PEOPLE! LEAVE YOU WAITING ON PHONE OVER 1 HOUR FOR EACH SINGLE CALL. NEVER COVER THEIR CLAIMS. CANCEL POLICIES TELLING WE DIDN'T PAY SOME RANDOM BILL THAT WAS DUE EARLIER THEN EXPECTED. I should have come to Yelp before purchasing my insurance and TRUSTING THEM. People, just DON'T! Policy # 104602045431001 and don't deserve that star. My policy started 5/25/2020 insurance agent Ms. DEL CRUZ I understand you needed that commission because your not very good at your job. Got my policy in the mail and its not even close to the quote that we discussed. First of all down payment 285.00 was that high because my license was suspended. She knew then all she had to do was let me purchase a SR22 for 15.00 an 5.00 for Freeway to submit it, wait 3-5 days. It wouldn't have been 285.00, 2nd of all in my policy she stipulated if I don't have proof of CDL by 6/15/2020 it would increase excuse me. When you figure out how to get in DMV let me know "duha " have you not heard of COVID 19. 245.00 a month is not my quote we agreed first month 245.00 once DMV clear me from the SR22 you had knowledge of my monthly payments would be 156.00 now I've talked to 10 different team members my first phone call to freeway was at 11:am it's 1:30 that's how the majority of that was on hold now no body can seem to find a supervisor. Ms. Del Cruz don't work their any more.now it didn't take this long for you guys to price gouge an Scam me out of 285.00. They are not an insurance company, they are brokers. If you are looking for a cheap rate (like I was) they will hook you up with some sketchy company. I ended up with All Star General, they removed the discount that Freeway offered me (the very reason I signed up with them:money) and sent me a bill due 20 days after signing up for way more than I signed up. When I called Freeway I was directed to All Star General. All Star told me that was the price and they werent changing it. I then went with All State for a better policy and rate. All Star General didnt want to cancel their policy when I signed up with All State like the law required. Thats not Freeway fault tho, but the whole thing started with them. The insurance had told me I still had something on my record which I thought had cleared by now but guess not. Anyways I was given an answer, accepted it & kept paying the bill. CAUTION. DO NOT USE FREEWAY. BEWARE OF BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS. THIS IS NOT AN INSURANCE COMPANY NOR DO THEY PROVIDE A SERVICE THAT IS WORTH ANY AMOUNT OF YOUR MONEY. They are a middle man third party (i.e. broker) that refers customers to actual insurance companies. They take advantage of the desperate drivers with bad driving records and employ "bait and switch" tactics that are both illegal/fraudulent and extremely frustrating for the insured. Here is how it will go: You will call Freeway, they will quote you some great price, they will walk you through the entire contract (it will sound great), you will SIGN the contract, pay a deposit (something around $200) and then feel a moment of relief. THEN in 2 weeks or less, the REAL insurance carrier will send you a letter and inform you that your price has been increased for some ambiguous reason. At this point you will not be able to reach anyone at Freeway and everyone will point the finger at each other, place you on hold for 40 minutes or more...and that is only if you can actually get someone on the phone. This company needs to be IMMEDIATELY REPORTED to the CA Department of Insurance. They are violating several sections of the insurance code and what's worse is that I am not even sure if their conduct is governed by the code since like I mentioned they are not an insurance company. I have figured out how this company operates. They make money off your deposits and then when you find out you can't actually afford the policy, they refuse a refund. My friend had his month payments increased WITHOUT NOTICE two times (even after getting a written quote, signing a contract and paying a deposit). In 40 years of insuring my cars, for instance, I have never been charged when selling one car and adding a new one. (This is what they earn their commission for!) This company charged $100 for this! Then immediately threatened to send it to collections if not paid. They are unethical. I am writing to the Insurance Commissioner to complain about this company. Called Freeway insurance, they quoted me U $48 over the phone. I said it was too much and then was given a "Promocode" to walk in at this location and get insurance for U $35. Well... ended up wasting my time going. Mentioned the Promocode and still no discount. Tanya actually did a good job and got the $35 with the promocode by calling her manager (who gave the ok), until some "hotshot" stopped her and said he would take over... well... showed him how much I was paying with my last insurance, he could not even get close to matching it... then he tried to do the same and quote me 48 a month... same story, even with the promo code. Long story short, "hotshot" just messed up Tanyas deal (which she did an outstanding job closing it), no longer could do the $35 a month and was trying to make me feel stupid for paying more with Freeway than with my current insurance. Left this place in a hurry. Scam artists with the promocode. The way they have to get someone in the store is with the promocode, which didnt translate to any discounts and a waste of my time. The new lady said well the price went up so I agreed to the new quote and advised her I couldn't spend a penny more for the start up and first month.I then noticed a sign on the wall that said ask about our 100.00 discount for YELP reviews. she said oh you have to do that in advance to get the discount.
