The first thing you notice is that the place is BUSY with a commercial laundry operation. Several staff are washing and folding sheets at a pace. Sacks full of laundry are everywhere. On the positive side, for safety sake, you're not alone. I found enough machines for my use. All the washers have been recently replaced. Washing is $4.75. The dryers do a nice job for $1.50. Bring a roll of quarters or two. The change machine was out of order when I was there. Also, there is a sign on the restroom indicating it's not available for use. That's probably to keep out the homeless. There is an adequate parking lot, which is nice. Seating is limited with two small fiberglass chairs locked together covered with bags of commercial laundry when I was there. Moved upon request. The neighborhood is safe with a coffee shop across the street and a supermarket just up the way. This place works, but is a no-frill adventure. read more

This place is authentic. It is what it says it is. No frills, at all. Maybe it's a little pricey, but this is Seattle, yo. There aren't many places left that use quarters. That's kind of fun. The place is old and sometimes the machines don't work the way you'd expect. But that's cool because the staff will just hook you up with another machine. No frills here. I was tired of the single washer and dryer at my apt complex, but mostly sick of the dryer that wouldn't dry. i drove my dirty laundry to this place, pretty trashy looking on the outside and not so great on the inside. it had the basics: a change machine, laundry soap vending machine, candy machine, soda machine, etc.. but i did not like how expensive the washing machines were because there were only double load machines at $2.25. Luckily i had 4 loads to do, but what if i had 3? I wouldn't want to cough up that much. Didn't like the fact that there were no carts to transfer wet clothes to the dryer. i had to make a few trips back and forth. Hint: grab the washers next to the dryers! They dryers are super big, but I was hesitant to put all 4 loads in one.. but i easily could have now that i think of it. NO effin' directions on those dryers, and no time clock to tell you how much time you've bought. blahhh.. i put in a dollar for 2 loads in one washer, and it dried in less than 30 minutes. AMAZINGINGLY fast!! I think there was an upgrade to dryers the last time this place was reviewed.. the most uncomfortable seats to wait for your loads to finish, and no tv, no music to drown out the awkward silence.. so i rather stay in the car and bump my own tunes. It wasn't too busy when i went, which was a lazy saturday afternoon. however weirdest thing. a limo pulls up and out jumps the bride, groom and their wedding court. the wedding photographers were trying to be all kitschy and have the inside of the laundromat as their scenic backdrop. none of the groomsmen could fit in the dryers tho.. i asked if this laundromat was where the bride and groom first met. ehh.. they just pulled over on the side of the road and thought this might be fun.. i just found it strange, but rather eventful and thought i should yelp about it. omg why am i yelping a laundromat??! read more

Has the essentials but way overpriced. $3.00 gets you a wash $.25 gets you 5 minutes in the dryer, want half an hour that's $1.50, but who's clothes dry that fast? I've payed less in NYC at a laundromat. Staff isn't friendly. They offer wifi, but it didn't work for me. There's also no restroom available for customers, good thing Caffe Vita is right across the street for coffee, wifi and facilities. read more

This really sucks because it's the only laundromat within walking distance to me (no car). But the machines here are tiny, old and barely work. The change machine breaks almost any time I use it, so I don't anymore. The place itself is FILTHY. Every time I'm here I am so careful to not drop anything on the floor - dust, pet hair, human hair, gum, lint, you name it. Most of the washers have terrible smells and the insides of some of the dryers look gross. Of all things, this laundromat is insanely expensive and for what? To add to the disappointment, the last wash at this laundromat is at 6:00 during the week which makes it impossible for many people to do a quick load during the week if they need to, myself included. They do offer wash and fold service which is nice but I wouldn't trust to have my clothing washed here since they can't even clean up the building. I will keep coming here only out of necessity but won't be happy to do so. read more

The washing machines are always leaking and the dryers take an eternity to dry. This place is a real $hit hole. Literally. Just yesterday I came in to get some quarters when all of a sudden my nasal cavity was attacked by the most raunchiest odor I have ever had the displeasure of experiencing. I turn around and see that a transient had crapped on the floor and now was gingerly cleaning himself up. As of this summer this place was sold to new management and I have to admit it's gotten better. I haven't seen the machines overflow in awhile, and if they do overflow they now have an attendant there who will clean it up. They have a few cards to move clothes around in and if the coin machine eats your dollar, the attendant will turn the machine on and off until it gives the dollar back. Apparently they also will do laundry for you now.. for a fee of course. Unfortunately this also means that the attendant is always there taking up some of the machines. The other day I actually had to wait for a dryer (which previously was never the case). There are signs that say new machines are coming, but those have been up for awhile. It's a place close to my apartment that allows me to do laundry, and that's really all I need. read more

It used to be a good neighborhood place...although I haven't been back in a while. There is one thing that I loved about it...it was where they filmed part of the opening credits of the series "Dead Like Me"....or at least it was identical...right down to the placement of the odd locked wooden box on the wall behind the fiberglass chairs next to the beige/yellow painted cinderblock wall. A real turnaround... Apparently under new ownership recently, it's now got a full-time (friendly!) attendant (think: making change, safety at night, etc.) Very clean now, well lit. Washing your clothes at this place is like washing your clothes in Detroit or Albuquerque -- you should fear for your cleanliness and maybe your life. How does this place remain open and so incredibly shitty in Fremont, or for that matter, in Seattle in general? If you like crack or turn tricks for meth, this is your place. Otherwise, you might want to reconsider washing your panties here because you might end up with a rash. I used to live in an apartment up the street that only had a single machine and I always waited till I have nothing to wear before doing laundry. So I spent a lot of time in this laundromat. I never experienced the issues others have mentioned. Dryers seemed to work fine provided you use the extractor which is like an extra spin cycle. Other good things this laundromat has going for it is staying out of the cold while waiting for the bus. I can't give this place 5 stars because it is a laundromat and as such sorta ghetto. But aside from that it is a fine place to air you dirty laundry. read more

No attendent = lots of low-lifes in there. Half of the driers are broken and none of them tell you how much time is left. The washers leak like crazy and don't appear to get cleaned out much. You're better off driving your laundry 2 miles away in Ballard. That's what I did. read more

The new owner has the business in much better shape than before. However, the hours have changed and the last load needs to be in by 7pm when it closes at 9pm This is disappointing since the last load used to need to be ready at 9pm. Attendant is very nice and keeps the place much cleaner than i have ever seen in my last 3 years living nearby. I will need to switch places due to the close and open times. read more

I haven't been to Fremont Ave Laundromat for a few years. I remember it being nice and clean. I went the other day and though there now is an attendant, the place has gone to pot. Dirty, many machines 'out of order', and just rather 'seedy' now. It's too bad. Fremont is a nice neighborhood. I wonder if it was sold and the new owner is not taking care of the place. read more
