It's a little pricey but their machines are all brand new. It has a ton of tables for folding and a few places to sit while waiting. 1amazing thing is a 30lb washer takes about 30 minutes to wash and dryers take only 20 min to dry that 30lb load. It's new-fast and very clean. You do have to put money on a "Lumin card" that's the only way to run the machines. They could make this more clear when you walk in. Arne allowed me a complementary service after seeing my yelp review. So incredibly kind and proactive and not many business owners around King County would do the same. I went into Lumin for my complementary wash and an employee named Tracey was sooooo helpful during my visit. Not only is she kind, she offered me soap and fabric softener and informed me the XXL 80 pound washers can fit multiple comforters. She then offered to help us load! The customer service is amazing and I appreciate Tracey's above and beyond customer service and Arne for allowing me to try Lumin again with some support. Highly recommend this business!!! read more

I had two down comforters that needed cleaning. I hate to adm this, but putting the duvet cover back on the comforter was always rrickey for me. I came here and opted for drop off service. Almost sad I made this decision. For there are so many amenities offered if you stay. WiFi, free beverages and individual hangout spaces while you wait. Y order was completed quickly. With down comfortors, the cleaning can be tricky. This is why I opted for drop off. The drying process needs to take into consideration the uneven placement of down . This makes cleaning and drying more problematic.So happy to have clean and sweet smelling cofounders on my bed now. Actually surprised at the quick turn around for my comforters. Would recommend others looking for an affordable way to clean bedding, without using dry cleaning. read more

Overall pricing and customer service was amazing. Very professional, and would come back again. 10/10. I did 30 lbs worth of laundry, and only had 5/6 items of clothing that didn't seem to clean or had excess detergent left on the clothing. Always prefer liquid over pods and conservative with the detergent since my clothes always seem prone to too much detergent ( see photos ) 10/10 come back and be specific! I came into needing some large bedding cleaned and I came in and met the owner who helped explain how their service works step by step. She made it super easy and was so friendly! I already left a review for Lumin Laundry last week. I'm simply trying to respond to a question that Yelp sent me and also to Kristina who said Lumin is an expensive place -- totally respect her feedback. Let's get my facts out properly. (1) I do NOT wash my clothes at Lumin because I have a clothes washer at home that works so I only use the clothes DRYERS at Lumin. Please keep that in mind as you read the rest of my note. Kristina -- I hear ya; many things are more expensive now. I absolutely hear you. I can only respond by saying these few items below. (2) I spent about $5 or less for 1 dryer at Lumin that took 1.5 large loads of wet, clean clothes. I don't have any idea [yet] what it costs to WASH at Lumin because I dont need that service at this time. Still, as a general rule "washing always costs more than drying" because it uses WATER. Water is more expensive these days all over the world. (3) I've gone to 7 unique laundry places within the last 13 years living in and around Shoreline. I AM WILLING TO PAY A BIT MORE [even though the cost of my DRYING clothes at Lumin is approximately same as the other places around town] to use LUMIN LAUNDRY because I don't have other inconveniences like I have had at other laundry places. For example, today, my husband went to another coin laundry place -- at that "ABC" Place the machines were eating the quarters but refused to turn on. Other examples: Have you ever needed to use a bathroom between loads? At other places you have to ask the nearest grocery store, restaurant or whatever store might still be open. At Lumin, my laundry card gets me into the bathroom. Further, If I forget my personal water bottle at home -- I can get standard water from the LUMIN water fountain or flavored water over at the tiny, non-alcoholic beverage bar. Lumin is a good place for us. We can read, rest, write thank you cards while we wait for our laundry to dry. We can sit in the noise cancellation booths; we can run next door and get our groceries as we wait for our clothes to get done. The location is good and customer service is great. I didn't find Lumin to be more expensive but I do respect your feelings and believe what you say is LEGIT from your standpoint. Growing up; we had 7 people in our family. I absolutely LOVED coming to this laundromat. I was able to wash and dry clothes in a little over an hour. The only time consuming thing was folding, and that was because I had quite large loads. The process of getting a new card to do laundry was very easy, I ran out of detergent and was able to get some from them, and when I needed bags to put my laundry in, they had ones I could take FOR FREE! Such a pleasant experience and I will absolutely be back again. read more

No prices displayed for each machine. I went in and found a medium machine easily. I located the card dispensing machine which requires $20 to be added to the card. Couldn't see any amount displayed for the medium load machine. Had to the get an attendant to show me how to start the machine and it cost double what I thought the load should cost and then she told me to go toward the back dryers to find the smallest machines there. Disgusting not to see any prices on the outside of the machines. Never want any more to do with this place. Reply to business comment: No -- I did not insist on using the grossly inflated priced machine for the tiny couple of items. The attended showed me how to start the machine and how to use my card on the sensor. Before I knew it the machine had been started and debited the $8 priced medium sized machine without my seeing how much the amount was going to cost for this machine. This is not a spite review as crudely suggested either. I can honestly say that the laundromat was cleaner than the couple other laundromats I've been to in the past. read more

I've been looking around for a laundry place that would be able to wash and fold my laundry. Tried a couple of places but I'm sticking with Lumin. The place FELT clean when I first stepped in, which could not be said of the other places I've been to. Dropped off my laundry, and was able to pick it up in a couple of days. The clothes and towels were neatly folded and also smelled great! Now it's even easier with pick up and drop off services. Had a minor hiccup where I thought Lumin lost one of my clothing. Arne and his staffed looked around, but couldn't locate it anywhere. They took full responsibility and reimbursed me for the cost, without a fuss! I found it a couple of weeks later, and notified Arne immediately out of shame. He was professional and courteous about the whole situation! read more

I was excited to see a nice laundry service open in our neighborhood, I always need a place to go to wash our large blankets. This place is very nice and clean. I've only been in twice so far but both times, the person working took the time to show me how everything works. Today, the woman who helped me was the owner and she was super friendly and showed me which size washer and dryer I should use for my blanket, she even saved me money because I was going to use a larger machine. The machines are all very clean and easy to use, the prices are reasonable and the machines wash and dry very quickly, my blanket dried in under 15 minutes, so not a hassle to just wait there. read more

3 stars. They close at 7:30 to come in but don't close until 9pm. I get there at 7:31 and I call at 7:30 and say I'm seconds away. They don't let me come in. It's irritating I try my hardest to make it in After work on time and after being a loyal customer. It's difficult making it on time after long hours working. I don't want to go to another laundry mat. I paid a lot of money on my Lumin card to use when I need it. Recommend keeping the doors open until 7:45 or 8pm. read more

I haven't been to a laundry mat but our rental units are out of service and repair time is unknown and our laundry was piling up. I searched Yelp and found the great reviews here so packed up my car and made the 25 min drive to Lumin. I was expecting to spend hours here but boy was a wrong. This place is so clean and efficient. I went to the counter at arrival for guidance and information. The attendant was so informative and helpful. He even offered to help set up the machines without getting a card if this was just a "onetime trip". I opted for the reloadable card because I am not sure how long we will be out of service, but also it would be nice to take my large comforters and blankets here to be washed. The card was so easy to load and no hidden or additional fees. The machines were simple to use after he gave me a tutorial. I am not joking when I say this but what would've been about 10 loads of laundry at my rental went into 4 machines and took me about 2 hours total of washing drying and folding. The folding took the longest! The washers are huge, efficient and fast- I was shocked! And the dryers were fantastic. I only had to dry about 20-35 mins and that was ranging from 2 sets of flannel sheets, large load of towels, and 1 large and 1 XL load of clothing. While the price is higher than expected I think it's very comparable to other places after looking at other laundry mats- I believe that's just the cost of things these days. Plus this place was spotless and welcoming with amazing customer service. I will definitely be back! Plus- they have a vending machine if you need any extra detergent, dryer sheets , stain removers, or bags- and they have sensitive skin options which I appreciate because I cannot handle the regular detergents due to skin allergies. read more

From start to finish - an amazing experience. Location: Right next to the Ballinger Thriftway. Lots of parking and they even have some designated spots for the laundromat. Ambiance: This place is bright and shiny! Super clean and new - I don't think I've ever been to a laundromat so clean. Very spacious and nice seating where you can sit and wait. Big table there with some magazines/newspapers etc. where you can also do some homework - whatever. Service: So I bought a HUGE mattress that does NOT fit in a normal washer. I had no idea what to do but found this place. I started by sending a question through yelp and they were prompt in answering my questions like how I would go about washing something that big. When I got there, a super nice lady helped me to understand how to use the washers. Found out she doesn't even work there - she was just super nice and helpful. Even offered her laundry detergent because I forgot mine. Kathleen - who actually works there - also so sweet and helpful. Walked me through the process of getting a card and putting money on it, and then helped me to know how much money I'd need to wash and dry it. She then walked me over and helped me with knowing where to insert the detergent, etc. etc. Wow. I am so impressed with the customer service. Oh and it was WAY faster than I thought it would be. It was 26min to wash and 15min to dry. The machine shows you how much time is required and left. The machines seem pretty techy but fairly intuitive. We have a washer and dryer, But! This place is space age modern with the best machines available anywhere! The business is beautifully designed. We brought all of our clothes and piles of bedding and takes less than 45 minutes for wash and then a quick 30 minute dry in state of the art machines. This place is clean clean clean! Ballinger Thriftway and Starbucks right here to get some shopping done and have a meal from the deli. And the bathrooms are gorgeous! Love this one of a kind place! read more

It's very, very expensive here. I have a family of 5 and can wash and dry in Mountlake Terrace for 40. The same amount of laundry has cost me 57 yo wash. I have not even started drying yet. I will say it's very clean, including the rest rooms. It operates by using a card so I can leave the quarters behind. read more

Wow. Forget what you think you know about laundromats. This place is on another level. Huge, spotless, state-of-the-art equipment of different capacities... I actually enjoyed doing laundry! I hadn't been in a laundromat for years. After a week in a hotel while on vacation, it was time to get some laundry done. Found Lumin via Yelp. It wasn't the closest to where we were staying, but definitely worth the drive. Believe all of the five star reviews. Spacious, very clean, extremely helpful staff. It's a bit pricey, but less than another laundromat I've used, that is not nearly as wonderful. They have different sized washers, so if you only have a small load, you do not have to pay for a big machine. On the other hand, the big machines were huge, and looked like they could easily handle a king sized comforter or a large area rug. A wash and fold service is also available. read more
