Me, I apparently only bought plates for 1 of our cars, 5 months ago. So I have been driving on expired tags. Plus we sold the other car. Can I transfer those already paid plates to the other car? Yep. Easy peasy. Very modest fee. I watched the employees as they helped other customers. When appropriate, they asked customers if they were registered to vote and if they wanted to be. I was surprised at the number who opt out of voting. All of us no matter what side of the political aisle we are on, should research facts and vote our convictions. The BMV makes it easy to register to vote, change your address on top of the usual stuff you can do at the BMV. Very competent employees and usually not too long of a wait.

There was a woman, who was pretty cranky, by the door making sure everyone wore a mask. It cost $27.25 and I brought extra documents just in case. I brought my birth certificate, SSN, car registration, and a recent pay stub along with my current license. I got a paper version and am suppose to get the real one in a few weeks.

This place is very, very, very busy. I went on a Wednesday at 11-something, and the place was…read morealready swimming with people. I walked in, grabbed a number, and I was already 20-people back. There were about 6 attendants, two of which were in training. So there was a guy just standing there looking over their shoulders (a dude that could have probably been the 7th attendant). The woman that took care of me was quick (not a trainee), personable, and no-nonsense. I was very pleased with how quickly she got me out of there once I finally got up to the front of the line. Overall probably better than Ann Arbor, but still quite the process. The hiring and training process seems to be lacking quite a bit. The woman that did help me told me about the process, and how it basically keeps the trained people from sticking around. I suppose being a government-run office has something to do with it - but sometimes I just wish that people could use their head and produce an acceptable "business". After all, I'm there to just hand over money. Why not make the process and painless and quick as possible?
