Went to Freemont Provisions and had high hopes of some amazing food, but it fell short of anything but great...it was okay. I ended up getting a spicy chicken sandwich with fries which was marked as a favorite on their menu. The chicken on the sandwich was dry and lacked flavor in my opinion. The fries were not good at all. The atmosphere and location however is great. The restaurant itself is really nice and clean and would be a chill spot for drinks and hanging with friends. They have a pool table, darts, and other games to play which was cool. The service was great and had no issues with the service. If you're a foodie, this probably isn't the spot to go to, but if you're looking for drinks and a good spot, this place is for you. read more

We stopped in here for dinner last week when we spent the night in Canon city. There's tons of seating inside (lots of bar seating, and tables), as well as a patio with outdoor seating. It was a nice night, so we opted to sit outside. Our server was great, came out with menus, and waters, then took our drink, and food order. I went with the Ahi Tuna taco - which was very generously portioned, full of tuna, avocado, pineapple, and a wasabi mayo. The taco shell was made from a puffed rice - I did not pick this up and eat it like a taco, but instead elected to eat it with a fork. Quite delicious. We tried the Tater Kegs, Nashville Hot Wings, and the Provisions Burger--all of which were delicious and served in large portion sizes. The Nashville Hot Wings delivered a satisfying kick, and were my favorite part of the meal. The ambiance exudes sports bar vibes. Our server was great when taking our order but we didn't see her any time after. When it came time to settle the bill, we waited about 10 minutes before flagging someone else down to help us out. This place is awful. Front door STILL has a disgusting amount of grime all over the frame and handles. We ordered the slider flight. 2 sliders a piece of 4 different flavors. Two were pretty good. Two were awful. The pulled pork was a soggy mess, with a small squirt of BBQ sauce on top. The buffalo chicken was a shitty little piece of breast, I think it was grilled but couldn't be sure, with a watered down thin coating of some kind of "red hot" sauce. $29 for 8 shitty little sliders crammed onto a tiny cutting board with NO sauces to accompany? We've gone two weekends in a row because they get all the football games. But once again, we leave disappointed. If it weren't for the games we can't get at home, we wouldn't have gone in. Oh no! What could improve? That's what yelp wrote when I gave this place one star. An improvement would be for them to go out of business and then ,a better place take over. I have eaten there three times and each time it was disgusting. My last experience was a couple weeks ago. The wife and I went in because there was nothing else open and we said let's give it one more try. I ordered a ribeye steak that the two of us were going to share and it cost $42. We ordered an appetizer of nachos and two side salads. I ordered a Caesar when my salad came. It was nothing but iceberg lettuce and Italian dressing. Our steak came out before our appetizer and the manager delivered our steak. We told him about the appetizer he said I'll look into it. Shortly, our waitress brought our appetizer of nachos, prior to her arriving at our table, I cut into the stake, I like a nice medium, but this steak was virtually raw with burnt edges. When our waitress reached for the steak she was still holding our nachos and somehow clipped the nachos with the plate sending the nachos all over me. There I was with nacho sticking to my shirt and most of them on the floor. She was so apologetic and an accident is an accident. I understand that. About 10 minutes later, she brought out our steak and it wasn't any better than the first one but we ate it. Our waitress told us they were going to comp us our meal then when she came back later, she said well we're not gonna comp the, meal because you ate the steak, I said fine. I'm going to yelp you guys. You don't tell someone you're gonna comp them and then take it away. Our waitress went to bat for us and said the manager wound comp us the stake but we had to pay for the salads and the nachos ,ridiculous. Another fact is the manager never never came to our table to apologize or ask us. If there was anything else he could do. He just sat at the bar playing on his phone. Came in on a Saturday evening in June and was seated outside immediately. I was a little confused on why this place was empty, like literally only five other tables with customers. To me the menu was big and had a wide variety of cuisines. For my entrée, I got the shaved brussels sprout salad. It was a good size and had a lot of bacon in it. I liked the chimichurri sauce, I got it for my side of fries. Weird I know but I really wanted to try the sauce so it worked. Overall pretty good, I believe I ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes and the serving was huge which is a pro in my book and I liked how it was all covered in gravy, though it could've gone with out the raw vegetable garnish I think it was sliced carrot and celery and I kinda just pushed it to the side. It didn't mix well with anything. We also got the artichoke dip which was super good as well but I'd prefer if it was in a bowl with sliced bread or toast instead of inside a bread bowl with raw veggies to dip. We went after doing the Royal Gorge Tour (highly recommend) We visited all the way from FL and we had a great experience (last year in Breckenridge was bad) When we arrived (4 pm) the place was empty, so we were lucky enough to sit anywhere and our host was very friendly and our waiter was awesome. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful inside and the food is delicious. We had a beer flight (coconut porter, omg) for appetizers we ordered the bbq wings with both dipping sauce, ranch and gorgonzola Cheese, the mozzarella bacon (the chimichurri sauce is extremely good) for entree we had the blackened chicken (super yummy) I hope you can come and enjoy this restaurant and their delicious food read more

I want to love this place, but after two visits, honestly for me it is just OK. The first time we went to FP, we went at happy hour to have a couple beers and an appetizer. We came in on a Friday at maybe 3:45p and there were three tables (including us) and what looked like 4 people working. I only bring this up because it was THE SLOWEST MOST INATTENTIVE service I have ever seen for so many workers vs. tables. We ordered the spinach artichoke dip and the server seemed disappointed we weren't ordering more....sorry, I guess. OK, so after like 30 minutes we FINALLY got lukewarm dip with two pieces of sourdough (small pieces) and 4 carrot "coins" and 1 piece of celery about 3-4 inches cut thinly into 4 pieces. Seriously, It was skimpy (picture shows the entire entree). I actually complained to my husband and the waitress must have heard me and "snuck more bread from the kitchen". Nice, I guess, but the service and food was lackluster. Figured it was just a one off bad experience, so we went back a couple months later. So, first thing to know about FP on the weekend is they have a brunch menu for breakfast & lunch. This is totally fine, but when you look at their website it has a pop up that directs you to a menu that never mentions brunch on the weekends. You actually have to go on the hunt to find it. So we were just surprised by the completely different menu. Whatever, we adapted, just know brunch for lunch is a weekend thing here. So, we order drinks. My husband asks for a diet Coke. When they bring it, the soda is flat. He asked our server if he could have another. When she came back she informs us it is not "flat" but natural soda and that is how it is. OK, for one nobody said it was natural soda and not diet Coke (the hubby is actually not a fan of natural soda and would not have ordered) and second, plenty of places in town have natural sodas and they are all carbonated...weird. So that is bad communication from the hostess who took the order and us, fine, moving on. Then I order the steak and eggs and it comes with toast. I ask for wheat toast, servers says ok. When it comes it comes with toasted baguette pieces and I am informed that is the toast it comes with, I can't have wheat. Again, fine, but why not say that when ordering! The food was good. It was breakfast and not hard to mess up. The steak was actually tender and the eggs were creamy and tasted great. Home fries where fine and I ended up getting ketchup to dress them up, which they must make themselves because it had a homemade taste look - and it was awesome. Anyway, I have been here twice and the food is ho-hum and the service is lacking in accurate and friendly communication. I know everyone is working with lean staffs, but twice I have been here when I see up to 4 people working there just chatting at the bar and the very few tables that have people are barely engaged. Everyone else has such great things to say, I wish I had their experiences, but I did not. It is a beautiful space. Pricey for Cañon, but the ingredients seem high quality. Maybe I will give it a try again in another few months, but not during brunch or happy hour! read more

The mushroom flat bread tasted good, I would refrain from adding a ton of arugula, esp of some are wilted. The grilled shrimp in a butter lettuce wrap hit the spot for me. The beat salad is good as well. The brussel sprout and flavorings of chicken chimichurri are on point, but the chicken itself was chewy. So we ended up not eating 3/4 of the chicken. Let me start by saying how awesome the staff are at this place. Warning us they are short staffed in the kitchen and the food may be a wait. But seated us outside quickly and tried to be as accommodating as possible. To be honest the food didn't take long at all so I was impressed . Great varied menu , nice wine list and cocktail list too, also has specials of the day. Got drinks ordered first but it did take a long time to get a sample of one wine, not sure why. I could tell our server was trying really hard to get everything right for our group of 6, so we didn't take advantage of that! We ordered a bunch of apps and shared as we love to do. The Mexican street corn was amazingly good, great spices and cheese sauce, on the cob so hard and messy to eat, but well worth it. The pretzel was different more like a sourdough roll, hard on outside and chewy inside, served with beer cheese. Not really what I was expecting. The bread basket had the featured Cuban bread, which was great, the menu said serves two, so we got 2 baskets but would have been fine with 1 as there was plenty in it! The Brussels sprouts, another winner, nicely roasted, big pieces, nice seasoning. The smothered fries, were great, cheese sauce. And chili we got on the side, as we had vegetarians on our table. Chili was very flavorful. Kinda smoky. Also had the half chicken bbq on a bed of veggies, wasn't really much bbq flavor, not my favorite. Veggies were good though. Dessert we tried the sticky toffee pudding, a British dessert! So not quite how I've had it in the past, a bit dry. But had good flavor, it had a crust and I'm use to more cakey.
