I will start off by saying it's such a cute place. The hotel is really nice and the restaurant reflects their classy vibe well. The staff is also very friendly and just made the lunch better with small talk. The food is pretty mediocre though. The gyros weren't bad just a little dry, but $21. The salmon salad was the issue, the lettuce was very wilted and even had a few rotten/slimy pieces. For $25 it's just annoying not getting quality ingredients.

Half my salad had not just wilted but borderline rotten greens.

Absolutely unacceptable salad. I got a salad to go that cost around $25 . It was mostly inedible due to rotten ( not just wilted) greens . Salmon was very overcooked and dry . How is even acceptable or allowed by food industry to serve such crap and charge for it. Disgusting. I'm actually pissed . I don't recommend this place.

I did not see any reviews for breakfast so I was worried what to expect. It turned out great. Food was plentiful and prices reasonable. Service was great. Beautiful dining room with a secret bookcase to a speakeasy.

First off, I'd give the ambience of the hotel and the remodel of this historic building a 12/10. What a nice gem they have restored and brought to the Canon City community and tourists alike. We loved everything about the hotel, the main lobby, the side bar, the restaurant and of course the bonus being the Speakeasy in the back! Living in Pueblo we have nothing that matches the vibe of this place and you feel like you're at an upscale restaurant in Denver, so if you're looking for that feel this is the place. We had drinks in the main bar before dinner and they were good. The bartender was very friendly and flexible with our orders. We then went to the restaurant for my birthday dinner. First off, the bread and butter they give you is top notch. I loveeeed the butter and the bread had everything seasoning on it and it was very fresh. We had to ask for another round! Salad came next which was also really good and fresh, and the balsamic dressing was tasty too. I ordered a filet that may have been a bit overdone for medium, but it was still good and the potatoes and asparagus were pretty good too. My husband had the prime rib and said it was an 8/10, so definitely pretty good too! Our table also had the salmon which was very good was well. I think the only negative was the slow service in the restaurant. The restaurant wasn't packed, and there seemed to be a lot of waitresses, however none of them were very attentive to our table, and we had to call them over a few times for assistance. Going to an upscale restaurant you expect the service to match the meal and the environment. Pro tip - walk through the bookshelf into the Speakeasy for a night cap. You won't regret it. Overall a really good spot and I highly recommend it for anyone living in the surrounding areas or tourists passing through! Well done Canon City.

This is wonderful place to enjoy a step back in time in a beautiful place. The remodel of this old hotel and restaurant is amazing! To start out...We Entered the bookcase to the speakeasy. It is a great place with wonderful drinks and a great feel in the war room. The service is great! In the restaurant was again not a disappointment at all. Our server was Tagean, she was great, very knowledgeable, efficient and friendly. We ordered the crab and spinach dip followed by the wedge salad. Final was the green chili pork. We enjoyed all. Very tasty. The surroundings of the old proctored of Canon City are great. All the details that are in the restaurant and speakeasy as spectacular. We highly recommend not only the restaurant but a stay at the St Cloud Hotel. It is worth a trip to this small city that allows for a wonderful experience.

Had a Mediterranean salad with chicken piccata and steak that was perfect. Finished off with a flourless chocolate tort. Everything was excellent. Then had a great alcoholic free drink after the meal in the speakeasy. Was really worth it.

Shocked. The place is 5 star completely. Had the bison steak and got to visit the hidden bar! Don't forget to ask about it !! Jeremy is the manager that will come around to visit at the end of your meal and one of an amazing place. We are world travelers and have been pleasantly shocked to find this place. Higher end with expectations exceeded. !! Thank you Tegan for great service and the hidden bar tour !!!

We live in the area and decided to stop by for breakfast one day. I loved the chicken and waffles, a very nice batter with a crunch on the chicken and a light sweetness to the waffles. This is a very unique experience in this beautiful hotel. I highly recommended ask for a tour of this historic hotel you won't be disappointed. Be sure to check out the pictures on the walls and visit the bar!

I saw this place on the map, read the reviews and gave a chance! We were not disappointed! The food was amazing. Everyone loved what they ordered. Our friend said the chicken sandwich was the best ever, my husband had the Butternut Squash Brussels salad and I had the mini Gyro Tacos. Complements to the chef! Definitely recommend. Service was great and friendly! Reasonably priced! Great ambiance.

Booked a Train Ride in February for my B-Day in April and called them prior to confirm. Inquired about food and thy said yes they have food Happy Endings Caboose which was also promoted in whatever ticket you purchased. Arrived for my B-Day and severely disappointed as I arrived 2hrs early drove down from Denver 2.5hr drive just to have a Breakfast Birthday and Train Ride to find out no Happy Endings Caboose is closed during weekday even though the listing says open to find out no they are not open and was never told also no mention on the Website. Why couldn't anybody say anything to the Customers that purchased tickets expecting maybe a bite to eat or drink before the train ride and want to experience the Restaurant instead no Breakfast/Brunch in Cañon City have to drive out of the City 30min away. Definitely a disappointing way to start my b-day thanks Royal Gorge wish you told me the Restaurant is closed because then I would have done something different instead of going to a gas station for a bag of chips and cancelling my trip. I'll go somewhere else that I can enjoy my B-Day and Breakfast/Brunch. Thanks a lot for ruining my B-Day I just wanted a simple relaxing day to myself to enjoy a nice breakfast and train ride before going to work tomorrow but nope you have made it suck again thanks a lot for nothing but a waste of time. Now they told me they are not refunding my money so I lost out not only the money but the pleasant experience on my B-Day worst day ever. I absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND ROYAL GORGE UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF AND DISAPPOINTED

I ended up getting a spicy chicken sandwich with fries which was marked as a favorite on their menu. The chicken on the sandwich was dry and lacked flavor in my opinion. The fries were not good at all. The atmosphere and location however is great. The restaurant itself is really nice and clean and would be a chill spot for drinks and hanging with friends. They have a pool table, darts, and other games to play which was cool. The service was great and had no issues with the service. If you're a foodie, this probably isn't the spot to go to, but if you're looking for drinks and a good spot, this place is for you.

The taco shell was made from a puffed rice - I did not pick this up and eat it like a taco, but instead elected to eat it with a fork. Quite delicious. My husband had the salmon bowl, which came with rice, avocado, and asparagus, which he said was really good. We will absolutely be back when in the area again!
