Why hasn't the town closed this place? Very disappointed that I didn't see the recent reviews before placing an order today, about a couple hours ago on DoorDash. DoorDash delivered food on time and the item missing was; 1. Lobster Roll - Large DoorDash gave me a quick credit for the missing item, thanks. The clam chowder was okay, not bad, I am sure that comes from the wholesale suppliers. Onion rings looked gross and didn't taste good, these were dull. Buffalo Fried Shrimp is okay but weren't tasty enough, didn't eat more than one! Lobster roll was missing, given the reviews here, I am certain they didn't send it. read more

EWWWWW! What!!??? Sorry! Walked in on a Friday night with my boyfriend. The older man at the counter was pretty unpleasant! Asked him for two lobster rolls and if they were any good..I think he let out a grunt. Not a good start. Walked into the dining room and it was absolutely filthy. Tables were not cleaned off..Floors covered in filth. I had to clean off my own table and wipe off my own seat. The inside of this establishment is equivalent to a blown out toilet bowl after a long night of tacos and margaritas. French's doesn't spend alot of time/money on fancy stuff (like paint for the exterior or ANY kind of inside decor beyond a few bare booths) but the food here is GREAT! The soups and fried seafood are terrific. Fish chowder is my fav, my dad raves over the old fashioned split pea and mom likes the french onion or corn chowder, all served in attractive styrofoam bowls. And with plenty of good oyster crackers. If you can get beyond the asthetics, this place ROCKS! UPDATE: 6/17/15 - OMG!! THEY PAINTED THE PLACE!! Note: This review is of their catering service only, I've never eaten from the restaurant. We used French's to cater our wedding, which was in a back yard and on a budget. When my wife and I initially met with them, it was great... we expected it to be difficult to get them to work with our budget, but she was very helpful and presented us with many more options than we thought we'd have. So they made the planning a pretty stress-free experience, thankfully. We ended up using their "pasta bar" as the main course, which consisted of two very large trays of tortellini (enough for over 100 people), one with red sauce, and one with white. Then there were various add-ons that the chef's would sautee right then and there to add into your pasta. It was great, and everyone at the reception loved it. The pasta itself was absolutely delicious... I would've had seconds if I wasn't so busy doing eveyrthing else the groom is doing at a wedding. In addition to the pasta bar, we got a couple of trays of spinach pie which were also amazing. My aunt makes the best spinach pie I've ever tasted, and I've even had it from more than five areas of Greece... and French's spinach pie is easily the second best I've ever had. We had salad, fruit, and coffee as well and all were good as expected. So I would definitely recommend French's for catering any wedding or event. I'll have to try the restaurant some time... hopefully I can get some more of that spinach pie! read more

First time stopping in yesterday. First, our food was good. Second, the building condition is not up to my standards. I'll explain, needs paint, new siding, new carpet, new bathroom and a thorough deep cleaning. On my way to the bathroom I could see that they had all the serve safe items (bleach, sanitizers, etc) on shelves and I felt that the food was most likely handled properly but geez, clean up the place. i dated this guy in high school who lived across the street from french's. it was really run down and dilapidated. in an old barn in the yard, there was this wicked deep hole. it was probably a well at some point but was just an open hole at this point. for years, the ex and his 4 little brothers would pour stuff down there ie gasoline, beer, urine, sunny d etc. one day the littlest kid threw a match down there. and it exploded. the whole barn blew to smithereens. it was crazy. and the little brother? he was fine. lost his eyebrows, eyelashes and arm hair. but that was it. but he was scared out of his mind- of course. so to make him feel better, we brought him to french's. he got a grilled cheese with chips and a moxie. and stopped crying. so french's gets 3 stars in my book. read more

I will never go back to a place where they are rude for no reason. The soup is probably poured out of a bag, and I will find it elsewhere. I ordered a sandwich today, and I walked in (Saturday, mid-day) and said "Hi I called in an order?" Blank stare from the woman behind the counter. She went to get someone else, I repeated myself, Blank Stare... he gets an old man from the back: "Can I help you?" "Yes, hi, I called in an order?" I was smiling!!! He just stares... then says NAME? I say my name, and he turns and grabs the bag. He says "There is not much to this you know! and we have catering here!" I just said "how much is it?" and he says "Well I have to ring it in!" Then I paid in cash-- still not being a problem customer... and as I'm walking out the door I heard him say "Straaaange people..." I would never in a million years place a catering order with a jerk like that-- and I would use much stronger language if I thought it wouldn't be deleted here. When I got home, I was still upset and decided to call and tell him that I heard what he said -- and his response was "Good!" If he is not the manager, he should be fired. We booked French's for a catering event, my aunts collation after her funeral. The staff was professional and the food was delicious! We ordered chicken parm, lasagna, chicken penne with broccoli, salad, pasta salad, rolls with meat and cheese trays for sandwiches, a large fruit platter and even coffee. French's provided all the silverware, napkins, plates, cups, and all the little detail items you don't tend to think about when planning a last minute event like this. We contacted Dave about catering our wedding in October and we have nothing but WONDERFUL things to say! We had a group of fifty for the wedding, discussed what we wanted with Dave, and left the rest up to him. The staff was there on time, pleasant and friendly, and even packed up any leftovers so that we could take them home. The food was incredible! Our guests are still talking about it! We wanted something different than the standard plated wedding meal and we were able to build our menu with Dave. The catering menu is huge! If you want something just ask! Everything was set and ready to go as our guests entered the reception hall. When we met with Dave we had lots of questions - he answered every question and then looked at us and said "this is your day - sit back and enjoy it" That is exactly what we did! read more

Frenches catering just did our wedding for 130 people on October 8 2016. It was amazing. Not only did they not have a kitchen to prep in but it was also a good distance away from their location and the food still was amazing. Everything was hot and fresh. The staff was very professional on point and very nice. The hors d'oeuvres were a great size per piece and tasted amazing. We did a buffet style serving which they took of coming around to each table to let them know when to go up. Every person at our wedding talked about how good the food was!! Do not let the style of their location deter you from talking to Phil and David as this was the best choice ever! The Soups are to die for I usually get there Loaded Baked Potato or the Steak Bomb but the girl at the counter sold me on trying there new Stuffed Pepper and OMG was she right on it was delicious... I also love there Hot and Honey Tender Salads again to die for... I was not happy with French's service or food when the food was delivered! They were recommended to me! I ordered all my food for an anniversary party! When the food was delivered I was told I did not order enough chafers! The person that took my order just asked if I needed them and I told him yes! The lettuce in the salad was rusty! The meatballs and sauce was very disappointing! I did call the next day and told them they were awful! Over cooked on the outside and were frozen not homemade! When I returned the chafers I did let them know I did not have enough chafers and they did confirm that they made mistake on how many were needed! So one dish hot dish was cold! Again I spoke to them about the meatballs and the response was NO WAY! If you ask my guests they would disagree with French's! I learnt a big lesson! I love French's especially a good old fashioned grilled cheese with soup. I'm hooked on the French onion. They do have good salads, soup and sandwiches for the price. My co-workers and I go a few times a week. We love to get take-out. But I agree with the review that the place seems dirty inside the restaurant area so we don't care to eat there.
