We're always on the hunt for somewhere to try that we haven't been before. When our personal…read moretrainer recommended Tradewinds in Maroubra, we were keen to try, given that it's also local for us. We are surprised that we hadn't been before. The restaurant can easily be found on Maroubra road with ample parking around. Whilst the restaurant is quite large, and can accomodate couples, families and groups, we recommend booking to guarantee a table. One of the best things about the restaurant is that the staff are just so darn nice. They all appear to love their job, be eager to help and offer suggestions as to what to order. We felt welcome and appreciated the quality service. Furthermore, the service was efficient, with food being delivered in good timing. Food wise, Tradewinds is a modern restaurant / bistro in Maroubra specialising in hearty food; meats on the grill, burgers, pastas, pizzas, salads and plenty of specials with influences from around the world. They have a good range of meats and we absolutely loved their smoked ribs, basted in a delicious - sauce. We ordered the pork ribs on one occasion and the meat platter on another. The meat platter also comes with steak, lamb souvlaki pieces and some of their tasty beer battered steakhouse fries. We also the flash fried salt and pepper calamari, served with fresh rocket and creamy aioli. The kofta special was also delicious; the kofta served with pita, fries and salad. Tradewinds also does plenty of desserts, tea and coffee as well as brunch on weekends. The restaurant suits all demographics - young and old and perfect for any sort of catch up. We recommend trying out this family owned business for the food is great, portions are generous and service is excellent.

Inferno is a licensed venue offering a great range of alcoholic beverages to accompany your meal including a good range of beer, which is perfect when smashing or trying to smash one of their burgers. The menu supplying a magnitude of choice whith crazy burgers, loaded shakes, gelato, salads and as the name suggests items from the grill including steak, chicken and fish. The burgers here are huge, make sure you bring your appetite. The lord of the fries was a monstorous stack made of some mouthwatering slow cooked pulled beef marinated in a southern style smokey BBQ sauce, with some thick cut chips and a solid serve of melted cheese. This was ordered as a combo and came with a side of their thick cut chips, some of the best we have had. The chicken burgers are some of the best going around with a favourites being the clucking pig a fried chicken boheimeth and the honey badger, a tasty grilled chicken burger assembled with slaw and a flavoursome honey mustard sauce. We also shared a salad: brown rice with corn kernels and sun dried tomato a good option if you are after something healthy to eat. We could not go past their loaded shakes with the Caramello Koala granbing our attention. Being a fan of the chocolate, this shake was a must and did not disappoint. As mentioned, the servings are very generous and this shake could be considered a meal in itself. We thank inferno for their hospitality and for their vision in creating some solid burgers shakes.

I came here for the burgers, and there's a custom Fatties Burger Appreciation Society list as long as your arm with all kinds of wild stuff (the Boss Hogg has crumbed mozzarella) but I tried their most famous creation, The Clucking Pig. The thing that stands out at this place is the quality of ingredients, and the care put into making each dish. The fried chicken was HUGE, like brontosaurus size, and piping hot with lovely crisp skin. The crunchy slaw, the aoili, the chilli sauce. Lots of thought has gone into this, and the result is astonishing. The owner Anthony stopped by out table for a chat. This is a guy that genuinely cares about his customers, and he's crafted a one-stop family place that has something for everyone, from the fresh salads to the sticky glazed pork ribs to the char-grilled BBQ chicken. Everything looks sumptuous, everything's crazy fresh, and the prices are amazing. In your face, $20 gastropub burgers that I could have made at home. Oh and beers and ciders are $5. Yup. Oh, and he makes his own gelato, the kind that has crumbled up Crunchies on top. A proper Rennaissance man. I hear he used to be a banker. Special shout-out to the home-made chilli sauce. Spin me around and call me Mary, I would drink a cup of this stuff. Don't dare me, I'LL DO IT. In the interests of full disclosure: a colleague was introducing me to this place and my burger was comped.

Our cheerful waiter took our orders with gusto and kids dinners came with our entrees as promised. The food was standard Italian fare, competently prepared (although always salty.) Things went downhill when our mains failed to arrive after frequent requests as to what was happening with them. They finally arrived for some but not all of our group and then a further delay to the last diners. These were not complicated dishes we were waiting for- spaghetti dishes mostly, so no excuse there. One of our group had ordered a side dish. It simply never came. The waiter was totally unapologetic. No regrets, no offer to reduce the bill, no bread to keep hunger at bay or wine to soothe us! If you want to eat in a noisy, hot, crowded food factory with ungracious staff and poor order management, you will love this place.

They also have a beautiful range of blackboard specials on top of everything else. If you're looking for a slice of Italy, you can get it here. It's interior design is also something to commemorate. The restaurant is medium sized, proving to be cramped on busy holidays, although looked over easily. From anywhere in the restaurant you can watch pizza be prepared and baked in an open kitchen. It's a stunning layout. My only regret is eating the food too quickly to take a photo of it.

They've been in the business for over 30 years. Beginning in the 1970'z, they offered alternatives to the regular cheese and tomato options, they soon became popular with their creative flavour combinations. They've have continued to grow, and now have stores in a number of locations: Randwick, Paddington and now also Bexley, Maroubra, Glebe and Rosebery. Arthur's stores have a family atmosphere and super casual which makes it a comfortable place to socialise. That, in combination with reasonable prices makes for a good eat in or takeaway option. We visited in a group so were able to sample a variety of things from the menu including entrees, pizza, pasta and salads. Entree wise we ate the saucy meatballs and garlic prawns - these were cooked and served in thick tomato type sauce so a lot of the flavour was retained. Pizzas come in different sizes; small, medium, large and family. There's plenty of flavour combinations, but you can pay a little extra if you want any additions. There's also Gluten free options. We had the following pizzas - all really good choices! Campollo: Chicken Fillet, Semi-Dried Tomato, Red Onion, Camembert, Basil Sassri: Lamb Fillets, Fetta Cheese, Red Onions, Sweet Potato, Mint Nitro: Pepperoni, Onions, Capsicum, Bacon, Chilli In addition, we enjoyed the creamy Bosciola pasta with bacon and mushroom and well as the super flavour some mushroom risotto. With so many delicious carbs, we needed some salads to balance out or lunch and we tried the Greek salad and also a lovely rocket and Parmesan one too. By the end of this we were super food but did a great job finishing it off. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, but if you're not, Nutella pizza or tiramisu would be my pick!

We were told that on Sundays, they made other poke bowls which weren't on the menu. It sounded like they were using their leftover ingredients to put together what they could. We chose 1 of the 2 bowls that was available, and then told that this was actually not available either as what was left was needed for an existing order. Service was poor. Staff were disorganised - there were 2 waitresses behind the counter and one told us that she could describe the food to us but couldn't actually take our order - for some unknown reason only 1 staff could do this. We ordered some poke and vegetables which were on display at the counter. It took them 15 mins to put on a plate (there were only 6 guests in the cafe and some were eating when we came in). It turns out they had forgotten about our order. A staff approached us and asked if we had ordered yet. While we were eating, I heard the staff shout out to eachother in the kitchen describing what ingredients they had and working out a poke bowl combination to put together - supporting my theory that they were using leftovers.
