In this stage of date farming I learned about how the dates become the sweet fruit that we all enjoy. Didn't know the owner just comes out of the bungalow to sell the dates which are on a table outside. There's a wide selection of different kinds of dates, and you can sample them. They had about 6 types, and you can buy boxes with a variety or smaller bags. The medjool ones are quite big. You can walk around the farm with all the palm trees. There are some citrus trees here with lemons, but those aren't supposed to be for sale. read more

This is by far the best date farm we've been to so far. Just the drive to it is magical: Thermal is populated with so many date farms as far as the eye can see. The staff here are so helpful and caring. It got somewhat busy when we arrived and staff was eager to please and drive the tractor out just to replenish samples. Highly recommend. read more

There was a really nice person named Janice there and a perfect dog named Ohtani. The land was beautiful with a reservoir filled with wildlife. We've been living in the desert for almost 6 years. Have tried dates all over Coachella and Anderson by far have the best with good prices also. The person we always see there is Janice. Knowledgeable about her product and extremely friendly. I noticed some complaints about Anderson Farms on some other reviews. Those people were lost and not at Andersons!!!!!! Example: One day we drove a couple of visitors from Orange County so they could buy some dates. Unfortunately, they had just closed. Janice was driving down the road and saw us pull in. She turned around and came back to the farm and opened up the shed. Our friends were able to buy some dates and were extremely happy. FYI - I buy dates a few times during the season. I got into the habit of buying some towards the end of the season to FREEZE. That's right you can freeze the Medjool. I take them out of the freezer on a regular basis. You cannot tell the difference. Great way to extend the season. All I can say is ........Thanks for the dates! Rick read more

We purchased two boxes of the 11 lbs Mejdool dates and 3 boxes of the 5 lbs Mejdool dates. The 5 lbs size boxes were in fresh and in perfect condition; however, the 11lbs size date were a total disappointment. The boxes contained three qualities of dates; the top layer were fresh and from this years harvest; the other two third were dry or last year harvest. For those who go to these farms know, one can freeze these dates and can last over a year and taste as fresh as the current harvest. The price for the 5 lbs was $25 and the 11 lbs was $35; all were presented as similar quality; they were not. We travel over 90 miles from San Diego or Temecula to get fresh and current harvest; we are willing to pay the price, but, not to be cheated in such a manor; we have been buying from Anderson for over 30 years, but, never expected such unethical treatment! If we were living close to Indio, we would have returned this 11lbs boxes. Price them by quality, but, don't mix and present the fresh dates at the top. This is unethical behavior. We give 5 stars for the 5 lbs and 0 star rating for the 11 lbs size box. read more

That was my second time going to this farm, I had a good impression the first time and that's why I went back there,however this time was very different. We have rented a bus were I took a lot of my friends and family, we try to take some of the yellow dates that's when all hell broke loss, the owner came over and started pushing us around saying that she promised it to someone else which I can understand, however the rude behavior and the unprofessionalism that happened that day was the most unexpected treatment that I had to face all my life and on top of that I had to find out that some of the date that we bought that day was not the same weight that we paid for, so in many ways passable I wasn't satisfied and thought that was the worst treatment that a costumer could ever have in a place that he spent money at. read more

Drove for over an hour to get to this place but Next time, it would be better to find another place to buy dates from because they are so unprofessional, rude people to deal with. You don't feel welcome being there because they don't treat people nicely which is bad. read more

I stopped by this afternoon.................new resident here from the Pacific NW. and, i have been watching the date maturation process since March............ i have been reading about this farm on-line, both negative and positive comments, but i went anyways and so glad i did. Leslie assisted me....................her grandfather started the business. what a find she is..................she took the time to explain the varieties and put together a box of many types and explained the differences to me. i have already sampled many, and they are all unique and delicious. i will be going back to buy more! Wow! These people are awesome. Contrary to the previous post, we found this place so easily! Drove up from San Diego and they were definitely worth it.. Delicious fresh yellow dates and brown dates. So fresh and hearty! Honestly the sweetest I've ever had. Brought them back to share with family and friends and made sure to brag about the Anderson farm! People were great to work with and Hollie was seriously awesome. We even forgot a box up there and she happily mailed it down to us free of charge. I highly highly recommend this as a place to visit! I ordered yellow barhi dates. I never received a shipping notification, so I called and asked what was up with my order. They said it would be shipped out the following week (...ok?) I waited for the whole next week, called again (now two weeks since order) and they STILL have not arrived! I called back and the lady said "we will refund your order and send send you confirmation that you've been refunded and see if we can send a complimentary box" well, I'm still waiting for the refund, and the complimentary box, and now they won't answer my phone calls. I think I just got scammed. Don't trust these guys read more
