I love the amazing presentation across all items I've seen -- many times exceeding what I've ever seen at weddings. They also provide wonderful cards with descriptions and dietary indicators that look great and are very informative. What really stands out here though is the food quality. All the fruits and vegetables I've had, whether it be in a fruit tray, salad, grilled veggies, etc. are top notch. Generally I won't go towards fresh produce when given other options, but Pear Tree has won me over with their absolutely delicious items. Even items such as breadsticks and crackers with a mix of cheese are absolutely delicious, where the commitment to sourcing quality ingredients is evident with every bite. Salads are also incredibly good here, with fresh greens that are nice and crisp and nice juicy tomatoes and other items like cheese, nuts, fruits, etc. that once again show their commitment to top notch ingredients. Overall, I'm glad that we do so much corporate catering with Pear Tree Catering. Employees are genuinely excited every time they bring in delicious food to the office, as they are consistently excellent across the board with all their offerings

We were originally working with Hels for a 200 person wedding that was to happen 9/26/2020. Well as we all know, that changed due to COVID and while it could have been awful in deciding what we wanted to do, Hels and all of our vendors made us feel so confident in our new plan: 50 people in our backyard. After planning and re-planning and having 3 back up plans just in case, not a beat was missed by Linda and her team. Not only did I have full confidence in them working with our coordinator I had full confidence in stepping back as a bride and just letting them do what they are great at - catering. Our guests are still talking about the food - and that is NOT typical for a wedding. Truly, some of the best food many of us have ever had. From appetizers, to service to plated meals of chicken & steak - Hels is the choice you should make for your next event (big, small or anywhere in between). It's not easy having strangers in your home, but at the end of the day Hels was like family & we are excited to hire them over and over again for any events we plan!

I would absolutely recommend them, I'm thrilled they are here in Northbrook. As for the food, taste is so subjective and it is hard to please all the people with every dish. Everyone thought the Thai chicken skewers with peanut sauce were delicious. The Mediterranean chicken was also very good (loved the artichokes). The sweet potato mini pancakes were also a hit. The Tangine vegetables were too bland. I like more flavor, spices. To their credit, they use very little salt. The bourbon chicken skewers went untouched. The Jerusalem salad desperately needed dressing, it was also untouched (but of good quality). Having them cater saved us days of time preparing and cooking, it was well worth the money. They are super organized and, as I mentioned above, great people to do business with. We'll certainly try them again now that we know what we like.

Who would have thought a year later we would still be uncomfortable dining indoors. There's been a few silver linings during this pandemic and Mr. Hibachi Catering is one of them because hibachi in the comfort of our own garage was way more fun than any past dinners at Ron of Japan. We kept it covid safe and invited just my sister-in-law and her family. 4 of us adults and our 5 kids ranging in ages from 3-10 years old. It was so delicious and so fun for the kids that my sister-in-law and I have decided Mr. Hibachi Catering will be our go to for every future holiday. Passover with Mr. Hibachi! Thanksgiving with Mr. Hibachi! Basically we're up for any excuse to hire Mr. Hibachi! We learned that there's actually 4 Mr. Hibachis and the one who came to our house (with his trusty sidekick) was not only an amazing cook, but also had lots of fun tricks to entertain the kids. We ordered everything from chicken to lobster to shrimp to steak...and it was all so tasty! I considered adding a sushi boat to our order, but held off...which was a good call since it was a ton of food. They bring everything: food, tables, plates, silverware etc. All we had to supply was beverages and guests...and (of course) bday cake. It's also super easy to book online and they respond very fast to all email inquiries. It's been 3 days and my kids and husband have mentioned at least a dozen times about how much fun the bday dinner was...thank you Mr. Hibachi! We had an incredible personal chef for a few years who dropped off food 4 nights/week and then she moved away on us. Since she moved we've tried a few personal chefs and all were just OK, but think we finally found our new chef ever since finding Amy/Bistro in Motion a few months ago. All the personal chefs seem to have a different process and while I'd love the nightly drop off like we've had in the past, I haven't really been able to find that again. Amy's process is to make 5 different meals with 4 servings of each meal. She packages 2 servings together for us based on our preferences, but is open to however you want it packaged. We put a few days worth in the fridge (usually start w/ the seafood to eat fresh) and then freeze the rest. I was worried about how the frozen food would taste, but have been pleasantly surprised after defrosting it. As for the meal planning she starts off with suggesting a menu and then we make changes based on our preferences. Here's an example her proposed menu (i switched out the shepard's pie and pork tenderloin for tacos and steak): Moroccan Mint Rice With Spiced Chicken Skewers Irish-Style Shepherd's Pie Italian Fish Stew Spice-Rubbed Mango-Glazed Pork Tenderloin Roasted Vegetable Mexican Lasagna I think at this point I've tried a dozen different meals and have loved 95% of them. She also checks in regularly on what we like, didn't like, portion sizes etc...and the food seems to get better and better because of this. The service itself is $300 + the cost of groceries and all the food lasts us about 2-3 weeks. It's been so nice to have tasty gourmet food at our fingertips and even my extremely picky children can't get enough of some of her meals - their favorites include tacos, steak and parmesan garlic chicken tenders. On top of delicious dinners, which also work great for leftovers at lunch, she's dropped off some dessert treats and breakfast items (ex: healthy muffins). Highly recommend for any family who doesn't have the skills (or desire) to cook!

Brian arrived promptly at 5:30pm as agreed, and over the ensuing five hours, he whipped up a wicked four course meal while we sat back and enjoyed the show. Blackened shrimp with Creole remoloude...finger lickin' good. Jumbo lump crab cake with spiced Dijon lemon vinaigrette...heavenly. Seared baby lamb chops with mascarpone mashed potatoes and rosemary butter cream sauce...saliva inducing. Dark chocolate molten cake with quad berry sauce and lemon vanilla whipped cream...it's so fluffy I'm gonna die! In addition to his ridiculously tasty food, Brian's personality is electric. Talking to a stranger for five hours in your home would normally be awkward, but not with Brian. He had us rolling on the floor laughing with stories from his crazy life and cooking for A-list actors and athletes. He was also very inclusive of us in his cooking...explaining what he was doing all along the way and asking us to taste this and that at each stage of the meal's preparation. We highly recommend Brian for all your cooking and entertaining needs!
