I often crave fried fish. Well this spot satisfies that craving. Their menu is basic but exactly what you need from a "seafood spot". A divey place that serves great seafood in South Philly. This hole in a wall is close to my gym, so I usually stop in here to get some high protein seafood kebobs before my work out. I've never tried any of the other items because I'm trying to avoid fry food, but the grilled items are fabulous. Service is expedient and perfunctory. The lovely quiet ladies helming the joint are exceedingly kind, quick and gracious. Prices are quite reasonable considering the amount of food and its quality and freshness. But that food though ... Bountiful, fresh and duh-licious. My Dungeness and steamed shrimp came in a ginormous aluminum platter with fresh potatoes, broccoli and corn on the cob--everything seasoned to perfection at just the right temperature. I ordered the Whiting Fish sandwich, fries and coleslaw. Sadly, I was disappointed with this meal. The fish was overcooked, dry and didn't taste fresh at all. I suspect the fish was frozen. The fish also lacked any type of seasoning. The fries were bad too. No seasoning and they tasted old/stale. They definitely weren't fresh either. How do you mess up fries? The coleslaw was warm (yes warm), which gave me pause. I tasted a bit and threw it out immediately. The warm temperature and bland flavor did it for me. I also didn't want to get sick.
