After 3 years, we finally made it back to this place. This is a seafood market but they will prepare your food. We got a 2.6-lb lobster. It was delicious as ever. The hardest part is waiting for a table to open up so we can devour this lobster. Yummy.

While there are many varied and interesting vendors at Reading Terminal, John Yi is the single reason biggest reason I go to this vibrant market. My wife and I each get 3 lb lobsters which are steamed and scored/cut. If you've ever wished lobster was as easy to eat as a sandwich or chicken nugget - this it it. The lobster is cut so the meat just pops out. The lobsters go from tank to plate in about 15 minutes. It is delicious. The staff was helpful and attentive. Enjoy, I did.

I walked around after eating looking for the place where many of my wonderful fellow Yelpers marveled about. I wondered aimlessly from one fish place to another before I finally found this place. At each stop, I'd look at their fillets, the eyes of the fishes and smell the place. If I can smell you, I'm otta here. As I mentioned, I finally came here and looked at the fillets. Oooohhh, nice and moist with a very nice sheen to them. "Look deeply into my eyes!" Oooooooo, clear! Very nice and healthy. Red eyes indicate the fish didn't suffer trauma when dying. Sssssssnnnnnnniiiiffffffff, hmmmmm, no smell. Score! Took a look at where I was checked in at Yelp and realized I'm standing at The Famous Johnny Yi's fish. Eureka, I found it! Thank you my fellow Yelpers. You were right. They do have the best fish! And now I have some squid!!!!! Score!!!!

Since I'm a huge fan of this market I always make sure to stop here while in Philly. I was happy eating my fried mac & cheese ball when my boyfriend noticed someone eating a lobster. We were both intrigue by it and right away asked them where they got it. They pointed us to John Yi Fish, he made his way there and got us one. The lobster are $11.99 a lb, he asked for a small one that came out to $20. The lobster was delicious and really fresh if it wasn't that we live so far I would have brought some home with me.

Want the freshest, most beautiful, sustainably sourced fish in Philly? Definitely go to the John Yi Fish Market in Reading Terminal! I had to do some last minute shopping on a Sunday morning for a Dinner party that night and I ended up with the most beautiful Organic King Salmon fillets I could have imagined! I was happy & my client was thrilled! I'll definitely be back.

Great selection of fish, but slightly disappointed (hence the 1 star down) that they only have salmon and tuna for sushi grade. Technically they also have tilapia, but who wants tilapia in their sushi? That being said, the sushi-grade tuna and salmon are wonderful. The best deal here is by far and away the $4.99/lb chilean sea bass chunks, which are PERFECT for ceviche. The guys behind the counter are very nice and helpful. They answer all of your questions and don't mind you being indecisive. They also remembered who I was and what I got 10 days before. Great place!

We got a whole steamed lobster with butter & lemon. It was delicious! $43 for 2.5 lb lobster. Don't forget to grab a paper mat to put down on your table!

My favorite fish market in the terminal. Extra fresh...and their crab claws are loaded with flavor I stop there every time!

This is hands down my favorite fish market in the city, and most definetly the best one inside the reading terminal.

Having spent most of my life here, a few familiar joys always come to mind. Now, I'll admit--shopping for fish wouldn't usually make that list. But Giuseppe's Market inside Samuels & Son has changed that entirely. This place is an absolute standout. The seafood selection is unmatched--ultra-fresh, incredibly diverse, and always beautifully displayed. But even more impressive than the product is the people. The team behind the counter is among the most professional, accommodating, knowledgeable, and all-around kind folks you'll ever encounter in a market. They're the kind of people who take pride in what they do and make you feel genuinely welcome every time you stop by. If you're not already shopping at Giuseppe's, let me just say--you're missing out. It's a hidden gem tucked inside a working seafood distribution hub, and it deserves your appreciation. John, the manager, is a master of hospitality and seems to make instant friends with just about everyone. The rest of the crew? Just as fantastic. Three words: Buy. Fish. Here. You'll be glad you did.

Also picked up smoked salmon to try. I have not tried the smoked salmon yet, but I did like the onigiri, but was slightly disappointed. I liked the fact that the filling was placed throughout the rice (instead of traditionally placing in the center only); however, I felt it lacked in flavour and did not taste too much lobster. Also felt $8 for this onigiri was a bit steep. I would like to go back and try other onigiri and also buy some sushi grade tuna and salmon. I am still giving this place 4 stars because I know the quality is good, and until I taste other onigiri I don't want to be too hasty in giving them lower stars.

The tuna texture was smooth and had the right amount of firmness. Best of all, not a hint of fishiness. I ordered from a different online company for sushi grade tuna and salmon before and the quality was just okay. I am glad I won't need to do that anymore because I will be going here from now on. AND the price point is very reasonable here for what you're getting. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to make sushi/poke at home!
