Finally got a chance to drop in and try H4D Diner & Jerky ... a real hotspot for burgers out here…read moreby Sheppard AFB. My coworkers have been eating lunch here (via takeout) almost daily for a few weeks now. Located at 4320 Burkburnett Rd, directly next door to the Missile Club. Today's special was the Garlic Desperado Burger, with a side and tea for $12. I went with that as my first choice, as like many others, I love Garlic!! I opted for the Onion Rings and an extra side of Potato Salad. My second choice, to take home for later, was definitely the Oklahoma Onion Burger, along with Tator Tots and an extra side of Cole Slaw. The wait for the food was not long, as only a handful of us were here. I've heard while they're slammed at lunch they're able to keep up quite well. The Garlic Burger arrives on Texas Garlic Toast, first bite is a true kick of Garlic overload, and delicious! The meat is a 'smashed' 6oz patty and has a great flavor. I had both my burgers done with double meat and double cheese. The Onion Rings were done just right. I have always been very picky about Potato Salad, and this version is just right, reminded me of my Mom's. The Onion Burger is a real treat, especially if you're familiar with what is known as an "Oklahoma" Onion Burger. Upon placement this one looked better than any I've had in OKC or Reno. Once I got a bite in it, it just melted on my buds and was perfection. Tots are tots, hard to mess those up. Another tastebud treat on this visit was the Cole Slaw. In the last 60-ish years of my life, I have not been a Cole Slaw fan at all. Guess the "tries" over the lifetime I got the shitty ones. Just the last year or two I've been braving the attempts to taste it anew. The recipe here is spot on. I find myself thinking I could make a meal out of big bowl of this one. The atmosphere here is great, very clean, and Grace was a real joy as she kept checking on me. The owners, Ricky & Kimberly have done a great job. I have some fond memories of this building from back in our high school years when Ray Ono's family had a Pizza joint we frequented here. Will absolutely be returning.

The meat had taste and was made to order, there was a small wait as I went at lunch hour but they were still quick based on the 8 people in front of me. Ill be coming back for another special on another day.

This is common in some parts of Texas. Friendly service on both sides, but I chose to join the adults for a giant mug of beer to chase some whisky shots with warm chatty patrons. Food on the Tex-Mex platter was plenty and very satisfying.

From the inside, still looks like any other small diner in a strip mall setting. The tables are either booths or wooden tables with wooden chairs. There are TVs lining the walls and some booth have TVs at them as well. Every one if tuned to sports. The ceilings are high and the vibe is sports bar meets middle of nowhere, local hangout. The place was very busy for 7:30 on a Friday night and the atmosphere is uber casual. Greeted by a seat yourself sign, we found a table in the front corner, by the window, and waited for our server. Within a few minutes we were waited on and given our drinks. First place in a long time that carries Coke products and offered diet Dr Pepper- good start. We order onion rings as an appetizer and I got the soft taco basket while hubby got the crunchy taco basket for dinner. We hopped up shortly after we ordered and moved to an empty table a few feet away because the AC in the area we were sitting was unbearable. Way too windy and way too cold. Found our new seat to be better from a warmth standpoint. Onion rings came out and while there were only 6 in the basket, they were huge and cooked to a nice golden color. Unfortunately, they were a little bland, but with some salt and ranch, not too bad. My soft tacos were delivered open face on a large plate. Interesting presentation for sure. There were 3 and each came with ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. I ordered sour cream on the side and am happy to say, they were delicious. I only ate 2 of the 3 so proportionally they were a very good offering. Hubby's order included 4 crunchy tacos, same fillings- except no tomatoes for him- and I took a small bite to taste the shell. No complaints from either of us. Our server was really sweet and other than a slight delay between getting our drinks and ordering dinner, service was fast and efficient. Dinner cost about $45 in total- with tip- so not too bad for a quick stop in a little town. Hope you enjoy
