My go to stores now are aldis and save-a-lot. I tend to shop this store rather than another market in the area when I need a variety of items quickly. It's not as packed as others and I like that's it's convenient to get to and open till 10pm Grab a cart and when you walk in you will find bins of the produce that they have on special .. which is what I go here for. I feel their veggies and fruits are fresher than the other smaller grocery in the area. They have a nice deli too with Boars Head options. Variety of organic foods throughout the market as well a small area with plant baseed items which are becomming more and more popular. They also have a nice Heath and Beauty section.. and if you buy CBD items - they have those as well. Highly recommend this store for your shopping needs and a nice add to the Pleasant Hills area. read more

I was shopping for turmeric and a few other items that are not readily available in a supermarket. The turmeric is no longer sold in bulk. Instead it is packaged in bags. The impact is it is quite a bit more expensive. You can see through the bags well enough to check for mold, which is good. A very nice recent addition is self checkout. I very much prefer self check out. read more

Very expensive, and good luck finding a time when the deli is open. I've been there three times this week, at 9am, 5pm, then 4 pm. Closed every time. Theres not even a sign today stating what time they closed, or if they're even closed! Three people are standing there wondering if anyone is coming. Trying to find an employee to tell me what hours they might be open is a joke, every lane is self checkout and no one to be found. read more

Came by this morning right when they opened and the store was just so perfectly put together. The fruit and vegetables displayed look like cute pictures, not to mention fresh! They have a nice selection of different dietary needs: gluten, soy, dairy free options. They also have a nice fresh juice bar and you can actually see them juicing to put right on the shelves. How fresh and delicious! They offer vegan friendly beauty products that you would rather see sold out and picked over at Target. This week they had lemons and avocados 2 for $1. They had a nice large selection and usually avocados on sale mean all soft and mushy, ready to eat. But, these weren't at all! So many different avocados at different firmness stages. Yay! This review is probably going to mirror my other review of the supermarket since this is it's 2nd location. Marked as "healthy" store you will find tons of items marked "gluten free." As a matter of fact headboards all over tell you that you are in a gluten free section. Unfortunately the same cannot be true if you are looking for vegetarian or vegan. Those items are interspersed among the store aisles. Some of the vegan items are the same names as I've seen elsewhere but they are normally packaged box items and of course you are paying for the fact that it is vegan. Their showcase is the fresh fruits and vegetables. Check for sale items because you can get a few good deals here. The layout is the same as the Chartiers Valley location over in Bridgeville. They sell Boar's head cold cuts and pizza. I've eaten Boar's head before and can attest it is good. Expect to pay premium prices for those cold cuts. Many things here are labeled organic but you are not paying the price you would at Whole Foods. They don't have a "bakery" as you would normally recognize it. Instead in the bakery area there are tons of breads and pastries you can buy for yourself and cut loaves yourself using their machine. You cannot special order baked goods here as you would at other stores. They have an "app" you can use to track your rewards and Weds are what they call double coupon days since the old flyer and the new flyer merge that day. Therefore instead of double coupons you get more to choose from. There is a refrigerated prepared food section as well but prices are on par with grocery chains. They also have a juice bar. I was looking in bulk foods where a nice girl helped me get some prunes and raw almonds. She did show me around the boxed food area as well as the refrigerated section to help me find things I was looking for. I did want to note that if you are purchasing regular fruit many of them have the same names as my Giant Eagle where I live. Like the other store there is a wine department. Probably my best takeaway was bananas since every time I go grocery shopping they are overripe. Pricing can be hit or miss. This location is located on the far end of Southland strip mall where Office Max once stood. Place is normally packed and checkout lines are long. They seem to move quickly however. read more

Very upset with there lack of response. We had an awful experience with our Thanksgiving turkey dinner. The amount of food we received didn't feed four people let alone 6. The pies were smaller than advertised. I have called the store several times and received no response. I've emailed customer service four of five times and have received no response. I've filed with the BBB and they did not respond. Now I'm going to file with the Attorney General. All of this and all I wanted was an I'm sorry and maybe a gift card of the cost. We haven't been back and probably never will. 5 months later, and we haven't been back! None of my friends and family go here any more. Trader Joe's has much better service. It's like s Trader Joe's/Whole Foods meets Aldis. Sometimes they have great deals, sometimes they're more expensive. They have lots of offbrand things. What I like most about this store are the little shopping carts for kids. It makes taking my toddler a much easier time. Since she has something to do. My kids and I love the store. It is spacious, yet smaller than most multi-departmental stores. It sits at the end of the Southland Shopping complex, where Office Max used to be. It is, I believe, to be a much better addition to the shipping complex than what it replaced ever was. My favorite component is the produce. The store offers a huge variety of produce, and at exceptional quality. The price for said produce is decently below larger market competitors, and is never in short supply. Pros:Lots of produce and dry good offering, lower than typical prices, interesting decor. Cons:Meats offerings are not nearly as diverse, so try another store if that is what you're after. A vegetarian's dream, however, this place definitely is. read more

While waiting in line at the deli a man named David who works in the deli proceeded to only cut me a half pound of what I order from the whole pound. Then he move on to help out a whole different customer from a different department that wasn't even the deli. I told him I had more to order and for some reason he didn't help me out with my whole order instead he's bouncing around to other customers. My mother went in to on Thursday to check it out and bought some stuff that was on sale (one of which was a particular type of cantaloupe that she likes). Bought Mahi Mahi from the counter to make as a Christmas meal. Service was excellent, but unfortunately, when we opened the fish it is was very smelly. Tried cooking it, but it was not edible. We ordered chicken kabobs from the meat department for a family cookout this weekend. They were packaged up so nicely and each kabob had more than enough chicken and vegetables on the skewer. The products that fresh thyme market carries such as produce is hard to beat, is a bit expensive but great quality. The employees are really a hit or miss though, for example upon going to the deli I was told "we aren't open, we are way to busy" before I even asked for anything? It was 5pm on a Saturday and I felt that this was unusual. One another trip I had an employee aggressively bag my groceries, tossing bread and numerous soft vegetables/fruits. When paying a premium for this stores products I expect a great experience all around. I also on a separate occasion purchased two salt grinders (fresh thyme brand) and both completely broke open on two of my dinner dishes. After a third time of coming to the store and having a bad experience, I decided I won't return. For the money you pay to shop at a store such as fresh thyme you expect to be treated with respect and to be greeted by a friendly employee, also the quality of their house brand products such as both salt shakers breaking just doesn't live up to the price. For years I have had a routine when grocery shopping. I start at Aldi's, then go to Trader Joe's, and then fill in from Giant Eagle. I had read two reviews of this Market-one not so great and one that gave them a huge thumb's up. I thought it would be cool to some day do all of my grocery shopping in just one or two stores and not three, but I went in cautiously. I grabbed the sale ad and checked it out. I actually got some great deals on seedless watermelon, cantaloupe, fresh green beans, yogurt, and a cleaning product that I use. I ran into a friend of mine and we started talking about our families. We also talked about the market. It was her first time visiting it also. Every couple of aisles we would run into each other and talk about our "finds" or disappointments. The "finds" were definitely some great sale prices. However, the regularly priced items were 2 to 3 dollars higher than prices I typically paid. Items like ice cream, vitamins, and some of the meats for example. I basically felt like I was in a Trader Joe's but with Whole Food prices. I wasn't a big fan of the bulk section but I did see a few people shopping their. The juice bar seemed to be a hit but I didn't want to stand in line for it. What I decided is that this will be the store I go to for ready made meals to heat and eat or meat that has already been seasoned/marinated and was ready to grill. Other than that I don't see it fitting a need for our family. Plus when we went to check out the lines were very long. They kept calling up cashiers and baggers but it was going to take them awhile to get those lines through, While I waited in line my husband checked out the wine and beer selection. He said the wine selection was quite nice but the beer selection wasn't impressive. When we were being rung up the cashier told us that by downloading the app we could get extra discounts on certain items. On the app it shows you the item. If you don't want it then you swipe it away. Then only the discounts you want stay on. It's a neat store but I think would have been nicer if the bulk area was re-located and an few tables and chairs were put their for people who wanted to sit and drink their juices, eat salads, or other prepared foods. I personally was expecting something different. Since moving back home to Pittsburgh from South Carolina, we have been struggling to find a good real organic farmers market and organic store that doesn't gouge you. The bulk section was not as large as I wanted. They have several things in different places so it looks like there's more than there is. They offer nuts, flour, dried fruits, beans, oats, and candy. They had bins of the same product here, there, and over there. Same with the candy and oats. Not sure when Rainbow Nerds became a healthy food but they have three bins of them. The meat and fish departments don't offer much choice. There were maybe 6- 7 verities of fish and they were already in cut no whole fish. The meat section had more varieties of grilling sausages than anything else. I was surprised to see no breakfast or bulk sausage. The deli is ALL Boar's Head. My husband did order a Cuban Sandwich (they gave it to him half off because he waited so long for it which they did not have to do at all) which was on toasted bread but the meat and cheese was cold and it was not pressed as a Cuban should be, but that is a training error easily fixed. The cheese section was less than impressive, on the website they say 75+ varieties of cheese. The small cooler case did not have 75+ verities of cheese. The salad bar was very nice, had a great selection of choices.The produce was beautiful! Each piece of produce was blemish free and looked as if it was polished! Still no cactus leaves though. The center of the store is prepackaged goods, I didn't see any of the brands I was looking for that we used to buy in the organic stores down south, but they offered a lot of common brands found in most stores that have organic sections. If your looking to compare cost to shop n Save then yes, they are expensive. But your not shopping for what they sell at Shop n Save, this is supposed to be organic and natural. There's a reason you pay more for that, if you don't understand that statement this is not the store for you. If your looking to compare cost to Whole Foods, yes it is a great deal less expensive. The best part of the store we saw last night were the employees. They were everywhere. They wanted to help. If they didn't know the answer you needed they went and found someone who did. They had the vendors themselves there demonstrating their products and a lot of great freebies, like a gallon of Reverse Osmosis water (refill is only 39¢). I won't be rushing back down to do my weekly shopping as I still do better getting things I want in the Strip District but might go back for some things here and there in a pinch. But it's new and they products might change as they learn their clients. Possibly in a month or so we may venture back down and check it out again when its not a mad house and we can more closely look at things. read more

Fresh Thyme Market is a grocery store that specializes in organic and healthy products. I was so impressed with the selections in this store and found their prices to be comparable to other local stores. They have tons of gluten free items that are clearly marked. My favorite thing is the pick your own frozen mochi dessert cart. The people that work here are super friendly and helpful. I will definitely shop there again soon! I have been shopping at Fresh Thymes since it has opened. I find the quality and freshness superb. I think some of the negatives in some of the other comments are from people who were having a bad day or just like to complain no matter where they go. I like to do a special shout out to an employee there at the meat counter, his name is Brennan, very polite and very mannerly young man. He was patient, considerate, and took his time wrapping my purchases so they would not leak. Kudos to him and Fresh Thyme, he is an asset to your company. read more
