My family was staying at the Resident Covent Garden (the #1 rated hotel on Tripadvisor) and this business was literally a minute walk from the hotel. Since this was one of three places situated next to the hotel that served coffee we conveniently used this as a breakfast stop one of the days.
The original location is in Athens near the Acropolis. I haven't been to Greece yet but one thing I noticed about London is that quite a few eateries I encountered over the course of my travels have outposts in London. In this case here although the owner is Greek she decided to raise her family in the UK... hence the outpost of Fresko in Covent Garden.
Love the fact that the owner believes in sampling as much as you want, although do this with the intention of buying something! A bit disrespectful if you don't do this.
There are four yogurt bases - traditional, extra creamy, sheep's milk and light. You can have it as a yogurt or as a smoothie. Toppings include the spooned sweets (think preserved fruits), fresh fruits, honey and nuts. You can either DIY your order or get one of the set favorites. I got the "Love from Athens" (yogurt with thyme honey and walnuts) and my sister got the "Greek Escape" (strawberries, pine honey and hazelnuts), each costing £4.50 We also each got Greek coffee (£2), which is very similar to Turkish coffee. Loved each of our bowls - even with the traditional flavor it's half creamy yet half tart. Honey and walnuts is very high protein, naturally sweet and more healthy than a full on English breakfast or even a pastry. Coffee was strong but didn't need cream/sugar due to my yogurt.
The person running the shop in the morning was so sweet - since it wasn't so busy she even had time to chat. It was her first time running the place solo but she did a great job. read more
