When I called to inquire they said its listed on their website and I should have known about the substitutions, but it is only in one spot on their website, it is not blatant, and it is cut off at the bottom of the screen so you have to scroll down to see it. When I said the bouquet looks much cheaper than the one I ordered and asked for a discount or something they refused and said the bouquet sent was much more expensive than the one I ordered. The lady on the phone was obviously annoyed with me and told me it was my responsibility to check on the delivery, but I called that morning to check on the delivery and they never mentioned the substitutions. I will not be using this business again.

And it's worth the drive…read more There are several smaller nurseries in the area, and the big-box home improvement stores carry plants, and Al Cook beats them all. It has a large layout with a large selection. I noted several prospective shrubberies and researched them, and all of them will do well in the Piney Woods area with its frequent rain and hot weather. Which tells me that Al Cook would not sell a plant if it wouldn't do well here, whether it's flowers, bushes, or trees. Prices are in line with other nurseries and a little higher than the big boxes, but Al Cook doesn't benefit from bulk wholesale like the big boxes do. The man who helped me out was indeed helpful, including helping put the many shrubberies I bought into my SUV, and quite chatty. He even gave me a tip about a new barbecue joint near Bevil Oaks, and mentioned Beaumont's most loved BBQ place (as a newer resident who loves his meat, this information comes in handy). She was extremely rude and unapologetic even though I had been standing there since before 6. I feel that if you are open, you should be open and provide all services. I used to go to Farmers Mercantile with my Grandpa when I was just a little kid. There were always men sitting outside visiting. I side, there were old farm implements hanging up high, bulk grains in bins with scoops so you could scoop just what you needed, an "old timey" scale to weigh them. It had rustic wood floors, old wood shelves displaying cookware, hardware, and stuff you needed when you needed it. I remember the smell, one I've never forgotten even decades later, it reminded me of fresh hay. I seem to remember chasing a chicken, or maybe it was a cat....i was pretty little. That was then, so very long ago! And now, even with the newer modern(ish) touches (metal shelves, newer cookware, etc) it's still that Farmers Mercantile I remember so well. It still sells "the stuff you need when you need it" but the memories are free. I hope it never changes. Priceless!

I normally don't support big box stores, but after shopping at Parker's, I understand why people…read moredon't go there. Their customer service is nonexistent and the management is the worst of the worst. This store sold me lumber with mold on it on more than one occasion. I have spent months trying to contact them to get help. The manager will absolutely not answer the phone and return phone calls. The general manager at the store is the most unhelpful, unpleasant, and unprofessional person I've ever dealt with. I found out directly from a Parker's employee that this Parker's location has been selling old lumber for a long time now, and the employees are aware of it. He stated that the lumber is not kept dry out back. Be very careful shopping at this location and make sure to inspect every board that you get. It's unfortunate that Ken Parker is not running this company anymore because it was not run like this when he was in charge.
